Why Jan and Mike Jacobson chose Downtown Charleston
We would like to tell you more about what makes this property so special and attractive to all who visit Charleston. Jacobson Building at 19 Broad's location is second to none: 1 block south of the Historic Charleston City Market, 1 block north of the iconic Battery on Charleston Harbor, 1 block west of Waterfront Park on the Cooper River, and 1 block east of Washington Park, the Four Corners of Law, and Museum Mile. Rainbow Row is less than 1/2 block around the corner on East Bay St. Jacobson Building at 19 Broad is also located on one of the most famous, successful, and eclectic streets in the United States. Broad Street was listed among America's Top 10 Greatest Streets by the American Planning Association. Dubbed "Gallery Row," Broad Street is also Charleston's fine art destination. Broad Street boasts impressive dining options, ranging from wine and cheese shops to historic pubs to a top-notch steakhouse and the romantic Establishment restaurant across the street. Grand Architecture and room size are unique benefits of 19 Broad. Other 2 bedroom apartments on Meeting St. and near the Market are 1/3 the size of Jacobson Building, circa 1794. Our apartments offer you the colonial architecture and historical intimacy of centuries old Charleston homes, while affording you the modern functionality and spacious comfort of a commercial building. And last, but not least, is the value you receive by staying at Jacobson Building at 19 Broad. We quote competitive prices for our virtually unmatched locale. In essence our apartments offer the best home away from home for easy access to the history, architecture, coastal scenery, boutique shopping, art galleries, cuisine, and local culture that have won Charleston the World's Top Destination twice and the Nation's Top Destination seven times, by Conde Nast. Jacobson Building is a fraction of the cost of Inns in our area. Allow Jacobson Building at 19 Broad to be your bridge to the authentic and sublime.

This place has a ton of character. Very clean. Not in the area I specifically wanted but that was my fault! Area was still a nice area.
Fabulous location for exploring historic Charleston.
This is a perfect location to walk and explore Charleston. So close to great restaurants and historic sights. Description and photos of the apartment are exactly how we found it. Two large comfortable king bedrooms, one has en-suite bathroom and second bathroom is off living area. Owner was very responsive and helpful.
What a lovely set up in the historic end of Charleston. We enjoyed the property for several cold days in February, but that didn't seem to dampen our time, as we ate our way through the city! Everything you need is close at hand in this property. We had even brought coffee and the kitchen had a full set-up.
The19 steps to the housing was the only thing that we would have changed and that has just become a reality in our advanced age!! The City Market was very close, the downstairs restaurant, 'Oak Steakhouse' was wonderful for filet, but our favorite morning spot would definitely be on the corner at ONE BROAD. We started out our day with a good, tasty breakfast there. We would recommend to family and friends.
Our trip was a good one with another couple but, was temperamental while we were there; mid- March, would probably be a great time rather than in February due to the winds/rain/cold. Mother's Nature is in charge of that part! One thing we were not aware of as had been advertised was the BA was not attached to the second bedroom, but at least we had two but, it was a tad misleading. Thank you for your generosity of renting this home, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Thank you for your Review. We are happy you enjoyed yourselves! I would like to point out the difference between 19 Broad Street and other 2 bedroom/2 bath apartments in our area.
Two Kings is a 2000 square foot apartment. Other apartments for a party of 4 are 1/4 of the square footage.
Regarding the 2nd bath, we point out that it is off the Family Room (Main) in our description of bedrooms and very clearly in our Virtual Tour. We have accommodated 2 couples for 18 years and never mislead, not even a tad. Fact is the 2 King Bedrooms are separated by the large kitchen & family room. Privacy is NOT a problem due to the layout and spaciousness of our apartment. We also understand that when one couple rents a space and includes another couple, there can be confusion, e.g. the 2nd couple arrived 2 hours early with no communication. I actually helped them unload and allowed them to check in. It was immediately obvious that this lady never read the copy nor check-in instructions. The wrought iron staircase comes with our 225 year old building. After ascending, the apartment is all on one floor.
We do offer a cozy Studio for 2 with no stairs:) Jacobson Building's location is unparalleled and we are happy you found that enjoyable even during inclement weather. We truly hope you will come back to visit.
Weekend in Charleston
Really enjoyed our weekend getaway.
conveniiently located, very historic.
Historic property within walking distance of great shopping, restaurants and historic sites.
Yes indeed, we are quite historic! A stay at Jacobson Building will take you back to original dental molding and a 16 foot ceiling. Original fireplaces will remind you of brick laying in 1794 when our historic building was miraculously constructed! While we have updated with tile baths, large showers and central heating and air conditioning, we have meticulously saved every old relic. After all, we believe a true depiction of our 225+ year old architecture is what Jacobson Building at 19 Broad is best known for and we are located in the Original Walled City, the true Old & Historic District.
Jacobson Building at 19 Broad is a City of Charleston Licensed Rental and is truly in the heart of the Old and Historic District. Circa 1794, our property is the only rental in our block featuring original architecture, housed in a Grand Building boasting original 16 foot ceilings and 14 foot windows overlooking Historic Broad Street. While other locations on Meeting Street and near Market Street offer accommodations for 4 people, there is nothing that compares in size to 19 Broad. Our apartment is 2000 square feet; others range from 400-700 sq. ft. Our unique location is within the Original Walled City. From our doorstep, you can walk in all directions and remain in the Historic District. You can easily take in all the sites and beauty Historic Charleston is all about.
If you are driving to Charleston, we recommend parking in the City Garage within 1/2 block of Jacobson Building at 19 Broad. Our guests put their car safely away and retrieve it upon check-out. All venues and restaurants are very close by and City Garage is plentiful and reasonable at $18 for a 24 hour period. Please be aware when selecting your vacation rental. Rainbow Row, Dock Street Theatre, City Hall, Four Corners of Law, St. Michael's Church, St. Philips Church, King Street Shopping, Market Street, the Battery, Whitepoint Gardens, Waterfront Park, Exchange Building and so much are all very close to Jacobson Building at 19 Broad! Guests should realize that many vacation rentals in Charleston will require a drive to the sites within walking distance of Jacobson Building at 19 Broad Street, even though the locations on the VRBO map seem very close. Charleston is a peninsula that is 2 miles wide. Our customers who must drive to Charleston pull up and unload the car and then tuck it away safely in one of the many City Garages, reasonably priced at $18 for a 24 hour period. Trips in and out of the garage will result in the hourly rate.
