Cottage on Inverness Bay!

Bedrooms 1
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Cottage, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-3)

This is a unique opportunity to experience an Inverness cottage of your own. It is located on six acres stretching along the beginning of Tomales Bay. Enjoy gardens, flowers, orchard, marshes and year-round creek. There is an abundant variety of birds and wildlife.

Tomales Bay is at your back door, providing endless vistas of beauty and interest. Enjoy the ever-changing flow of water and quality of light. As the tide rises, take in the reflection of sky and rolling hills from the opposite shore, or the full moon rising over Black Mountain. The views are expansive.

As the tide recedes, watch for the variety of birds foraging for food along the shore, or footprints of deer as they move through the area. You may enjoy the view from the living room, outdoor deck, or sitting at the edge of the bay.

The cottage is approximately 3 miles from the Point Reyes National Seashore visitor Center, and just 2 miles from the town of Inverness.

Beautiful, unique, charming retreat

  • 5 of 5

The cottage was very well maintained and had everything we needed for our weekend stay. The bed was so comfortable, and the spa tub was amazing. The location is superb - right on a natural wetland where you can observe wildlife and truly relax - yet also close to excellent hiking and restaurants as well as the wonderful Bovine Bakery in Pt. Reyes station. We would definitely stay here again.

Lovely property.

My husband and I enjoyed our two night stay. We loved the beautiful setting and connection to nature. The cottage is super comfortable and welcoming we could image a longer stay at some point. I would of liked to have more information on how to run the heater.

Owner's Response: Dear Joanie, Thank you for your comments - I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay! The heater is operated by the wall-mounted thermostat nearby - I"m sorry that was not clear to you. I will add a little sign above the thermostat for future guests. Thanks again and I hope you can return soon!

Delightfully relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely relaxing weekend. The expansive view of the wetlands out back was remarkable. Inside, the cottage had everything we needed. The kitchen was well stocked with equipment, the bed was super comfortable, there was plenty of space to put our suitcases in a walk-in closet area. Hope to head back some time the next time we need to unplug and relax!

Beautiful cozy cottage right on Tomales Bay. Great for couples.

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is a beautiful one-bedroom with full kitchen right on Tomales Bay. You can walk outside in the morning and watch egrets hunting from a bench on the property. The cottage is well equipped, comfortable, and fantastically located close to the Point Reyes National Seashore. It is also about ten minutes from Point Reyes Station, a lovely town with great restaurants and amenities for visitors. The cottage is a great place for a romantic getaway with your partner. The cottage was clean and ready for us upon our arrival. Our host was just what we wanted-invisible; but she was readily available in case of problems.

Cycles of Nature

  • 5 of 5

My wife brought books to read. I had in mind to perform some personal rituals. None of it happened because all we could do was sit and marvel at the beauty of nature around us. The tide coming in and out. The fog rolling in and out. The change of guard between dilurnal and nocturnal wildlife. If one were to claim a negative, it would be that the property is up against the highway, and thus you can hear (though not see) the passing traffic. But the beauty around you is such that you don't even care. And no one is around. You have to try hard to see the nearest houses. All this and a cozy, clean and charming cottage. We'll definitely be back!

Owner's Response: Thank you Mark! I'm glad you and your wife had such a good time at my cottage. I feel the same way about being there and having the opportunity to watch the wildlife and changing light and vistas. Just to clarify about the road - the cottage is set back almost 30 yards from the highway which is just the 2-lane road that winds out through the national seashore. To block noise, I have a retaining wall, 6-foot fence and lots of bushes and trees to block sound. Plus the main view windows are on the opposite side, facing the bay. Thanks again and I hope you can return soon!

The Point Reyes/Inverness area has much to offer visitors. Besides beautiful hiking trails, The Point Reyes National Seashore, the Giacomini Wetlands Restoration Project and the Tomales Bay State Park, there are some wonderful shops and restaurants in the area. West Marin is full of people who appreciate growing and serving fresh vegetables and excellent organic food, so the restaurants and food shops offer a wide range of interesting, local cuisine, cheese, and wines. Additionally we are blessed with a wonderful bookstore and many unique gift shops and galleries.
