When we initially tried to reduce the length of stay by a day we were disappointed that it took months for this to be finalised and I understand the owner chased several times. A few minor maintenance issues that we have raised separately with the owner. Lovely house and pool in a good location.

Awesome!

Beautiful property in a beautiful safe location, only a few minutes walk to several lovely beaches and the cliff path into the town centre. The house was a pleasure to stay in, particularly the pool area and the large balcony to watch the sunset views across the sea and mountains. Communication with the owner was excellent and any small issue was quickly sorted. We loved our four weeks spent there!

Wonderful holiday in stunning house in beautiful Hermanus

House lives up to everything it was advertise to be. Lovely views, spacious rooms, living areas and bathrooms. Well equipped kitchen. Lovely upstairs braai area. Unfortunately the weather was not great, but we could use the fire place to keep the house warm on colder days. Only improvement would be a smart tv.

A wonderful position, lovely to be able to walk to the coastal path with ease.Would be very helpful to have an information sheet I.e details on how to use the cooker, where the local shops are [particularly as there’s no welcome pack] and the alarm password should you inadvertently set it off.Not able to use the garage but this wasn’t a problem but useful to know in advance.We loved our stay here and hope we’re able to return next year

Gorgeous comfortable home in a perfect neighborhood

We felt right at home as soon as we walked into Marie's home. In fact, more at home because the decor is just beautiful and tasteful. The king-sized bed was the most comfortable that we had experienced during our 6 weeks in South Africa. We managed to trip the alarm system a couple times, but our host was incredibly available in helping us out--especially with all of the electricity issues in the country during our time there. Highly recommend this home for families, couples, and girls trips!

Fab house and location

We've stayed in Hermanus before, so know we liked this side of town, so when we saw the house we knew it was a perfect quiet location! A few minutes walk to the lovely beach path, a few minutes drive to the nature reserve, golf club and amazing restaurants in town. House well equipped with everything you need. We hadn't realised just how bad the load shedding/power cuts are these days, but were thrilled to find a recently installed inverter which provided power at all times - a real bonus having chatted with other renters during our stay. Lovely outside space upstairs and downstairs, we had a great stay thank you.

Wonderful location near beach with ocean AND mountain views

We had an amazing time in South Africa and this beautiful 2 story home was a key part of that. Very comfortable for 5 to 6 adults. We loved sitting on 2nd floor veranda/terrace outside and enjoying the views of the ocean, the mountains and feeling the cool breezes during the day….by far the best room in the house! The kitchen was fun to gather and cook together around the middle stove/island. We did many walk outings along the beach area which is only 3 blocks away and has a paved path made for walking along the majestic coastline. Then we came back and jumped in the pool to cool off. We easily made trips to grocery stores and other local communities from this location.

Well-furnished, well-equipped, lovely home. Slow internet. Old TV.

Lovely area. 400m from beach. Spacious, well-furnished. Lots of crockery/glasses/cooking utensils. Comfy bed. Broadband capped at 3 mbps. Upgrade capped at 10 mbps. Recommend taking Apple TV box or Firestick. Poor burglar alarm instructions. We were asked to leave early for "regular" incoming guests.

We will not rent this property again

This house was a big disappointment for us.Almost all the furniture is stained. The carpets are dirty. Instead of cleaning or replacing them, they put another dirty carpet on top.The bathtub in the bedroom does not work properly, the same thing in another bedroom, (impossible to drain the water), the toilet in the bedroom is difficult to flush.The dishwasher needs an extra wheel to run smoothly, etc.This house is not taken care of.No information on how things work in the house.If you, like us, want a clean house, this is not the house for you.The location is good, but it does not compensate for all the bad things.The owner will never be a super host in our eyes.We were offered a refund and to move out, but how easy is it to find another house in February?

Very complicated unhappy people. Tried to explain to them how bath works and that toilet needs an extra flush but just very unhappy with life. Dishwasher fridge etc brand new. Outdoor furniture so close to sea do get stained. I have cleaning lady who cleans house weekly irrespective if people are there. They would definitely not find this ‘perfect’ house they are searching for in their price bracket.

Very good but not sensational

The house is in a good location for the beach. A big property which suited us but not suitable for physically impaired as the living area is upstairs. The upper deck gives the best views but is not totally private as there is a public road on both sides. Big kitchen area but some appliances: fridge and oven need replacing. A good supply of crockery, cutlery and glasses. Would suggest an information sheet about how things work and where to find things as the check in was very brief. Would have been more welcoming if the mattresses were on the sun loungers (like in the photo) and we never did find the pool towels. We were given 2 sets of house keys but only one set had an alarm button so we could not alarm the house if we went out separately. Only one car can go in the garage as the owner's car is there. We travel extensively and were surprised at the lack of essentials. No milk, tea, sugar or even toilet rolls. Overall we had a good stay and with a bit more thought and alittle tlc the house could indeed be sensational.

Dear Denise, I’m sorry you didn’t find my house to be up to your standards, but have indicated you would want to rent again. The house is situated in the loveliest part of Voelklip and I’ve never had any complaints about busy roads or privacy. 8th Street is in fact a street where our children play cricket and skateboard. Sun lounger cushions get brought indoors if not used as the sun is very strong and I don’t want them damaged. I did you a favour in renting on the same day previous tenants moved out as I usually don’t do this. I also did you a favour in loading off groceries in fridges before check in time. There is ample parking in driveway in front of house.

Das Haus ist geschmackvoll eingerichtet, in bester Lage von Hermanus! Die Vermieter unkompliziert, Einrichtung inkl. Pizzaofen perfekt für Partys! Everything we hoped it would be!

Beautiful pool, stunning house in lovely neighbourhood. Restaurants within walking distance. Hermanus is a gorgeous town with lots of facilities. Beach and great walks along coastal pathway just around the corner. Highly recommended and we will definitely visit again.

Heaven on Earth

A fabulous property in a magnificent area. Humanus is a beautiful village/town with fabulous restaurants. ,The coastal walk is spectacular . The beaches are marvellous although the sea can be challenging on times to bathe in. All round fantastic.

Home away indeed!

The place was lovely, felt like a home that has had a lot of thought put into it. Very well stocked. There were some issue with the kitchen plumbing and electricals, but communication with the owner and her friend proved to be easy. Very comfortable beds and having a beautiful proper wood braai place was fantastic. The kids enjoyed the pool area too and the toys and books. Thank you Marie and Sue!

My husband and I have an incredibly soft spot for Hermanus as we have been spending holidays in this gem of a village since toddlerhood. Our parents have homes there, we met there, got engaged, married there, boys had their christenings in beautiful stone church in village and now we continue the blessed tradition of Hermanus life with our boys. The house carries magic with it as one wakes up to ocean and mountain views and the beach & mountain paths are minutes by foot away. I love the lay-out of the house & easy entertaining, I love that it is gorgeous in summer but equally cosy in winter. And i love the lavender in the garden and the warm pool.
