Surrounded by nature and serenity, this charming home offers direct access to a private lake and is perfectly located just 10 minutes from Belfast and 20 minutes from Camden; close to coastal towns, yet blissfully secluded.

Start your mornings on the beautiful three-season enclosed porch overlooking the water, coffee in hand, as eagles soar overhead and loons call across the lake. Spend your days kayaking or canoeing right from your own shore, or bring along paddleboards and fishing gear to fully enjoy the lake. At sunset, unwind in the Adirondack style chairs at the water’s edge or simply relax in the quiet of the woods.
Guests have full access to kayaks, a canoe, life jackets, lawn games, and outdoor gear, making it easy to enjoy the outdoors from the moment you arrive.

Inside, Lupine Cottage is warm, light-filled, and thoughtfully equipped. The fully stocked kitchen includes all appliances, lobster-ready essentials, and an eat-in dining area with peaceful lake views. Coffee lovers will feel right at home with a Keurig, traditional coffee pot, and espresso options. The open-concept living room offers comfortable seating, abundant natural light, and a smart TV for cozy nights in.
Upstairs you’ll find a queen-size primary bedroom and a second bedroom with a double futon, ideal for couples or small groups. The home also features a full bathroom on the first floor with a stand-up shower and washer/dryer.

Great quiet cabin on a private lake. Lots to do nearby! The cabin could use some more comfortable furniture in the main room. Would definitely stay here again. Very peaceful location .

My partner and I were visiting Maine for the first time and wanted a peaceful cottage. Excellent location on Tilden Pond with Belfast about 15 minutes away. Caught some fish, kayaked, and explored several towns. We also made it to Acadia and Cadillac Mountain.

We stayed at this lovely pond retreat the week of September 7. This cottage met all of our expectations. The whole neighborhood was very quiet and serene. We never saw more than two kayakers on the pond at the same time. And, the day we kayaked, we had the pond all to ourselves (except for the bald eagle harassing the geese). The place is about 20 minutes from Camden as well as from Belfast.The cottage itself was well-stocked with all of the necessary spices, condiments, pans, and dishes. The windows in the kitchen provided a wonderful view of the pond. Several mornings we woke up to see the fog hovering over the pond - it was beautiful! The only negative with the cottage were the stairs - they are not for the faint of heart. They are steep and narrow; however, even though both of us are in our mid-sixties, we learned how to navigate them. And, this was mentioned in the VRBO write-up, so we were well aware of what to expect.All in all, we would definitely stay at this cottage again. I can’t recommend it enough!

Secluded yet accessible

If you're looking for quiet solitude that's close to every amenity you could want, this is the property. Sarah the owner is amazing and her Cottage gives you that Lakefront Maine experience.

Lovely Lake Property

The lakeside cottage is perfect for a couple or a couple of friends. The lake is fabulous with loons calling and morning mist floating by. House is just right. Kitchen has all the needed items, temperature was easy to use, plenty of towels and wifi. It was a great base camp, sitting by the lake in the morning was a perfect start. Lots of windows and an enclosed porch to watch the sunset in comfort. Close to food shopping and the quaint Belfast harbor town. The steps are steep but after a day or so you get used to them. The owner was quickly responsive to any questions and a pleasure to deal with.

Private lakeside house near seaside town of Belfast

Sara welcomed us for our romantic getaway with a bottle of wine and fresh blueberries. The small house is private, wooded, close to the lake, with an eagle soaring, osprey fishing, hummingbirds, and the evocative call of loons. In the morning we took our coffee to chairs by the lake watching frogs swim among the reeds and myriad of birds and insects in the native shrubs and wildflowers. If we were home in the evening we drank prosecco on cushioned wicker in the screened porch with a view of the water. The house is small but comfy for two or four (no toddlers or anyone who cannot manage narrow, steep stairs). We swam and kayaked on the lake and also went afield to hike, take an evening sail from Rockland, and explore the nearby towns. Nearby Belfast is delightful, not too touristy yet. Take the harbor walk then stop at Nautilus for seafood with a harbor view on the deck, Moonbat Bakery for homemade croissants, the year-round farmer and craft market Saturday morning, toy store, bags made from old sails, and galleries. Chase’s Daily offers good local vegetarian fare. At nearby Northport take the informal tour at Swans Island weaving, then buy a locally woven Maine blanket, shawl or yarn. A few miles from town is Mainely Pottery showcasing 28 potters, then walk around Sears Island beachcombing at low tide and watch cormorants dive underwater to fish. We enjoyed our week so much we plan to book Sara’s place again next year.

Sara visited Maine as a child with her dad, who always had a dream to have a little cabin on a lake. Before her dad passed away, though he never gave himself his dream, he was able to visit and enjoy canoeing, and lobster dinners served up on the porch watching and listening to the loons with Sara. Belfast is still a community of people who are patient, kind and look out for one another ... life the way it should be!!

Why they chose this property

This is a very special place, as there is no public landing. So, most of the time, you'll have the lake to yourself if/when out in the kayak or canoe, or swimming, sunning, or just sitting on the shore enjoying the birdlife. Sometimes, you'll get quite a show of the eagles dancing and swirling overhead as they chase the fish below.

What makes this property unique

Belmont is conveniently located ten minutes from Belfast, where the Hannaford food market is available for all your food, liquor and pharmaceutical needs. Downtown has a wonderful food Co-op, complete with deli, cafe and natural foods, as well as local produce. There is a farmer's market on Fridays and Saturdays. Belfast is an arts community with plenty of galleries, festivals, theater and/or picnics on the harbor front with a walking and cycle-friendly promenade. There is a public, outdoor pool in the park, a YMCA with fitness facilities and indoor swimming pool, and bicycles for rent at the local cycle shop. There is so much to do, it's hard to choose. A welcome guide is provided in the home and full of recommendations for events, restaurants, shops, and area attractions.
