This was a great cottage on the lake. Our son had a hockey camp nearby and we made a family trip out of it. The house was totally decked out for kids. Couldn’t have been happier.

A Fun Getaway

Ritter Ranch is a fun, family friendly getaway. We enjoyed plenty of sunshine: fishing, swimming, playing outdoor games, and making s'mores. The place was the perfect size for our family, clean, and well organized! Can't wait to return next year!

Absolutely Perfect!

We enjoyed our stay so much! The home was perfect and offered something for everyone in our group! The teenagers enjoyed the game room and the yard was perfect for games and a fire in the evening. The interior was spotless and well appointed. Plenty of dishes in the kitchen and really comfortable beds! Thank you so much for having us!

Jeff was extremely helpful from the time we booked until we checked out. Very personable and responsive. The cabin was extremely clean, I was super impressed by how clean it was. They had everything we needed and then some! Great location also. Highly recommend!!!

Perfect for the whole family

This is a beautiful home with lots to keep all ages entertained. Everyone loved the kayaks, the row boat & the quiet mornings. The game room was fantastic! We came home feeling blessed & relaxed & the kids are already talking about our next visit :-)

Our family had an amazing time at Ritter ranch! It was equipped with all the amenities, clean and just a beautiful piece of property. The owners communicated with us about everything and even left s’mores for us to enjoy by the fire! We hope to book next summer and for years to come!

Fantastic place!

We had a 4 night stay at the Ritter Ranch and I could not be more pleased! The property was perfect, the cabin stocked with all the essential necessities, and very kid friendly! VERY CLEAN!!! Jeff was very open with communication, and made sure to check in to see if we needed anything or had questions! 10/10 would recommend!

Great family getaway

Awesome property. Our family had a great time from relaxing on the dock, sunbathing on the peaceful sandy beach, fishing off the dock, s’mores at night, game room movies and games at night, local recommendations for jet skis to fun bike rides on the local back roads. A great time was had by all. Thank you Ritter Ranch it was truly a relaxing time. You are a great host that truly thought of everything 💗

Top stay! Everything about our stay was above and beyond our expectations. Beautiful place,comfortable beds and so much fun. We didn’t have to go anywhere. Lots to do, plenty of space and hours of entertainment with all the games. Every accommodations were met plus much more. I highly recommend this place. The owners are very friendly and kind.

Incredible Stay

My family stayed at Ritter Ranch the week after the 4th and had an absolutely perfect stay. The home is so clean and has everything you could want. The beds are very comfortable, towels are nice and plentiful. I had to do some work during our stay and appreciated the desk area. Our teenagers enjoyed the kayaks every day, and the garage/game area was a great hangout space. The property is so well maintained and is stunning, with several options for relaxing and gathering. The lakes are also great for tubing or fishing. Finally, Jeff was great to work with. We so appreciate the opportunity to stay at this perfect VRBO.

Amazing Family Vacation Home!

This property is an amazing vacation Home! The yard and beach are perfect for anyone. We had young children with us and it worked great. We used the kayaks, beach and playhouse everyday! The kids enjoyed fishing off the dock as well. The home is well equipped. You just need to bring food and clothes. The bedrooms are very nice and comfy. The home is in a canal area close to the big lake of nisswa. Easy to get to. We are so happy we found this gem! The Hinsz and Hauck families. ND

Wonderful family getaway!

We had a great week at The Ritter Ranch. Jeff was great to communicate with and quick to respond to any questions we had. Our kids loved the beachy area and the lily pad was a huge hit. The channel that the cabin is located on is quiet with little to no boat traffic, and no close neighbors. We rented a pontoon for the week and spent hours cruising all the connected lakes. The cabin is close to downtown Nisswa, a grocery store, and a close enough drive to enjoy attractions in Brainerd. The garage rec room was AMAZING and such a nice place to unwind. The arcade game got hours of use. Overall a fantastic week!!!

