22nd Anniversery Adventure
Lisa's LL studio apt. is clean, cozy + adorable w/an enormous yard + enchanting porch ! Stayed here so we could explore the waterfalls @ Mattheison State Park w/our dog. She gives you a property tour upon arrival + is friendly + helpful. She also has an aquarium we enjoyed watching + feeding the fish 😃 wish we could have stayed longer + hope to return in the future to view the various seasons
Lisa was a great host. I believe she went above and beyond to try and make us comfortable. It was an awesome place for my two dogs with plenty of room to run and play outside. Lisa even provided extra dog beds, towels, linens, and treats for the dogs. Location is close to Ottawa. Unfortunately, the listing of this property is not accurate. This is not a lower level apartment, this is the basement. It did not have its own separate entrance. You had to enter the owners house and then go down the basement stairs to enter the property. The door heading to the apartment (basement), had no lock on it. Although we felt completely safe, and our privacy was respected, it did not leave us with the separation we desired. The property was occupied by other people, albeit in a different section of the house. It felt more like renting a room in someone’s house than a true Vrbo rental. Also, the basement have a high moisture problem. That, combined with the carpet contributed to a musty odor. On a positive note, the dehumidifier that was provided help to dry the air decreased the odor considerably. We believe with fixing the humidity issue (or perhaps a larger dehumidifier) and removing the carpet, that may well help with the odor. To be a true apartment, there should a true separate entrance unrelated to the main house. This would make this listing go from good to great!
Yep, as in the property’s description “...it’s what I call home.” The inside rentable area is 800 of the 4500 sq ft home and the outside entrances are always locked with cameras for security so I feel it is very safe here. Each level of the house is different. There is heat, air conditioning and a dehumidifier so you can adjust the air for your personal comfort, which can be much different from the person before you, I’m available 24/7 to assist, usually in-house. I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay here, maybe that’s why your dog chewed the tv remote.
1 week stay
We stayed for a week with out 2 dogs. It is quite and lots of room for the dogs to run. The owner is knowledgeable about the area and takes care of any questions with the property very quickly. It is a short drive to multiple state parks with hiking. Will stay here again the next time we are in the area.
A very comfortable place to stay
Very friendly and accommodating owner. Unfortunately rained most of the time we were there, otherwise would have really enjoyed the patio area and the dog run. Pet friendly was also very appreciated. Great place to stay, hope we get to come back someday.
Great accommodations for a quick getaway from the Western Chicago suburbs
This bright happy studio has everything you need. Lovely backyard view, very clean and well appointed space. Comfy couch to watch TV, and luxurious bed! My two dogs were "nosing" around that backyard as often as they could. Within 25 min you can be at the I&M canal or Starved Rock for hiking or wallowing in the incredible history of the area. I recommend this place for a all four seasons.
Thank you! I’m glad we got a chance to sit on the deck and visit... and that you enjoyed the space.
Just north of I80 about 5 miles, you have quick access to Skydive Chicago, downtown Ottawa merchants, restaurants and the river walk, Starved Rock State Park and Starved Rock Lock and Dam. It is also close to Marseilles activities such as The Cliffs of Insane Terrain/Zip Line. There are multiple golf courses in the area with 2 being within a couple of miles.Route 66 raceway is 44 miles, Starved Rock State Park is 23 miles, Downtown Ottawa or Marseilles are both about 9 miles, Skydive Chicago is 6 miles. There is a pizza place not too far that will deliver!
