This wonderful house is Vashon Island's ONLY VRBO PROPERTY offering a pristine sandy beach on the warm, sunny Puget Sound east side of the Island and within easy distance from the Seattle ferry. It's 180-degree view soars over an 11-mile expanse of water towards majestic snow-capped Mt. Rainier. While only 4 minutes by car from the Seattle Ferry dock, it enjoys perfect quiet due to the protection of Dolphin Point. Augmenting this exclusiveness is its “Residents-Only” access road. The house is located on over two miles of open beach from the Vashon Ferry Dock to the Muckelshoot Shellfish Reserve. It includes Winghaven, your neighborhood park, which is a little-frequented kayaking destination with walk/paddle-only accessibility and which has an area for frisbee or croquet (provided). The only thing left to do is read Betty McDonald's 'Onions in the Stew', written about this beach from her house nearby.
Imagine an evening soak in the Tiger River deluxe spa, stars overhead and city lights in the distance! Its Freshwater ozone filtration system requires only minute chlorine for freshness. Enjoy the hydromassage jets or just soak in the quiet of the waves on the beach.
Enjoy views from every room. Prepare meals while virtually floating over Puget Sound with the music of the waves on the beach 8 feet from your house. Morning coffee or an evening cocktail from one of the lanais, privacy for two while the others do the dishes? BBQ at the Waterfront? Dine at the deck’s picnic table or at the dinner table for 8 in the expansive living area? Relax on leather couches. Private bedrooms feature comfortable plush beds (no 'hide-a-beds' in the living room!). The game room downstairs features X Box, Nintendo, board games, kids books, and toys. Enjoy beachcombing, beachglass gathering, and low tide wildlife viewing (guidebooks provided).
Walk the beach. Walk 20 minutes to the Ferry Dock's restaurant for dinner or drinks in their waterfront bar. The latte stand there is open for early risers. Our newly famous May's Kitchen, one of Bon Appetit's top ten Thai restaurants in the nation, graces Vashon town. Or, stroll onto the West Seattle Ferry for a fun ride to Endolyne Joe's Eatery for a variety of menu items and Northwest brews on tap. The Passenger-Only boat will transport you to fabulous Elliot Bay and downtown Seattle and back in the afternoon (cheap cruise).
Walking south, pass Winghaven Park to the huge tract of land owned by the Mukleshoot Indians. The tribe has a small oyster and gooey duck clam hatchery on its beach. The town of Vashon is 6 just miles away by car. It offers a gourmet grocery with excellent wine offerings, open-air Saturday farmer’s market, specialty shops, bookstores, fine restaurants, art galleries, bakeries, movie theater and more.
Please note: House is NOT SUITABLE for parties or large family gatherings. WE HAVE AN 8 PERSON MAXIMUM ON THE PROPERTY AT ANY TIME, DAY OR NIGHT. PARKING IS LIMITED to 2 standard size cars.

Why Owner chose Vashon
We searched for years to find the 'perfect' waterfront property. We finally gave up. The very next day, we found IT. Read whatever philosophy into this you like, but it is truly a 'dream house' in every way for us.
What makes this House unique
With an acre of land behind it, long sandy beaches, big tides, large tracts of land nearby, the house is so serene!. We love beachcombing or trail hiking, our boat out in front for day sails. We glean firewood from logs afloat and mushroom hunt in the cooler seasons.

Stunning View - Great House!
If you are looking for your own little piece of paradise, this is it! Very private, beautiful home, lots of space, and the most stunning view of Mount Rainier right out your living room window. The main level has lots of room to spread out and relax with a wonderfully stocked kitchen with all the cooking necessities and basic condiments you could need. There is an office area with a computer hooked up to the internet and wifi access for your mobile devices as well as satellite TV for those times you just want to kick back and relax. Bathrooms are both upstairs and down - 3 bedrooms in the lower level with a bonus room for the kids to play. The only thing that should be pointed out is that the driveway, as amazing and beautiful as it may be, is steep and curvy down the ledge area to the property without much room for error. Best to not attempt with an over-sized vehicle, but mid-sized no problem. Also, you do need to walk a short trail and about 80 steps down the ledge to the home from where you park, so definitely not handicapped accessible. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful and quick to reply by email or phone with any questions you have. No regrets - loved every minute of our stay - just wish we had had more time!
