About the host
Hosted by Mary Haviland

Originally from New Jersey, I arrived in Eastern North Carolina in 1997 and have called it home ever since. I raised my 3 children in nearby Tarboro, NC. A friend introduced us to River Life and as soon as we saw Pamlico Cottage we knew this was our little piece of heaven. The kids are grown now, enjoying their own lives in various parts of the country. My new nickname is Go-Go and I enjoy visiting my grandchildren!
I've also moved to a new house in the country and have created a large garden. These recent life changes mean less time for me at Pamlico Cottage, so I decided to share it with others who love being near the water, relaxing, and enjoying the local wildlife. As a former Bed and Breakfast owner, I know how rejuvenating a get-away can be and I'm happy to invite you to spend some time at Pamlico Cottage!

Why they chose this property
The Cottage is on a quiet gravel drive with friendly neighbors who might invite you for coffee or cocktails, but will also give you as much privacy as you desire. Built in 1956, the Cottage has just enough vintage charm to satisfy my love of all things with a history, but is easily maintained and updated as needed. The views of the River from the screened-in porch, the living room, and all 3 bedrooms are spectacular!
What makes this property unique
All rooms are good-sized and decorated to enjoy a casual weekend lifestyle with painted floors, a screened-in porch, and vintage rattan furniture. The kitchen contains everything but the food and guests are invited to use whatever is there. All bed linens, bath towels, even beach towels, are provided for our guests. There is a washer & dryer in case a surprise storm catches you outside!
Guests enjoy watching the River change throughout the day at the end of the pier; dolphins regularly swim by.
