Stayed April 2026 while attending Northern College. So happy with my choice! From the moment I booked and walked through the door it was perfect. Comfortable, quiet and welcoming. Very relaxing between classes to be able to come back to my own private space with a back yard for fresh air as well. I loved the colourful vibe and wood flooring as an alternate to carpet that might be found in a motel/hotel. Very clean! Would definitely stay again if I was in the area, worth every penny for the upgrade from other options in the area.

Great place to stay, nice and clean, and the hosts were fantastic. Highly recommend this place to anyone
We were there for 3 days . The host thought of everything. A special attention to details. We travel a lot in Airbnb and this was the most best experience.
Clean, cute, well-furnished and well-located little house. We really loved to be so close to the Hailybury beach. Perfect for our family of four (2 adults and 2 children of 9 and 7.) The hosts were really nice, too! Un coup de coeur!
Luc and Louise were such wonderful, helpful hosts. The Crooked House had everything thoughtfully considered for the comfort of the guests - from the welcome package in the fridge to just how well equipped the property was. That it was so close to the beach and the water slide was such a plus for my kid. We really enjoyed our stay in this wonderful town, mostly because of our comfortable stay and hope to return!
My daughters stayed with their children and they were amazed not only for the cleanliness of the house but also the little attention that were prepared for them. Very fast communication with the owner as I was making reservation for them and quick follow-up as we were getting ready for the stay!
The Little Crooked House is charming, very clean, well equipped, centrally located in Temiskaming Shores, and well worth booking. We have already recommended it to friends who are considering a trip to the area. The owners, Luc and Louise Boucher, are very helpful and reply quickly to enquiries. We are a family of three (teenaged daughter), with a small dog, and it suited our needs perfectly. The house would also work well for a family with two small children who could share the Murphy bed in the second bedroom. With two older children, you may wish to consider bringing an air mattress (there is room in the second bedroom for one). The beds are comfortable and come with quality bed linens, and the kitchen has everything you'll need with an added (and unexpected) bonus of good tea and coffee, and we found some essentials waiting for us in the fridge!
The backyard deck is quiet, with a large garden and flower pots--we ate dinner there most nights. There is also a fire pit. The yard isn't fenced, but a long lead is provided for dogs that is suitable for small and large dogs.
The neighbourhood is quiet and the Haileybury beach is a short walk. There are a few restaurants, all within walking distance, and we enjoyed L'Autochtone. We would also recommend The Whiskey Jack if you enjoy craft beer. Of note, many of the town's restaurants are open only Wednesday to Saturday, so you may wish to confirm days/hours of operation.
There are lots of relatively easy day hikes nearby, and we did the Devil's Rock trail, and Pete's Dam trail, and also visited Kap-Kig-Iwan Provincial Park, which is about 40-45 minutes out of town. It's beautiful and well worth the drive to see the waterfall. It's one of the most scenic Ontario provincial parks we've visited, and we've been to quite a few! If you go, you may want to stop at the Thornloe cheese shop on the way back. The cheese lovers in our family really liked what they bought there.
We also enjoyed the beaches nearby. The Haileybury beach is completely sheltered and the water is treated by the town -- it's very popular and there are lifeguards until late August. We also enjoyed the New Liskeard beach, which is about 1.5 kilometres long. The lake bottom is sandy and weed-free. There are also marinas in both Haileybury and New Liskeard, although neither rent boats or kayaks, paddle boards, or canoes.
We had a lovely stay at the Little Crooked House and really enjoyed Temiskaming and all it had to offer!

Thank you very much for your review! Your description of the region and what it has to offer is excellent. We're glad you enjoyed your stay and took the time to share it with others.
I was in the area for business and wanted to be in a place that felt more like home. This is the place! It was perfect for me and allowed me some space rather than a cramped hotel room. Cooking my own meals versus eating out all the time. The hosts provided everything for breakfasts I just needed a few items for lunch and dinner. Great location and comfortable!
The Little Crooked House is the perfect place to spend time relaxing and enjoying life. The house had all the things we needed and more. Not only was the kitchen filled with all the equipment you need, we were treated with many extras. The surrounding area has many hiking trails and history that many of us should know. We will be returning in the near future.
