Located in Pine Mountain Club CA, this newly refurbished three bedroom, one and a half bath home provides an ideal retreat from the relentless pace of the big city.
Only an hour and a half north of LA, people find it hard to believe that they're even in Southern California. We're located at 5,600 feet, on the forested slopes of 8,831 foot tall Mt. Pinos, where all four seasons make themselves known, one after the other.
We're located walking close, down a charming path, to the quaint PMC Village Center, which offers many conveniences, from restaurants and shops, to a grocery store and video rentals, to name a few. At the same time, our home has a secluded feel, being at the end of a 150' gravel driveway, with a 'green belt' on three sides.
Nestled in a grove of amazing 60' tall oak trees, it's easy to lose track of time gazing out the huge sliding glass door at 7,492 foot San Emigdio Mountain., or sitting on the spacious deck, listening to the streams that flow into the meadow below us. It's common to see deer grazing just below the deck.
Built in 1974, our cabin is kind of a time capsule of that era, with its shag carpets, beautiful pine paneling and very 70's color scheme. Don't let that fool you though; with broadband wireless internet, 42' plasma high-definition cable TV and free local and (domestic) long distance phone calls, we are fully up to date with 21st Century technology.
This area is most popular for its proximity to Mt. Pinos (you can drive almost to the top) and the Winter sports (cross-country skiing, sledding and inner-tubing) associated with it, but many love it up here in the warm months as well, when it's 20 degrees cooler than sweltering LA, and there's always a breeze. There's great hiking up here, and bicycling too, both on and off-road. There's also a 9-hole golf course at the PMC clubhouse, and a swimming pool, so in Summer, bring your bathing suit! We have guest passes that entitle our guests to use all facilities at the clubhouse.
A lot of folks simply come up here, whatever the season, to chill out and enjoy each others' company. Next time you've got a week-end or more where you'd like to get away to a very comfortable home away from home in the beautiful, peaceful mountains, we'd love to hear from you!

I am a full-time musician in LA. I have always loved coming up to PMC since I was a kid. I still come up here whenever I can, to decompress and recharge. In the last couple of years I've been renting our cabin, 'Chris' Cabin' to a lot of very nice folks. I never knew I would enjoy this so much! Everyone seems to love it. I try to be very attentive, to make sure everyone has a wonderful time.
Chris purchased this House in 1974
Why Chris chose Pine Mountain Club
My Dad and I used to camp out up here in the 60s, when I was a kid. Dad and family friend Shirley bought a choice lot in brand new Pine Mt. Club. That was 1971. In 1974 they had this great cabin built, and it was our personal retreat. We always had a wonderful time whenever we'd come up. Dad and Shirley left me the cabin when they passed on. I totally revamped the cabin over a 6 month period in 2007, because I wanted to make it as comfortable and cozy as possible. I wanted to share the special experience of coming up to this beautiful place by making it a vacation rental.
What makes this House unique
It came out great! Chris' Cabin is a perfect combination of a cabiny feel (pine paneling, shag carpet, brick fireplace.), and all the hi-tech comforts (42' Plasma TV w/ 5.1 surround sound, Satellite TV, Satellite broadband internet.), as well as creature comforts (Very comfortable beds!, Brand new top-line appliances, fully equipped kitchen). It's down a long driveway off a cul de sac. Situated right on the 'greenbelt', where no structures will ever be built, with a breathtaking view of Mt. San Emigdio on the opposing side of the Canyon. There is great hiking right out the front door, as well as nearby. We have descriptions of these and many other local activities in our 'Welcome Book'. You can walk to the nearby Village Center via the charming 'Snowflake Trail', a 10-15 minute walk. We have Guest Passes to use the facilities at the PMC clubhouse. Chris' Cabin is also a perfect combination of a secluded feel and lovely view, while being conveniently close to the Village Center.

Amazing cabin for the weekend!
Chris' cabin was such an amazing place to spend a weekend away from Los Angeles. My husband and I came up with our dog, Hunter and enjoyed every minute of being here. Everything you could possibly need - Chris has. We spent our time making home cooked meals, sitting on the deck bird watching, sitting in front of the fire at night and exploring by foot during the day. Couldn’t ask for a better retreat and Chris was beyond accommodating. Can't wait to visit again.
Quiet and peaceful corner!
We were in the cabin with our children and friends during weekends. The Owner - Chris was very hospitable and attentive. Most of all I was pleased with the location of the house, it was a quiet place with the opportunity to take a walk in the forest not far from home. I like it! The house has everything you need for your stay. Thank you very much;)
Chris the owner of this place is amazing, he contacted me right away and explained everything thoroughly. even though he has guideline and procedure writing down for everything he still answered my calls and walked me through it.
we were two couples and when we arrived there was a storm and it was snowing. absolutely amazing. we BBQ on the balcony while listening to some music and relaxing in the snow. I absolutely love the location of the house it sits at the end of a culdesac and you have no neighbors beyond you. privacy is great. make sure to leave the cabin and walk around there is a lot to see, and nice spots around the property (hidden) you can chill at, enjoy a cup of coffee and read. make sure to visit mount PINO for some snow play.
BIG selection of DVD movies to choose from. awesome fireplace to relax by. and satellite tv so you can watch anything you want or listen to. will defiantly return to this cabin again for a weekend getaway.
Peaceful , Cozy - Pet and Family Friendly
we love this cabin, located at the end of a quite street..making it perfect for kids and our dog to go out exploring together. the views from every room are wonderful - we enjoyed coffee in the deck in the morning and wind in the evenings. This is our second year visiting this cabin for winter break (we love the visit after Christmas).
Chris is really easy to deal with, he responded to all our questions right away---very useful when packing with a 7 month old!!
Three generations of us enjoyed our stay at Chris's cabin which is located in a beautiful grove of live oak trees and surrounded by evergreen trees. Chris was extremely helpful and clear about instructions for arrival and departure routines for using his cabin. We brought all of our own supplies but Chris kept a few essentials someone might need in his refrigerator. One thing which would have made our stay even better would have been a more comfortable sofa to sit on. This may be an issue only for us older adults (in our 70's) who need a bit more support for our bodies. The terrain immediately surrounding the cabin is very steep so our young grandchildren and we, the grandparents, could not really hike near the cabin but one can walk a bit away from the cabin and find an easier area in which to walk. Overall we had a wonderful time.
Wonderful getaway to enjoy nature
We had such a wonderful visit to Pine Mountain. Chris' cabin was perfect - it was well-stocked and well-suited for our small family. Chris was very attentive to our needs and provided thorough instructions ahead of time. The cabin is in a great location and we enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and also on the trail to the mountain town less than a mile away. Hiking abounds nearby and our favorite trail was on the summit of Mt Pinos. Chris' DVD library kept us well entertained and we enjoyed sitting out on the deck that overlooks the mountains. We will definitely be back!