Summer 2022 @ Ritter Ranch

The property was great and just as the pictures showed. The house was very clean and comfy and cozy, it felt like home. Everything we needed was available for spending a week. The game room was a lot of fun with games, pool, darts, arcade and a great space to hang out together. The outside was amazing with the sandy beach, dock, kayaks, lily pad water mat. The outdoor seating was amazing from the chairs on the beach to the yard and the deck and dock. All with great views to sit and relax and enjoy the scenery. Room to play catch or enjoy a fire. Fishing from the dock. We loved it all! Can't wait for our next vacation back at Ritter Ranch!

Up North Getaway

We loved our stay at Ritter Ranch! The cabin is exactly as pictured, brand new and clean. Very comfy beds and linens made for a comfortable stay. Our group of two families with four kids ages 4-8 had a blast. We enjoyed the kayaks and lily pads, fishing on the dock, playing on the little beach, nightly s’mores, the playhouse for the kids and more. The property and landscaping are gorgeous with lots of space to play and relax. We enjoyed spectacular views of the moon rising each night on the patio. And bonus, Apple TV so the kids could watch Netflix. We also appreciated having access to the garage and an extra fridge. The owners were extremely responsive to any questions during our planning process and while we were there. We’d highly recommend Ritter Ranch to anyone!

Family Vacation 2023

Property was perfect for our family. Coffee in the morning was awesome as location was very secluded but just a short pontoon ride to Lake Nisswa thru a channel. The beach, lily pad, fishing off the dock, kayaking, and the playhouse were big hits with grandkids. The house was very clean, updated, and beds were great. The kitchen had all we needed and the out door dining was perfect with a great view of the lake. The back yard was perfect and fire pit was great. The recreation room in the garage was great to watch a movie or play a game of pool or darts. The Ritter’s have thought about everything like buckets by the doors to wash off sandy feet, sand toys for the beach, and many board games! A big Thank You to our hosts and thanks for the S’mores!!

Our Time at Ritter Ranch!

Our family of six stayed at Ritter Ranch and we cannot say enough good things about the property. The location of the cabin is great. Getting to Gull Lake by boat was a breeze and we were a close drive to everything i.e., golf courses, grocery stores, restaurants, etc. The cabin itself is beautiful, roomy and very comfortable. It was extremely clean and stocked with the major necessities, which we very much appreciated. If we had a request, it would only be to have another couch in the living room, as people wanted to lounge when it was raining. The property is very well kept with lots of outdoor seating, a bonfire pit and has a great yard for summer games. The beach is a super nice extra feature, and the game room was also a lot of fun. Jeff was WONDERFUL to work with and responded so quickly to any questions we had. We had a fabulous vacation and have already booked again for next year!! If you are looking for a great place to relax, unwind and spend time together with loved ones, this is the place to be.

Family Fun in Nisswa

Ritter Ranch was overall the best vacation rental we've stayed at in the last 10 years. We've established a family tradition of having a summer week together with our 2 daughters and their families. From age 2 to 62, there's something for everyone here. Nisswa is a great little town with biking/walking trails, parks/playgrounds, Go-Karts, fishing, kayaking, swimming, shopping ... The Ritters meticulously maintain their lakefront cabin. It is clear they put in lots of hard work and take great pride in their property. There is a fun game room, kids playhouse, and cute little beach equipped with comfy chairs, umbrellas, lilypad, and nice sand. There are 2 outside dining areas set in the beautifully landscaped yard. The kitchen was wonderful to cook family meals. The bedrooms were comfy and peaceful. We will not hesitate to stay here again if our travels bring us to the Nisswa northwoods.

Everything you need & want and more

Home and yard are immaculate! An abundance of activities for kids, tweens, teens, and adults. Being on the channel provides a quiet and private feel, with very easy access to the open lake. We enjoyed the unobstructed view of the lake every morning from the patio. Plenty of dining space inside and out. The beds are VERY comfortable! Everything in the home is updated and nice…we appreciated that the Ritters had plenty of towels, TP, paper towels, etc. Bring own cooking needs (spices, oil, sugar, etc). Excellent location! Lots of space to be together or separate if you want different activities (video games/movies vs. reading/resting). Great fishing, boating, skiing, walking, shopping, food and drink with very easy access by boat, kayak, foot or car. We want to come back with family friends next time as we could comfortably fit two other families. Jeff was very responsive and kind. Went above and beyond to answer our questions and accommodate our needs. We are thankful that the Ritters are willing to share their fabulous place!!!

