Amazing place, photos don’t do it justice. Gorgeous pool and water view, quiet small condo complex, and 5 min walk to pretty, sandy beach with the best snorkeling on the island. Kitchen was well equipped and location is good. Hosts responsive and flexible.

Great views and well equipped

A great location with gorgeous views. We loved jumping into the pool after a day at one of Anguilla's many beaches. In the center of the island, so easy to get around with a car. Apartment had all the basics we need to make breakfast every day to enjoy on the balcony. Joyce was extremely helpful and responsive. Would recommend.

Quick Trip to Anguilla

The unit had a great view of the ocean and was in the perfect location for us. The property manager and owner were very responsive to issues that we experienced with the Internet and did their best to resolve them in a timely fashion. The unit was clean and a good value.

Sea/pool view

Beautiful view in a lovely, well appointed unit facing the pool and ocean. Outstanding communication with Joyce, our property manager throughout our stay. Very clean and comfortable unit in a quiet area. Expect a little noise during the day as you’re directly in front of the pool. Great location here, with short drives to everything you might need. On occasion have even walked to the grocery store from here. Love the small beach - usually very quiet and more for walking or wading, not really swimming. Just a great place to relax and recharge.

Fun in Anguilla

We visited Anguilla for the first time recently and loved this little island. Staying at the the superbly maintained Shangrila was awesome. It has and incredible view of the ocean and pool area. The beach area was a short 4 min walk from the Condo and was very private with great snorkeling. The island people were wonderful and we had many great meals. The proprietors, Mark and Christine, gave us wonderful recommendations on restaurants and local areas of interest. I would recommend this home away from home to everyone from couples to small families. You will not be disappointed.

Not what you expect of a property rental

We had to clean all the dishes before using, clean all cabinets exterior, toilet seat fell apart so I repaired it myself ,trash container was all mold and dirt under the bag when we changed the trash, just something you don’t expect when your on a vacation.

Beautiful Unit with great views!

Nice unit (very clean) on the South side of Anguilla! Very smooth check-in and welcome from Joyce. The complex is a bit remote and road into it was a little rough, but unit was exactly as described and very comfortable for our party of 3! Great beds! Nice outdoor dining area. Great snorkeling from an adjacent sandy beach. Quiet relaxing area of the island and not too far from great beaches. Beach in front is coral/lava, not sandy, but interesting to walk on. Pool is great but needs a little maintenance. All in all, a wonderful stay!

Our vacation

1. Joyce was WONDERFUL and made our trip the best! She baked my daughter a birthday cake and gave her a bottle of wine, which we got to share with her. Joyce's granddaughter, Mya, was and angel and my 3 year old granddaughter was in love with her and her kindness. Yall are THE best.2. Here are our suggestions for improvement:-advertising as a 3 bedroom is misleading due to the small size and lack of air conditioning. Add an A/C in the room.- air conditioner in 2nd bedroom failed repeatedly and didn't work at all the last HOT night. Get it fixed.- tiny ants were all over the kitchen, clean dishes, clean coffee pot, stove and floor. Get an exterminator. -

Beautiful location on the sea

Directions need to be clearer Turn right BEFORE roundabout. Beautiful overlooking sea with rocky beach just a few minutes walk to Sandy cove with some OK snorkeling No restaurants within walking distance Lacked clear information on use of AC. Lacked essentials like a broom and cutting board. No explanation of available housekeeping services/ cost Third bedroom is questionable Initial problems reaching owner to answer questions but after initial delay responded promptly

This condo unit was much as advertised, the setting is gorgeous and the saltwater pool awesome. However, the biggest glitch occurred upon our arrival (via ferry) to Anguilla...CUSTOMS! We encountered big problems because we did not know the physical address. After numerous phone calls and a lot of hassle we were granted entry. The "rental car" has a hefty charge for insurance and drivers license but is a must. The grocery store was convenient and essential as there is nowhere nearby to eat. Joyce, the caretaker, is friendly and helpful and solved many problems. The islanders are the most friendly of anywhere I've been. If you are seeking solitude and serenity this is your place.

Great Spot

We rented this place for the first week of Feb. We had a great time. New pool was ver nice, with good lounge chairs and right next to the ocean. Balcony is a good place for morning coffee overlooking the water. Strong Wifi, A/C we only used for sleeping because we closed windows overnight. Otherwise the temp was perfect in and out. Kitchen was perfectly adequate. We cooked breakfast there daily. Note: Best Buy supermarket just up the road has decent produce and other food supplies, and they make great lunches -ribs, fish, etc- at a great price. You should rent a car. We drove to a different beach each day and a car is needed for sure. Right by the turnoff road to the condo is a small vet clinic and pet rescue. On the way to the airport on the last day we adopted a puppy and flew her back to the US with us. It was so easy and the clinic could not have been better to deal with. Very professional. Go play with the puppies during the week, you may adopt one too! Best souvenir ever.

