About The Owner

Welcome to Northern Idaho! The Eagle's Nest was formally owned by my parents and was their retirement home for over ten years. You will find a meditation bench on the Kootenai Rim in the backyard of the Eagle’s Nest and this is where they sat together and decide that this was indeed the best location to build their retirement home. Come and enjoy peace and beauty nestled atop the rim of the Kootenai River.

The Owner purchased this house in 2006

Why The Owner chose Moyie Springs

SOARING STAY AT THE EAGLE'S NEST

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have found a better place to spend the end of our anniversary vacation than The Eagle's Nest. This wonderful house was as advertised and more! The Eagle's Nest is located in a quiet neighborhood, is very well-maintained and spotless throughout, and is just as beautiful as its stunning location. Full meals are easy to prepare in this well-stocked gourmet kitchen - Anne has provided all of the necessities with extras. All one needs are items to prepare (from the nearby markets in Bonners Ferry or Moyie Springs) and an appetite! The home is all on one level, enhancing a more carefree stay. The view over the Kootenay River valley and surrounding Purcell and Selkirk Mountains is unmatched at The Eagle's Nest, with an "aah" moment at every window! We enjoyed evenings on the spacious deck, watching the sun set. The sight and sound of trains passing along the tracks across the valley below were soothing as well as interesting to watch. There are several bird feeders we enjoyed filling and watching "the feathered locals" come for a treat (yes, the birds' favorite sunflower seeds are provided!). Board games, books, satellite tv, and a very good satellite internet service link provide plenty of entertainment sources when the outdoors calls one inside. Although we didn't need it, a wood-burning stove was stocked and ready to use for cold nights, with plenty of split wood on-hand. The Eagle's Nest and Moyie Springs is less than an hour from the busy, artsy town of Sandpoint or the Canada border. Daytrips to enjoy the Idaho Panhandle's natural wonders were very easy to do, as there is something to explore in every direction from The Eagle's Nest. Anne has provided everything at this "home away from home" , and property manager Dennis does an excellent job ensuring one's comfort here and that The Eagle's Nest remains "top flight". Thank you, Dennis! and thank you, Anne, for sharing this awesome property with the rest of us, we plan to be added to your long list of Eagle's Nest returnees!

Eagle's Nest stay

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at Eagle's nest very much. The house has a very large, open living room with adjacent dining room and kitchen. The deck looks out on a nice view of the Kootenai River several hundred feet below and mountains to the south. The kitchen was well supplied with most cooking necessities and a good selection of spices. It is a fairly short distance to mountain hiking trails as well as two wildlife refuges -- Kootenai NWR and Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area just across the Canadian border. Overall it was a great location and very nice place to stay.

There are several negatives, which were relatively minor to us, but should be noted. First, the interior lighting is difficult to figure out. We could not determine what switches worked what lights in some cases, and some lights were apparently burnt out (especially some of the undercounter lighting), or we never figured out what switch worked those lights. In winter, there would probably not be good lighting for reading in the living room. Secondly, the outside grill is old and rusting inside, although still functional, but the distribution of heat is a bit irregular. The third potential negative is that there are two main railway lines, one at the base of the hill below the house and the other across the river, with trains going through (with some whistle crossings) during the day and night. They are far enough away that we didn't mind them and, in fact, we tend to like the sound. But for some people, that may be bothersome.

That said, we would definitely consider staying at the Eagle's Nest again if we have reason to be in that area.

Looking for peace, beauty and tranquillity, look no further!

  • 5 of 5

What an amazing home! The view from the back deck was stunning. What a great home to relax and take in all that Northern Idaho has to offer. The house is comfortable and flooded with natural light. The owner was responsive and ensured that the stay was comfortable.

Watch deer walk through the yard while you drink morning coffee or sit back and enjoy a beer while looking out over the valley. Highly recommended!

Wonderful stay once again!

  • 5 of 5

This was our third year enjoying The Eagle's Nest. Annie's kitchen is SO, incredibly well-equipped. I was looking for a basting brush, thought how silly to look for "something like that"...WELL, there is was in a drawer. THAT is how well-equipped the kitchen has been. We were disappointed there was no rain (we are from So. California...😞) but the clouds didn't disappoint! The weather was perfect, the views incredible and peacefulness surrounded us. Dennis was superb once again. Annie, you have a little bit of heaven at The Eagle's Nest. WE WILL BE BACK!
