Mount Angeles House
About Mount Angeles House
We are the second generation of our family to own this house. In 1938, our patriarch became the second ranger ever in Olympic National Park, so our love of the Park and the Olympic Peninsula runs deep.
Mount Angeles House purchased this House in 1976
Why Mount Angeles House chose Port Angeles
Mount Angeles House was built in 1976 on historic homesteaded land and has recently been completely updated. The land was purchased directly from the original homesteading family. Their descendants are still our neighbors. Mount Angeles House has always been very special to us. Many years ago we were married in front of the fireplace in the Living Room. We live in Port Angeles and still hold family gatherings at the house. It remains an important place for our family to this day.
What makes this House unique
The first generation of our family always loved inviting guests to this very special home and sharing the beauty of the area with them. We would like to continue the tradition of sharing this wonderful house which is so meaningful to our family. We would be honored to share it with you. We look forward to welcoming you to Mount Angeles House! We donate 5% of all profits to Olympic National Park. We feel fortunate to be able to give back to a place which has given so much to our family.

Amazing place and wonderful hosts
If anything could compete with a 5 star luxury hotel this would be it. The hosts have thought of every detail to make sure you are comfortable and happy. They start with a great tour to give you all of the information then there are a ton of resources for everything.
Need something to cook with? Well they have 3 of everything in various sizes. Everything is brand new from utensils to games and everything in between. The towels are luxurious, heated floors, amazing showers, etc.
The location is right by the entrance to the Olympic National Park. Like in the description, there is a great Mountain View on one side and a water view of the spit all the way to Victoria (on a clear day) on the other side.
We highly recommend.
This home will exceed your expectations
I cannot say enough good things about the property or the owners. The property is exceptionally well maintained and equipped. We enjoyed meeting the owners who will give you a short tour of the property before leaving you to enjoy your stay.
We had a great time
The hosts are warm and welcoming - the property is exactly (and beyond) as listed ... great attention was given to details all around, there was nothing missing! At the end of every day touring the park we couldn’t wait to get back “home”, there was so much to do and nothing missing
The views are breathtaking and we’d like to come back as soon as we can for more! I’d wholeheartedly recommend this property and owners without a doubt! Go for it don’t think twice
Fantastic home away from home
Beautiful home, better than the pictures, truly welcoming owners, great location, beautiful views, very comfortable, super clean, all amenities updated, there couldn’t be a better place to stay away from home.
Upon arrival, we were blown away by the water views at the from of the house and Mount Angeles in the back. The house was immaculately clean, I could not find a bit of dust or dirt.
The Russells gave us a tour of the house, which gave some backstory to the previous inhabitants and the property itself.
The back patio + sun room are so ideal for hanging out with friends we were tempted to stay and not visit as much of the park! They have a large piece of land behind the house we ran around and played soccer in. We enjoyed the level of detail put into this rental, from the book in the kitchen mapping out where every item can be found, the personalized recommendations for restaurants around Port Angeles, the welcome package and the heated floors in the bathrooms. The robes and slippers were a very nice touch that made the experience feel luxurious. We would love to come back some day!
Amazing Experience - Fantastic Hosts
One of the best vacation homes we have stayed in. The property itself is very conveniently located adjacent to the Mt Olympic National Park with great views to the ocean and the mountains. This heritage property has all luxury amenities and is furnished very tastefully. The Russells are highly organized, friendly and very caring couple. They came over within 30 minutes of our arrival and welcomed our family with a freshly baked tasty Norwegian bread and explained the history of the house and have us a detailed tour explaining all the features of the house which made our stay very comfortable. The house is a sheet delight to be in. All in all it was a 7 star experience for us. We had a memorable vacation and hope to come back again. Hats off and heartfelt thanks to the Russells for creating a superb experience with their emphasis on superior quality, attention to detail and focus on convenience and comfort.
Our location is an ideal base for exploring the Olympic Peninsula.
The Olympic National Park Visitor Center and the road to Hurricane Ridge are only a half-mile away. Hiking opportunities here are superb.
We’re less than half a mile from the Port Angeles city limits, so there’s easy access to restaurants and shops. For more options, the town of Sequim is just 15 miles to the east.
Lake Crescent with its historic lodge is a half-hour away, as are Sequim’s lavender farms. The Hoh Rain Forest (a World Heritage Site), Sol Duc Hot Springs, the picturesque Pacific Coast beaches, the town of Forks (made famous in Twilight), and the eclectic Victorian seaport of Port Townsend all make easy day-trips. There’s even a local company that offers guaranteed whale-watching tours.
There are interesting museums and cultural centers. There are also casinos within easy driving distance.
If you’d like to visit Victoria, British Columbia for the day and have tea at the historic Empress Hotel or see the impressive Butchart Gardens, we’re only 2.5 mi from the Ferry Terminal (passport or WA Enhanced Drivers License required). Victoria is just a 90-minute ride away on the ferry, and the ferry normally makes several round trips daily.
Our area has lots of festivals and special events, so you can often enjoy those too. Just a few examples are Jazz in the Olympics in April, Juan de Fuca Festival of the Arts in May, Maritime/Tall Ships Festival in June, Sequim Lavender Festival in July, Clallam County Fair in August, Arts & Draughts Beer & Wine Festival in September, and Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival in October. Plus, we have marathon and bike events multiple times a year. (See visitportangeles.com for a full listing.)
There are so many choices of things to do here and they're in such a beautiful setting that no matter what you choose to do, you can't go wrong!
