This area of France is little-known by UK visitors. The majority of tourists here are French, Belgian and Dutch.
The climate consists of hot summers and cool winters - and we are fortunate to have a number of ski resorts (with both downhill and cross country pistes) within an hour's drive.
In the hot summer months the lake is a hive of activity with all water sports (paddle boarding, windsurfing, sailing, kite surfing, pedalos, motor boats, etc.) on offer - or pleasure boat excursions for those who don't want to get wet! Swimming in the fresh water of the lake is always a pleasure.
For the more adventurous there are plenty of activities on offer; walking, mountain biking and cycling trails lead straight from the front door! There is white water rafting and kayaking on offer on the Durance and Ubaye rivers, both of which feed into the Lac Serre Poncon.
There are nearby towns and villages to explore - many with their local 'fête' in the summer months - as well as flea markets, 'braderie' and car boot ('vide grenier') sales where one can pick up items at good prices.
Hiking is a year-round activity and we have plenty of guide books, itineraries and maps at your disposal.
