About the property

2 bedrooms, queen-size sleep sofa in LR, 1 full bath, sleeps 6.

Whitetail Hide-Away is located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in northern Bedford County. It is nestled in a private, wooded setting with a mountain creek behind the cottage. Sit on the back deck and listen to the creek and the many types of birds and just unwind.

This makes for a great romantic get-away. It is very popular with couples on their honeymoon, celebrating anniversaries or just looking for quiet secluded place to rekindle the flame. It is very private there are no other homes nearby. If you're looking for scenic, peaceful place to retreat from everyday stress this is it.

This cottage has spiraling steps to the upper and lower floors. It has a full bath on the upper level. The upper level has a queen-size bed. The living room has a queen size sleep sofa. The lower room has a full size bed. Please bring your own linens, pillowcases & towels.

The lower level also opens to a covered and screened patio with a 5-person spa in which to relax. We are meticulous in cleaning and maintaining our spa.

We do not use the "Book it Now" feature with HomeAway because they charge the visitor a 9% fee for using that feature. We have to pay an extra $200 per year to HomeAway for not allowing them to charge our guests the extra fee. We strive to keep our cabin affordable. You won't be disappointed staying at our cabin. You will enjoy the peace and quiet, soaking in the hot tub, grilling on the deck while be serenaded by the creek and just kicking back!

About Michael Ashworth

Michael Ashworth is retired from the Virginia Department of Game & Inland Fisheries. He worked 30 years in wildlife law enforcement as a Virginia Game Warden Captain. Michael grew up in Bassett, Va and graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Biology. He and his wife Patricia have three children and have lived in Bedford, Virginia since 1978. Patricia is a Mary Kay Director.

Michael Ashworth purchased this cabin in 2003

Why Michael Ashworth chose Central Virginia

We bought this property because it had many qualities that I knew would make it a great get-away. First is location. There are no other homes in sight. The closest in one direction is over 1/4 mile and in the other direction over one mile. Too many vacation get-aways are jammed up together and offer no privacy or peace. Another attractive is how cozy the cabin is. It's an A-frame and not a sprawling mega-house with no personality.

What makes this cabin unique

This property should be specially attractive to guests because it's directly handled by the owners. We want our guests to have the same quality vacation we expect when we travel. We encourage and welcome our guests to call us at any time while staying here if they have any issues or need any information about the area. Since, cell phone service is limited in the area of the cabin we welcome guests to give family members our home and cell numbers in case family members need to contact them in an emergency and we will gladly go and relay the message.

Lovely cozy cabin, great secluded location.

  • 4 of 5

This cozy cabin had everything we required. There were three levels with 3 beds, well stacked kitchen, good bathroom, and a bonus hot tub on the lower deck. Spiral staircase took a little focus, esp when taking luggage up or down. Good location as we wanted to be in a quiet area. Stock up with supplies on your way there as nearest petrol station and store are about 5 miles away. Lots to see and do in the area. The Blue Ridge Parkway is close by.

Quiet tree top getaway

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for the quietest of quiet places to rest for a few days... or even a week or more, this is the place for you. The Hot Tub is amazing and being way up that mountain is like you have your very own little retreat.

Bring your things to grill, there are a few restaurants but take about 30 or so minutes to get to them. Which was fine by us because we enjoyed our drive. I definitely recommend the Peaks of Otter Lodge for lunch or dinner and take a walk around the lake.... then head back and enjoy the Hot Tub and a good cup of coffee and a book.

Very clean place and the owner is very accommodating and available to answer any questions. He even bought me a hummingbird feeder.... and those sweet birds showed up!

Thanks again!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review! We are delighted you all had a great time. I appreciate the idea about the hummingbird feeders and thanks for the extra one you left for the cabin. The hummingbirds are swarming both of the feeders. We'll keep hummingbird feeders up at the cabin from now on. We hope you get to come back again. Michael & Patricia Ashworth

Retreat for the Soul

  • 5 of 5

You seriously cannot go wrong with this sweet cabin! Everything you need is there, including a comfy bed and a soaking hot tub! It's quiet, extremely clean, and just the retreat needed for a couple or small family! It's close to many attractions, both in nature (Natural Bridge, etc) and the city (Lynchburg, etc.) This is a favorite of ours now and we plan to return again and again.

Cozy Hideaway

This was a great place to relax and unwind. We spent 4 nights here, the cabin was well-stocked and the hot tub is a great touch. It was lovely to have morning coffee on the deck surrounded by woods.
