Hi! My name is Nancy, I live in Lakehead, a few miles from the Shasta Lakehouse. I work at a nearby restaurant/bar, and I know the local marina owners, store owners, fishing guides, and so on. I've lived in the area for almost twenty five, so I also know the lake and the surrounding areas well. I'm usually available and happy to help if you have questions about what to do, or where to go, or if you have special needs, such as catering, or renting equipment.
Lots of vacation rentals are run by out-of-towners, but I take pride in being available to make sure your vacation is the best! I HAVE to run a great house, because if anything wasn't just as I said, you'd know where to find me!!
I'll be happy to meet your group when you arrive and show you around. It's always fun to see the look on people's faces when they arrive and see how amazing our whole layout is. And it's even more fun to hear from them later about what a great time they had, and how much they loved the house, with something for everyone. They're always amazed at how everything is provided for them.
We love what we do, seeing families come together, and hearing how some of the city folks got a rare chance to enjoy the great outdoors. It's the best.
Come see us!!
Nancy J. Rennekamp purchased this house in 1990

You simply get the best of the best at this mini resort. You never have to leave to have fun.
Everything is spread out so when you want some privacy you'll have it. The house is unique for being close to everything yet very private and surrounded by trees. You have the feeling of being in your own world. There are many special touches added over the years of having lived there. A good time at the Lakehouse does not depend on the water levels or the weather to have fun. There may be other places that can accommodate your group as well but if you like to be in private surroundings instead of a neighborhood with homes all around, the Lakehouse offers that. If you would like to be able to walk around the lake and easily walk to all the venues and markets this house is in the perfect location.. All that and the indoor and outdoor activities make it one of the first and best vacation rentals on Lake Shasta
Thank you for letting us spend a week in Xanadu !! Talk about an ideal space to celebrate 2 -80th birthdays!

Our Gang from: Washington, DC, Berkeley CA, Carlsbad, CA & Shingletown, CA will be back.
What a great time we had at this house! We came to celebrate summer break with our teenage son and 5 of his friends. The kids loved having the downstairs to themselves… watching movies and playing ping pong/pool/cards til all hours of the night, while we adults could have nice and quiet upstairs. Accommodations were perfect for us and could easily hold more.
We were lucky that the lake was full this year. We rented a boat from Antler’s Marina (just 2 miles away) and were able to anchor it right at the house. The tubing was a blast. And the house is on a quiet cove so the kids also enjoyed just floating around on toys, having water fights, and exploring the large, quiet area. They had it all to themselves! I enjoyed reading my book on the comfortable deck overlooking the beautiful cove. There was also some nice bike riding we did right from the house.
The only issue I had with the lake (and this would be the same no matter which property you rented) is that it is pretty rocky and steep at the “beach” areas. So getting in and out of the water was a little tricky for me (although the kids had no problem). So I just bought a rope at the store down the street, tied it to a tree and ran it down to the water. Then I could pull on it to more easily get in/out of the water. That worked great. Since it gets so steep right away, we could keep the boat just 5-10 feet from shore without it hitting the motor. That was convenient.
Nancy was wonderful to work with. She met us right away and showed us everything in the house and cabins. She’s so friendly! We had a very small problem with one of the bathrooms one day and she was out there within a couple hours and had it fixed. The house was the best stocked that we’ve ever rented.
The kids loved that they could easily walk to get pizza and ice-cream floats on their own. I loved having the convenience store so close. It was so easy to cook for everyone (the house has 2 nice, big propane grills) so we ate most meals there.
We will definitely stay here again the next time we go to Shasta!
I loved everything about this home. It looked better in person than it did in the photos. Aside from there being no lake in the backyard (beyond anybody's control), this place is totally worth a visit to Lakehead. I was impressed with the bedrooms. They were all a nice size and very clean and comfortable. The master bedroom was awesome with a lot of room and a beautiful bathroom. There were 19 people in our group and this house comfortably fit us all! We even utilized the tents in the back, which folks loved. My sister kept saying how she was extremely impressed with all the dishes and silverware. Not once did we run out of anything with our large group. I was really impressed with how much there is to do on the property itself. There is a swing set for the kids, which they loved; a volleyball/badminton net, which I loved, a game room, and firepits! We sat by the fire having drinks and making s'mores and memories. I can go on and on about all that this house offered and the wonderful time we had. But what really stood out to me was how wonderful the owners of the house were. Nancy and her husband Michael were very responsive and attentive to our needs. Even though Nancy had plans to be out of town and then to entertain guests, she made sure she at least stopped by to meet me and see how everything was going. Nancy and Michael are definitely class acts! I already highly recommended this place to friends and will hopefully be back next year.
When my in-laws and I were searching for a house to rent, we came across this gorgeous house near Shasta Lake. We found the house affordable with all the amenities we were looking for. It was a major plus that the owner, Nancy was a gem to work with! Two payments allowed everyone to budget accordingly. Upstairs, the wraparound deck and 4 bedrooms had a great view. The kitchens had everything we needed to cook for 18 people (plus 3 babies). The yard had a swing set the kids loved an the game room kept everyone occupied for hours of pool and ping-pong every day! I would highly recommend it to any group!!!
We came together, as we do every other year, from all over the USA and Saudi and spent a wonderful week together. The house was perfect. Big, roomy, lots to do for everyone, inside and outside, very nice and attentive owners. The stairs have built in gates to protect the little ones. It was great!! The only thing keeping my review from being 5+ stars is that the lake is so very dried up. It would not have change our staying there, but it might have changed where we made reservations for water craft. All in all, it was wonderful!! Thanks Nancy and Mike
We chose this house for my family's vacation this year and it was perfect. We needed a large house to accommodate grandparents, parents and kids. The house has plenty of room for everyone including a large kitchen, lots of bedrooms and bathrooms and multiple living areas. We found everything we needed in the kitchen and the laundry room is very convenient. The outside spaces and "campground" were wonderful, with lots of places for the kids to play and comfortable beds in the tent cabins. With the game room, playground, badminton court, screened-in porches, fire pits, horseshoes and hiking trails right out the back door, there was plenty for everyone to do. It is centrally located to all the Shasta attractions and there is a store within walking distance. Our host met us upon arrival and was available if needed, but we never had to call her because whenever we needed something, we found it to be there. I would recommend this property to anyone with a large group and hope to stay there again with my family.
The house is in good shape and there is lots of space on the property to gather or get away from it all. Our week flew by! We did have a few minutes drive to get to water, but this has been a very dry year. After a good winter the lake is right behind the house! We had a group of 20 people including kids stay here and every one of us had a great time. The owners have thought of every convenience and are very hospitable.