Vashon Island Gem
For me, Vashon Island is a magical place. Staying at Jim and Christine's beautiful house further enhanced our experience on the Island. The house was well equipped, clean and very comfortable. We appreciated that it is located so close the Ferry Dock. It was very convenient, yet it felt very removed and remote. The house is situated around the point from the ferries so it was incredibly quiet. There was no ferry or traffic noise at all. The house is RIGHT on the water, the sound of the waves were calming, peaceful and quite mesmerizing. We really enjoyed sitting out on the bulkhead listening to the waves and taking in the beautiful views. We were very fortunate to have two Orca whales swim right past us! They put on quite a show, what an impressive Northwest experience! The views from the house were spectacular! The views were much more magnificent than what was captured in the photos. Mt. Ranier is perfectly framed by the expansive main floor windows; it was unbelievably majestic! The lay-out of the house is very nice. The kitchen, dining and living room have a nice easy flow. The open floor plan would be very conducive for gatherings with friends/family. The house has a great "hang-out factor" It's perfect for relaxing, playing games, cooking, walking the beach and in our case, whale-watching. This house is unique in that it would be a fantastic get-away in all types of weather. I imagine that it would be very dramatic in stormy weather! I would love to be there to watch the storms from such a comfortable interior. When we were there, we had a mixture of clear, calm weather and some rain. Even in the rain, it was nice to be outside on the covered decks! Jim and Christine provide everything needed for either inside or outside enjoyment. We took advantage of the perfectly clean hot tub and we thoroughly enjoyed stargazing from the hot tub. We didn't get a chance to swim or canoe, but we did enjoy a few walks on the beach.
Jim and Christine take pride in being gracious hosts, and it shows! They were very accommodating and offered some very nice welcoming touches, I would highly recommend staying at this incredible home! It is a gem! Thank you, Jim and Christine!
We had another VRBO property cancel on us last minute when we needed to be on the island for a wedding. We were lost at sea until we found Christine's property. Although a week long rental, Christine was kind enough to let us stay for the weekend, when they had a small window of availability. The house is fantastic! Aside from the great size and space for my party of 8, the location and views are spectacular. Waking up in the morning to that view of Mt Rainier was enough to make me want to come back, and soon! I have rented a few houses before but never to someone as pleasant and accommodating as Christine. Honestly that alone makes all the difference when make decisions about booking rental properties. You would regret not staying here!
Recently a group of friends embarked on one of their bucket list trips to Alaska. We had 3 days prior to our departure to Alaska to spend in Seattle. After multiple emails and phone calls (trying to please a group of 8) we got all the details worked out! The house was more than we expected...it was great with plenty of room and a view to die for and dealing with Christine & Jim was absolutely super. We loved Vashon Island and ended up spending more time on the island than in Seattle. The little community was incredible and you must visit the Lavendar Farm and the Lighthouse (our best pictures of the trip). We had an absolute wonderful weekend and started our Alaska trip off well rested and excited! If there is a future trip we know where we will stay! Thank you so much Christine & Jim!
I needed a few days to recharge after an intense stretch at work. The Dolphin Point house was perfect for that. I brought 3 friends out for the weekend with ideas of canoeing and chopping wood, thoughtful strolls on the beach, and maybe a dip in the jacuzzi. A January squall and one rain-soaked walk convinced us to spend most of our time indoors. We stoked the fire and had a wonderful time talking and cooking, eating and watching nature do her thing through the huge windows in the beautiful house. I couldn't recommend this place more. It was a most satisfying time.
Sand toys and life jackets for the kids provided. BBQ. There are two parks down the beach which are accessed only by the waterfront. They have lovely, wooded trails, extensive property and are located in a southerly direction from the house. Walk on beach to the north and round Dolphin Point where you can dine at a Mexican bar/restaurant. You may want to rent kayaks for the week of your stay. They are available and can be delivered to you. Collect beach glass which you will find in profusion. The neighbors are friendly but few. On the 4th of July you are welcome to set off fireworks on the beach, carefully of course. There is a beautiful but narrow paved private road to house. It is a switchback and runs through a beautiful forest with some mammoth Douglas firs. Vashon has many Land Trust/Parks trails. Maps provided. Dockton Park has a swim float, many fellow bathers, warm showers for you as you exit the water. Saturday Market is a marvelous place to shop, mix, listen to music, view Vashon crafts, weavings, sample baked goods, including fire baked pizza. There are many Concerts in the Park during the summer. Check Vashon Park District website for details. Strawberry Festival, mostly music, not mostly strawberries, happens in July. The Lavender Festival. Other Vashon events change annually. However, these are remote from the pristine privacy of the house and are easily avoidable if desired.