Disappointing

We have used VRBO many times in the past and have always found the properties to be honestly represented, until this time. The picture of the view was the only thing that was accurate. From the start, the unit was a total disappointment. It was not clean, not stocked with essentials like toilet paper, and had no wifi or television, even though it was advertised to have it. The owner was hard to get a hold of and everything we brought to her attention, she wanted to debate with us. We were promised wifi, 2 people in my group have their own businesses and needed to be connected. That took 3 days to resolve, apparently some kind of "account mix-up" that had happened to the previous renters also. Then there was no TV. We were told that there was no TV since IRMA which was 2 years ago? I had a cockroach crawling around the front of the dresser I used. The dishes and glasses were dirty and in disgraceful condition. The road to the complex was horrible, which wasn't the owner's fault but she could have warned us, we would have gotten an SUV. We spent more time in the car looking for the beaches, again not her fault. Unfortunately, this was not our first time in Anguilla. We have always found the people on the island to be friendly and happy. But, not the people here. The office was not helpful. It was advertised that there was a washer and dryer. There was a public one on site, but the dryer was broken and looked like it had been for some time. So all in all, not our usual VRBO experience.

Sandy Hill Bay is a delight!

We are a party of 5 that visited Sandy Hill Bay over the New Year holiday. It was myself, my husband, our two little girls ages 2 &5 and my 23yr old sister. We loved the apartment and would love to visit again. The booking process was very simple and Christine was easy to work with. We did have a slight mishap over a week period where Christine was having issues with her computer. We had rented the car that came along with the property but it seemed at the last minute, the car was unavailable. Christine did not hesitate and she jumped right into finding us another vehicle on the island. In my opinion the car is essential on Anguilla to get to experience everything. Upon arriving at the condo, Joyce, the manager came right over and showed us everything that we would need to know. She also gave us some great advice on some restaurants in the area as we had a very long day of traveling and the kids were starving! Joyce is so sweet that she even brought us some delicious hot sauce at the end of the week and took our addresses to send us more b/c my husband LOVED the hot sauce! The apartment had everything we needed and much more! There were extra spices and such needed for cooking in the pantry, toys for the kids to play with and plenty of artwork and Anguillan information to read. There is a full bathroom with shower in each bedroom and we had no problem washing off the girls without a tub. Showers actually worked better for them. There is A/C in each bedroom and they work great! At this time of year the pool would get sun in the morning so we would cook breakfast and have our coffee on the balcony overlooking the pool and ocean then let the girls swim for a little while before we would go explore the gorgeous beaches! After a few goes at it the island is very easy to navigate, people are so incredibly nice and we did not have a bad meal on the island! The food is delicious! We did have an issue with the wifi not working and we were unable to get a hold of anyone but we really didn't try too hard either. We were trying to stay off our phones anyway! At one point I did have to connect to home and the ladies at the office gave me their wifi and password so I could connect while near their office and that worked just fine! There is a supermarket, gas station and liquor store all nearby which worked out perfectly for us. Overall we had a wonderful stay at Christine's property on Sandy hill bay! Christine and Joyce were a pleasure!

Beautiful setting and comfortable accommodations.

First, the view of Sandy Hill Bay from our unit is a daily delight! The ocean is a bit rougher here than on more protected coves and the crashing waves made for excellent sleeping! There is a sandy beach in close proximity. The pool is nice and clean and the chaises are very comfy. The apartment had everything we needed and more. The bed was super-comfortable and the linens were of nice quality. Everything was clean and tidy. A laundry facility is on the premises and, on the shelves, there are numerous books for guests to enjoy. Our manager, Joyce, was amazing! She checked in with us daily to make sure we had everything we wanted from directions to shops to answers about the culture. Having the car with the rental was easy and, for us, essential. The unit is in a collection of 3 buildings on the south-east side of the island. Art galleries, shopping, and restaurants are sprinkled all over the island, so a car is a must. Driving is on the left, British-style, but the roads are generally not crowded and locals make accommodations for tourists. More about the locals: Anguillans are beautiful inside and out! They are a gentle, generous people, very helpful and kind. We look forward to coming back soon.

Nice!

Anguilla is a beautiful island. Sandy Hill Club is a very quiet area with a salt water pool and a sandy beach at a 5 min walk away over rocky terrain (wear shoes). The unit has a shower, but no tub. The unit could use a deep cleaning. I did not like the bed as it was too soft for me, but my spouse did not seem to mind it. The children's bunk beds were much firmer. Overall, though, we did not spend much time in the unit because there are so many beautiful beaches to experience. We felt like this was a very safe area. There are laundry machines but they cost $4 to wash and $4 to dry, so we did not use them. Oddly, the umbrellas at the pool belong to the individual condo unit owners, and this particular unit did not come with an umbrella. FYI there is not any shade at the pool. We enjoyed our stay at Sandy Hill Club.

As a Nurse Anesthetist, I run a US based non-profit medical organization, People for Haiti, that provides free medical care to residents of Haiti. Since 2010, we have made 37 trips and treated over 38,000 patients in addition to educating several Haitians in nursing, medical and engineering schools. We travel several times a year and treat approximately 500 patients during a 5 day trip.

I have been traveling to Anguilla since 2001 and have been bringing my three children since they were infants. Participating in local events is always a highlight of our trips and I have made lifelong friends in Anguilla. Honestly, one of the best attributes of the island is the people are truly proud, amazing, kind, polite, and helpful and are there to be sure you enjoy their island.

In 2017, Hurricane IRMA was a direct hit to Anguilla as a category 5 hurricane with winds over 200mph. Winds devastated homes, hotels, roads and businesses. Within days, the Anguillian people began to restore the island to its beauty. What was anticipated as a year of power and water outages, was restored within months. The residents worked tirelessly to help their own neighbors, family and friends in a way I have truly only seen on this island. They are of a proud, determined heritage and loving culture that far exceeded the expectations of those watching from afar. Within months, Anguilla was open for business and welcoming guests back to enjoy the beauty and hospitality of Anguilla.
