My wife, who was raised in Elmira, and I, raised in Manhattan, where we lived until 2005, moved to Elmira and purchased this beautiful Victoria home, because it satisfied our wish to be near the Town yet be in the Country, as it is nestled next to a 250 acre Floodplain 'Park' along the spectacular Chemung River, three blocks walk from the house.
Richard purchased this apartment in 2006

Richard and Gail are wonderful hosts! The apartment is spacious and well-appointed. The kitchen is extremely well-equipped. The neighborhood is just beautiful. Everything you need is within a very short drive. I look forward to many visits to Elmira, and this is my first choice for a place to stay!
I'm from Elmira but haven't been back since I was a child. My wife and I decided to make the trip from our home here in Oregon to return to my roots. We are long time believers in VRBO so we decided to see what we could find in Elmira.
Well, we found it. Within two days we were calling this property home after a day of exploring the beauty and history of Elmira and the surounding area. The house is cozy and warm and reminded us of homes we had lived in in the past. It is centrally located to explore the rich history of Elmira and the Finger Lakes of upstate New York. From the radiator heat to the updated bathroom to the rich beauty of a remodeled Victorian home, everything was awesome. The owners, Richard and Gail were gracious and helpful, and their extensive knowledge of Elmira and the surrounding area made our visit even that more exciting. I highly recommend this property.
I just stayed for nearly a week at this wonderful spot. The location is ideal for everything Elmira has to offer. The house is super close to town and the college, and most ideally backs up to the Chemung river with miles of walkways and open property to enjoy as your own. The space is surprisingly large and fully modern kitchen, bath with a great office setup and fully appointed desk in the living room. A super comfortable large King bed made for a completely relaxing and enjoyable home base while I was in town. Richard and Gail are gracious hosts and offer great advice for where to eat, and what to see in Elmira. I will be back often for each and every visit to the college. Far superior to any hotel offering in town.
We were in Elmira for a week visiting family and attending a 50th highschool reunion. Having grown up in Elmira not far from here, this beautiful old house felt like being home again! Everything about the place was great! More than we could have hoped for! Room to entertain guests and even prepare meals and snacks! Beautiful walk along the river! Next time we visit , we will definitely stay here again!
My husband and I stayed in this lovely apartment when in town for the Wineglass Marathon. It was fully furnished and felt like our home away from home. While private and quiet on a beautiful street, we were minutes from downtown Elmira. We hope to return next year for a longer visit and will again stay in this wonderful apartment.
My 92-year mom, sister and I flew to Elmira from Oregon to visit my daughter who attends Elmira College and also to do some sightseeing in NY state. We loved staying in this very spacious home. It was so much better than a hotel and we felt a part of the community. Our favorite thing was sitting on the huge porch at night, talking and making wonderful memories. Everything we wanted was close by. It was lovely meeting Gail. Highly recommended.
