Hear the sounds of the ocean, watch beautiful sunsets, and wake to the birds singing! The cottage is a minute to the beach, located on the tranquil, secluded south side of the island. Steps to the beach and the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge.
The rental consists of a one bedroom upper suite with large deck complete with picnic table. The living space is flooded with light from skylights and large windows. There is a king-size luxury bed, full bath and kitchen. It includes cable television and wireless internet service.
There is also a full one bedroom apartment downstairs that may also be rented at the same time with previous arrangement perhaps for use of friends or relatives. If interested, please inquire.
Plum Island is accessed by one road running from Newburyport to the north of the island on a causeway and drawbridge over the Plum Island River.
Spend your vacation simply relaxing on the beach or stay active with fishing, whale watching, kayaking, sunbathing, sightseeing and shopping not only in Massachusetts but New Hampshire and Maine are only twenty minutes away. Boston is less than one hour away by car but there is also a bus direct to Logan airport or take the train direct to South Station.
Comfortable and well kept cottage right on the beach. Perfect for a quick beach getaway. We would have loved to stay longer!! Paula was awesome to work with and I know we will be back.
This place was perfect for us this past weekend. We needed someplace to stay that was affordable and also allowed our mini aussie :) The house was very clean, was accurately displayed in the pictures on the listing and was the perfect amount of space for us. The owner was great to communicate with before we arrived as well- she sent us multiple ideas of places to check out which we did ( Newburyport, TenderCrop)and had a great time! Plum Island is beautiful in October and was the perfect getaway for us!
I look for three things when I rent a place on Plum Island, close proximity to Parker River Refuge (we adore it), an outside space and lastly and most importantly, close access to the beach. This place is ideal, the beach access is very close, the refuge is minutes away and the outside space is lovely!
The space is very roomy, plenty of space for 2 people, the seating is comfortable in the living room, and the decor is charming.
The outside deck is amazing, truly the brightest spot in this cottage. (although everything is wonderful), It is actually the upper floor to a small home nestled off the road (but so close to the beach you can hear the waves breaking). The owner lives below, although when she is home you wouldn't know it. The unit includes this deck which is covered with wisteria - giving privacy, shade and lovely scent wafting through.
I have rented MANY places on Plum Island over the last 5 years, but have yet to repeat a place, this one will be the first, my intention is to return next year! I have already asked about reservations.
You won't be disappointed with this charming, homey, comfortable place.
We had a lovely time staying here. It is just across the road from an excellent beach, where we went every morning and every afternoon and could conveniently come back to the house for lunch or to rest. (Though there's no official ocean view claimed for the house, you actually can see a small patch of it from the bedroom window -- enough to make us smile -- and you can certainly hear its soothing sound as you drift off to sleep.) It is also only a couple hundred yards from the entrance to a wildlife preserve with miles of beaches and more miles of boardwalks through the salt marshes.
The flat for rent is the second story of a small house, and the second floor entrance has a spacious deck with a pergola covered with wonderful old leafy vines. The interior has a kind of quiet artistic elegance, evocative of Provence. The space is great for two people, with a large living/dining space, a comfortable bedroom with a kingsize bed, and a well stocked kitchen (incl, when we were there, a full set of Cuisinart stainless steel pots and pans). The owner was very pleasant to interact with and quick to respond to any questions. It is certainly a place I would be very happy to return to, and recommend it without reservations for a couple wanting a quiet, restorative, romantic vacation, a few steps away from the ocean.
My husband and I were thrilled with this little piece of paradise! The apartment is upstairs and has it's own deck and picnic table, surrounded with vines and flowers. The flowers were in bloom and smelled heavenly. We enjoyed the large dining/living room as well as the fully stocked kitchen where we were able to cook some meals. Even use of a washer and dryer which was perfect to do laundry before going home. I am VERY picky about cleanliness but this place was spotless! The bedroom provided a nice, comfortable bed and a closet. On the downside, there isn't a view of the ocean from the apartment, but we didn't care as it was just literally a minute walk to get there. And the beach is just gorgeous! I loved the little fence leading down to the ocean...the view is just breathtaking and was exactly what I was looking for. The owner is just a lovely lady who was very helpful. She left brochures on the table of different things to do in the area....go Whale Watching and check out Bob Lobster Restaurant....and two beach chairs to use, which was nice as we hadn't thought of that! We spent most of our time in Newburyport, even though we had planned to go to Boston (never did get there.) Lots of different shops, again- whale watching, and many different kinds of restaurants. Overall, it was the best vacation we'd ever taken and look forward to going back.