Perfect getaway!

The Ritter Ranch was spectacular. Four of us spent the weekend in the lakes area snowmobiling and had an amazing time. The house was easy to find based on directions(even in the dark). The place was very clean and had a nice cozy vibe. All bedrooms upstairs and entertainment was downstairs, a very nice separation. Direct access to the lake which made it easy for us to find the snowmobile trails. The heated garage was also nice for all of our winter gear. WiFi and television were perfect, never had any hiccups with this. The upstairs rooms were very clean and fairly large which was a plus. We had separate bathrooms making it easy for all to get ready. Jeff was always available via call or text if anything came up. Extremely nice and professional. I’ve spent many weekends in various houses around the area over the years and I’d rank this one at the top. Size-able house, great service, and the location was perfect. I’d recommend anybody to the Ritter Ranch. For those that don’t know the area, they’ve put together a very detailed book of activities, restaurants, and other fun things around the area with a descriptive reason why they like those places... very helpful We’ll be back!

Magnificent lake home on Nisswa

We absolutely loved our trip to Ritter Ranch. We came with another family with 5th and 8th grade boys in addition to us and our two preschool aged girls. We were worried that the gap between the kids was going to be tough but there was something for EVERYONE here! A playhouse and all the beach toys for the younger kids and an arcade machine for the older kids - also counting the dads in the older kid range :) We also had a bonfire (with s’mores as a welcome gift!), used kayaks, the guys golfed (both regular at Grandview and mini at Prates Cove in Baxter), and utilized the rec room to watch the Gopher football season opener in style! We rented a pontoon for the week and easily parked it at the end of the dock and loved our nightly boat cruises as well as our longer day trips to the sandbar where the littles could swim and of course Zorbaz. The house itself was immaculate. It was as if they deep cleaned it immediately before we got there. And don’t get me started on how nice it was for the kids and parents alike to put your toes in the sand and relax looking out at the channel. Overall this was an unbelievable week, the Ritters are the ultimate hosts, and if you are on the fence I suggest you move on this place now because you won’t find better.

Perfect Cabin

Extremely nice cabin that had everything you needed. The owners truly thought of every little thing you might need to enjoy your stay. Highly recommended!

Spacious, peaceful and accommodating!

We have had been coming to the Nisswa area to the same resort for the past 10 years. When that resort was sold and converted into private cottages, we began looking for a new home. We are very pleased to say that, after two years of searching, we found our new home at The Ritter Ranch! The Ritter Ranch exceeded all of our expectations, and then some. The attention to detail, down to our welcoming gift, was superb. The awesome Rec Room was an unexpected surprise. If you are looking for a peaceful place where you can enjoy the lake, beautiful views, relaxing campfires and so much more, we recommend The Ritter Ranch. We are already planning our next trip.

cabin trip

Jeff and Daina did a lovely job getting the place ready for us. It was emaculate. No cobwebs or critters in the cabin. Lots of space out back to sit and enjoy the view of the lake/channel. Lots of fun activities for the kids: game room, playhouse, beach area with sand toys, firepit. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. It is very quiet and private. Hope we can return someday.

Awesome lake home

A great location on the lake with a very nicely setup home. The game room was especially helpful for us as we ran into a patch of cold/wet weather days. We'll definitely be looking to return.

We love the fact that you have chosen to be our guest at the Ritter Ranch and yes, we know its not a ranch with Animals. ​
We have been making memories with our family's up north since we were both kids and want to keep making those – so we bought a CABIN! ​
Brandon and Logan really enjoy running around the huge yard, biking on the trails, the Chocolate OX, boating on the lake, eating outside.​
Daina loves getting away from it all and Jeff enjoys the lake and playing with the boys. ​

Quite street with full access to the gull lake chain. We are the second home on the channel that connects and you get a full lake view. Sandy beach with dock to park your boat. Very little wind with an acer to play.

We take great pride in a clean home with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms. Large kitchen and living room on the main level.

2 miles from Grand View, Nissawa, shopping, golf, boating all at your fingertips. Very quite street with tons of room to play.
