'Halfmoon Lake ' is a private residence on 17 secluded acres which include timber, meadows and 1000 feet of frontage on Halfmoon Lake. The property, formally called 'Murphy's at the Lake', is under new management and is called 'Halfmoon Lake Lodge'. Our desire is to provide your three generation family or group of friends with a wonderful, private location next to Glacier Park. We host small weddings as well.
Towering over the property are the Belton Mountains. These mammoth giants outline the sky in three directions and grace the lake frontage with spectacular views. There are no other properties or residences on the place, which adds to the uniqueness and exclusiveness of 'Halfmoon Lake Lodge'. Deer and Elk frequent the property and for this reason the back yard is fenced. Then, to top it off, Glacier National Park with all of its incredible scenery is only 2 miles away.
The home is large with lots of space and privacy. The main floor consists of a living room in the center part of the house with a dividing counter between the kitchen and dinning area. On the west side of the living room are three bedrooms and two baths, one handicap accessible. On the east side is an office, two large bedrooms, bathroom and a /sunroom/greenhouse. On the second floor is a large master suite (500 sq.') with a king size bed, leather sofa, sitting area, desk, bath, and balcony. Full laundry is off the kitchen area. The house has a total of 6 bedrooms, with extra sleeping on couches and the sun room and 4 bathrooms.
The large back yard has flowers and raised garden beds, picnic tables, lounge chairs, BBQ, slide, teeter tooter and a perimeter fence that can be shut to keep small children from roaming out and game animals from wandering in.
On the west side of the house is a kennel, should you want to leave your pet while in the park. On the south side of the house, a cul-de-sac driveway borders a central yard complete with spruce trees, shrubs, and flowers. And to the southeast a small road/path approaches the lake for access. We've moved a small cabin to the lake for fisherman and kids who want to hang out in something different. In addition a small canoe and row boat are availabe. There is limited fishing gear and life vests stored in the fishing cabin. near the lake. This cabin can be used for the adventurous who want to sleep near the lake.
'Halfmoon Lake Lodge is great for small weddings, family groupings (especially the 3 generations...grandparents, adult kids and the grandkids) and larger traveling groups. Everyone has their own space and as well as space to gather and enjoy one another. We are open May through September. Price adjustments are available in the spring and fall. We prefer renting one week at a time, though shorter times may be negotiated.

My brother owned this property for many years and loved the location. He passed away in 2006 and we have been fortunate enough to acquire his dream place and keep it alive. At one time he was intending to build a large lodge on the lake to host groups. We decided to remodel the home and offer it as a vacation place for others to use. We love the location, the mountain views and open scenery. We know you will as well.
Midge Harkins and Marion Foley purchased this lodge in 2014

"Our two families had a wonderful time at 'Muphy's on the Lake'. It was very relaxing and private and after hiking all day we'd come back, relax, and play poker...we even watched a meteor shower at the lake one night...and Ted helped our 10 yr. old son learn how to cast. Thanks everyone... Aug 2008"
"Your cozy and spacious home was a perfect spot for our family reunion. We enjoyed daily use of the canoe and the tranquility of this location. Our sons enjoyed fishing on Halfmoon Lake and the grandparents loved the back patio with its beautiful flowers. Aug 2008

Sept 2009
My family stayed there over the 4th of July and it was wonderful. There were 11 of us and it was more than enough room. The kitchen was fully equipped and even had a drawer full of spices. There are 4 bathrooms which helped tremendously when we were all trying to get ready in the morning. The washer and dryer came in handy when we got wet in the lake.
My son fished off the dock and loved it. The girls went out in the kayak and others took out the row boat. Later in the evening we made s'mores around the fire pit. Truly a wonderful weekend and something we would consider doing again at this location.
I'm unsure as to why one of the reviewers was disappointed in the handyman being on the property. He is in his own house across the road and only came over to see if we needed anything or had any questions. Other than that we didn't see him. We like the idea of having someone so close in case we had any problems.
The location, which is 3 minutes from West Glacier was wonderful, but we were disappointed with the house. It was advertised with 6 queen beds and a pair of bunk beds, but we only had 5 queen beds and no bunk beds. The beds were comfortable but advertised incorrectly. The grounds outside was were not maintained well. We traveled with a group of 20 and Marion had told us that the boys could sleep in the sun room. The sun room was concrete and not very clean, they had junk pulled up in that room, making it impossible for Anyone to sleep in it. We were also disappointed that one of the owners actually stayed on the property in an out building. It was not communicated with us ahead of time that we would be sharing the propriety. Marion responded to email, phone calls before we booked the house, but didn't respond or communicate back once we booked the house. I did email her about our concerns but never heard back. We made the best of it and had a great time at Glacier but very disappointed with our house
Myself, my 3 grown children and their kids stayed here in July. Can't praise enough how kid friendly it is. Fenced back area with lots of playground toys and room to run. A pack n play is available and I left a walker for other to use. 6 great bedrooms with comfy beds, the kitchenette on the addition was useful for my young family with a 9 month old and a 2 year old. They kept bottles and baby food close to their room and didn't have to go to the kitchen. The boat house was nice to sit and relax and the canoe, boat and single pontoon rafts were enjoyed by all. Lots of room for 16 people and 2 dogs. Had a problem with the sump pump on the on the addition but that was taken care of quickly. Had deer in the front and back area each evening and 2 young female elk close by. Wooded and very peaceful. I would highly recommend this "cabin" to any group looking to enjoy the peace and beauty of the Glacier area.
Our three-generation family reunion (six adults, four children) enjoyed a week in late June 2012 at this outstanding property. A roomy comfortable house, fenced in back yard with play equipment, beautiful flowers everywhere, a small lakefront cabin with canoe, boats, and a secluded location just 4 1/2 miles from the West entrance to Glacier National Park! The house is fully furnished with all amenities. A total of six bedrooms (one a suite on the upper floor), four bathrooms, and a relaxing sun room should the weather inhibit enjoying the outdoors. The only challenge was deciding whether to relax on the property watching the deer and paddling on the lake or exploring the wonders of nearby Glacier National Park. We did both and loved it! Thanks to Ted and Marion for a memorable week!
Three generations/10 people spent a week here in August 2011. Well maintained and well stocked property. Flower beds and vegetable gardens surround the house. All linens and soft towels provided. We particularly liked having four bathrooms - each family had their own. We used it as a launching point for the many activities in and around Glacier Park. Half Moon Lake is not visible from the house. There is a dirt road on the property that leads down to it. We took advantage of the canoe and rowboat for fishing and nature watching on the lake. The property owner, Ted, was easily accessible whenever we had a question or needed something.
Halfmoon Lake House is a large, secluded, private lodge next to Glacier National Park and the Belt Mountains. It's just the place for large groups or three generation get togethers. Halfmoon Lake is within 200 yards. Here we have a small fishing cabin on the Lake, complete with fishing gear, life vests, a canoe, fishing boat and small paddle boat. The lake is non motorized and perfect for canoeing or kyacking as well as fishing. The lodge is located on several acres of private woods, with a large fenced in back yard, a sun room and some out buildings.
West Glacier is only 5 min. away, complete with shops, rentals, Headquarters, Visitor Centers, rafting, restaurant's, and a golf course.

Given the remoteness of the property and the need for frequent watering of flowers and lawns, we have retained a care taker who stays at the Shop. Ted can answer any questions you have, help with the boats, fix any problems that might arise in the house, or know who to call or contact should some other issue arise.
