About the property

3 Bed/2 bath, WIFI, DIRECTV, bear spray, hiking stick rentals, Mtn View, private

Stay in comfort at this splendid home and share the wonders of Glacier National Park while retaining the option to be connected to the 'real world' through WIFI internet and satellite television. Share in the pride of sitting atop high peeks, relaxing beside a cool mountain lake, float down a white water river or engage in the culture of the local Blackfeet People native to this area. East Glacier Park is centered around the spirit of the Rocky Mountain front, the natural wonders offered by Glacier National Park, and around the people who came before us.

The town of East Glacier is the most convenient location for visiting all of the park. We are proud to have our own remote entrance only 10 minutes away, (Two Medicine), as well as either end of Going to the Sun Road within an hour, making us the perfect place for "the loop".

This is a great, new home centrally located in the small, quaint town of East Glacier Park, Montana. The view of the Rocky Mountain front from the living room and dining area is one that never seizes to impress. The kitchen is fully functional with all utilities, a dining table and plenty of counter space. The living room is furnished with plenty of seating and has a vaulted ceiling giving it a spacious, yet cozy feel with satellite television, a DVD player and WiFi connection throughout the house.

There are three bedrooms in the house. The master bedroom features a queen sized dark wood sleigh bed and private two sink bathroom. There is a second bedroom with a king sized bed and finally, a twin over full bunk bed in the third bedroom. If you need to sleep more than 7 people, there is also an inflatable queen sized mattress and a full length couch in the living room giving room to sleep 10 maximum. For the more adventurous, there is even a futon on the front porch. Clean fresh air makes for fantastic sleep, but beware of wandering bears.

The porch off the front door is perfect for watching the sun set behind some of East Glacier's most famous peaks including Dancing Lady, CalfRobe, Mt. Henry and Summit peak. The yard is fenced in and landscaped with beautiful perennials, bulbs and grass.

Newly added is a gravel b.b.q. patio with a picnic table and gas grill.

About Wendy Gates

I was raised in North Idaho and have lived most of my adult life in Montana. I am an educator of mathematics, physics, English as a second language and most recently a downhill ski instructor. That is until recently when I fell in love with a fisherman. Now, we like traveling, meeting new people and spending time outdoors while we run two vrbos in Montana and our guide business on the Olympic Peninsula in Forks, Washington. (See Silver Lined Guides on google as VRBO does not allow posting of urls.) I am a friendly person and enjoy conversation. So, do please, feel free to contact me for inquiries about rental and about the Glacier Park area. My better half's name is "Smiles" and he too loves to share our special place with others, so don't be afraid to say hello.

Wendy Gates purchased this house in 2006

Why Wendy Gates chose East Glacier Park

I chose to buy this home because I taught in the area during the school year. The house was not purchased as a rental, but for my own home. Since leaving the local school district, and the classroom as a whole, I realized that people would really enjoy spending time in a comfortable place while on vacation in Glacier National Park. Renting my house to them for the summer months allows me to share a special place with others.

What makes this house unique

The mountain views and fresh air are unmatched outside of the Rocky mountains and the slower pace to living is beneficial for the soul. There are also so many activities to keep me busy that I am never bored. It is the perfect location for outdoor entertainment and exercise with a slower style of life and always something beautiful to see.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful home. The kids loved the bunkbeds as they have never slept in them before. It was so nice to have a fully functional kitchen and washing machine and dryer. We enjoyed every second here and hope to come back in the future.

East Glacier is a great little town with nice shops featuring local pottery, art, wood carving and general Glacier Park gifts. Many restaurants are within a mile walking distance of the house and the entire park, east, west, north or south side, are accessible from this centralized location.

The town of East Glacier sits on the southeast corner of the park. Therefore, West Glacier, (the west entrance), is only 1 hour west, St. Maries is less than an hour north and Many Glacier is just over an hour north. Waterton, Glacier's sister park in Canada is also a relatively quick trip at just around 2 hours north.

The Canadian Rockies are extremely majestic with shear cliff faces that inspire awe. I have also heard reports, and have myself seen, abundant wildlife in the general Waterton area. Bring your passport.

The pictures capture the home just as it really is!

  • 5 of 5

We were completely comfortable in Wendy's home. It was clean, attractive, well equipped, and well located ..... accessible to the railroad station and to the main roads into the park and walkable within the small town of East Glacier. Wendy was immediately responsive to our questions (by email), and even apologized for the sky's smoky overcast from the park's forest fires from the west side of the park. We definitely recommend this property to travelers to Glacier Park.

Great Home in East Glacier

  • 4 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed this home in East Glacier! The beds were very comfortable and we had plenty of room to spread out. The home is located near restaurants and lots of hiking areas in East Glacier! Our only issue was that we could not get the WIFI to work. But other than that, it was a wonderful place to stay!

Owner's Response: Thanks for choosing us! We are not surprised that your only issue was the internet. I only wish you had asked for help as we are close by and would have been able to solve your only problem with the house. Thanks again for choosing us! Wendy

Owner's Response: Thanks for the visit. We hope you had a good time in Glacier. Bit of an odd review as this is not really a bungalow, but I assume you are referring to the remodeled master bath and thank you! We love it too!

Great house near Glacier NP

  • 5 of 5

Seven members of our family spent a week at this house and we had a wonderful time. The house is located close to Glacier National Park, is very clean, and has plenty of space. We spent most of the time doing day hikes and experiencing the beauty of this part of the country. Wendy was great and very helpful, providing much information, responding extremely quickly to our questions and making us feel at home.
