About Brenda Sansom

Owners Tom and Brenda Sansom have lived in Lake Quinault since 1975, graduated from Lake Quinault High School and raised a family of three daughters who also all graduated from Lake Quinault High School. Our love for this wonderful place generated from generations of both sides of the family who also lived, schooled and raised families here. With our love for nature, the great outdoors and wildlife, Lake Quinault fulfills all our activity needs. Our greatest joy is to be fortunate enough to share this spectacular vacation area with people from all over the world by providing accommodations for our location visitors. Our four year old grandson says that this is the best place in the whole world!

Brenda Sansom purchased this house in 1998

Why Brenda Sansom chose Lake Quinault

Cottage Peaks is located in the Olympic National Park and a beautiful temperate rainforest with recorded world largest trees, fern beds and dripping moss. For such a beautiful place there are a minimum of accomodations for the amount of visitor in this area. I wanted to be able to offer a comfortable place for people to stay and have a chance to really enjoy our area.

What makes this house unique

You will benefit from a central location on the water and just be 10 minutes from wildlife, hiking trails and 30 minutes from ocean beaches. Also, 1hr and 15 minutes from Forks, WA (twilight location).

Amazing view, great place to stay on Lake Qunault

  • 4 of 5

This is an excellent house on Lake Quinault. The location is perfect, the view from the house, yard, and dock is incredible. You cannot beat the view and the peace of this location - we hiked in the rainforest, went to the beaches, my brother brought his kayak and explored the lake and Quinault river - he said that from what he saw, this house by far had the nicest yard and dock area. We also spent time just playing in the water, floating, jumping off the dock (it was cold, but not too cold to jump in), and playing in the yard - they had ladder ball, which entertained my son for hours. We saw otters swimming by in the lake. The bedrooms are nice and beds are comfortable, all but one bedroom has a porch/balcony. There are two bedrooms upstairs that have a shared bathroom in between and the 2 bedrooms downstairs have a full bathroom in the hallway. The living room is very nice with very comfortable furniture. The TV had direct TV with a DVR. There is wifi, but it is too slow to stream. There is decent cell phone service (verizon and at&t) at the house, even though it is spotty once you leave the house to explore the park. There is a sun room with a table (and beautiful stained glass sky lights) and a dining room with table, and a table on the deck, so plenty of eating space. The kitchen is tiny but it is all in working order and has a nice charm to it. The cabinets, dishes, and pots and pans could use some updating, but they served their purpose. There is a nice grill on the deck that we used for the majority of our main cooking which also solves having too many people in a small kitchen. There is a fire pit that we used for campfires and smores. Brenda is a great hostess, she is right there if you need anything. I do recommend reserving the kayaks if you want them though, because we had hoped to use them and they were rented by someone else. Overall, this was an awesome experience and I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a peaceful place to stay in Olympic National Park, I am not sure you could beat it.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a very detailed review. We plan on remodeling the kitchen area opening up some walls to make it more spacious as well as purchasing extra kayaks. Glad you had a wonderful stay!

Quaint house, beautiful location on the lake

  • 3 of 5

The owner went out of town with no reception for the duration of our visit and didn't let us know or leave an alternate contact person. We had trouble getting in- in the pouring rain with two little kids after a long car ride- and couldn't reach the owner at any of the numbers given and she never called us back during our 3 night stay to make sure we had gotten in. Ultimately we managed to get in, but it was unsettling to not be able to reach the owner when we had a serious issue.

Owner's Response: Again I'm sorry this is unfortunate. That's why I emailed you the codd to the door prior to your arrival. Also I didn't know I was not going to have cell service or I would have left an alternate person to contact. I hope you enjoyed your stay despite the trouble entering

Secluded location on Lake Quinault

  • 4 of 5

Excellent views of the lake. Wonderful location. A little difficult to find the first time, but worth the effort. Not real close to services, restaurants or retail, but isn't that the point? Great fire pit. Well stocked with the needed pots, pans, utensils, etc. Nice gas-fired fireplace in the living room.

Couldn't be more perfect

  • 5 of 5

Great location, great home, and the peace and quiet we needed. The house is spacious, enough room for everybody. The kitchen is well stocked, and has some extra spices which is always nice since we inevitably forget something. The weather was perfect, we were able to eat outside for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, on a deck overlooking Lake Quinault. Breathtaking. It was a short drive to some great hikes and when we got back my husband loved jumping in the lake for an invigorating swim. We will be staying here in the future. There were really no down points to this stay.
