About Owner
Hi. I am Mark, a primary care physician. While a student at the University of New England in nearby Biddeford Pool, I lived at the Grand Victorian. As a busy medical student, I definitely appreciated the serenity and community the Grand Victorian offered. When it seemed like I couldn't take another 18 hour day, one look out at the crashing waves would send my worries a sail. Living at the beach is a dream come true. Everything I needed was right there. It was so convenient, I could walk everywhere, to the grocery store, cafe, restaurant. Everyone at the Grand Victorian is wonderful. Though I was far away from home, I was adopted by several other owners. 'Sunday Seafood Suppas' with my new 'family,' highlighted my week. As for activities, I will never tire of walking that beautiful 7 mile beach, nor will I ever get bored of kayaking in the tranquil waterways of surrounding Scarborough, Ocean Park, and Camp Ellis.

Why Owner chose Old Orchard Beach
The Grand Victorian and Old Orchard Beach has it all. While most of the vacation properties in Maine are seasonal, people enjoy Old Orchard Beach year round. It is the 3rd largest tourist attraction in greater New England. Everyone, from as far away as the Mid-Atlantic, Montreal and Quebec, have looked forward to returning to Old Orchard for their family summer vacations for decades. Being from the Washington DC area, I never dreamed I would get to live in such an aesthetically pleasing place. I loved the idea of the diverse community OOB had to offer. The French speaking Canadians love their long walks, kids love Palace Playland, and their parents love being able to have a glass of wine on the deck while being able to look down and see their kids safely playing on the beach.
What makes this Condo unique
Being busy, the Old Orchard and the Grand Victorian offered my everything. I could study down at the pool for days on end, while looking out on beautiful ocean. I enjoy working out in the fitness center or going for a long walk with my puppy on the beach, kayaking excursion in the ocean, or even cross country ski trip on the beach. Once my workout is done, I can grab a quick shower, relax in the sauna, or jump in the pool. Its so easy to relax at the Grand Victorian. It feels like I am always on Vacation. Falling asleep to the crashing waves and waking up as the wonderful sunrise peaks through your bedroom window is awesome!!

Great location!
Ideal for families! Very well kept. Huge fully equipped kitchen. Steps away from so many activities.
Great location
Well kept condo. Great location for families. Loved waking up to the ocean and ending the day at the arcade was the kids favorite!
Great time, fantastic location.
Property was everything we expected and more. Lots of room and a great kitchen so we didn't have to spend a lot on dinners. Hannaford grocery store is only 20 minutes away. Beach is awesome and water wasn't cold as I thought it would be. I highly recommend vacationing here.

Fantastic place to have fun
Just a word to say that we really appreciated our weekend at your condo in Old Orchard. The apartment is very comfortable and “user friendly”.
The weather was very nice, our grandchildren (4 & 6) really enjoyed playing on the beach and discovering the “arcades” which were on their “opening weekend.”
We will keep your contact information in the hope of visiting again and will not hesitate to recommend your place to our friends.
All the best & regards,
Great vacation in the heart of the action
My extended family had a terrific time here - 3 sisters plus husbands or friends and 1 kid. The condo was spacious, the two bathrooms key. The open kitchen, dining and living area was great for hanging out, playing games etc at night after coming back from dinner and strolling the area. We didn't watch much TV but noted there was Apple TV as well as cable. Many good places for dinner within walking distance; favorites for fine dining were The Landmark and Joseph's by the Sea. Plenty of more casual and cheaper spots all around; just walk outside and pick one. My 3 year old LOVED the amusement park next door and insists we return next year for more fun. Being able to walk outside the Grand Vic right to the beach was key; no waiting for everyone to be ready or worrying if some wanted to linger or go back in the afternoon for a rest. Surf Six restaurant/bar right there was convenient and fun for drinks, lunch etc out on the patio or inside when you need some shade. They are also also totally fine with you going in to use the bathroom which is nice, save you the trip upstairs! Coffee bar downstairs if you forgot to bring some for the coffee maker there.
Small quibbles: the showers are both open so not much privacy there - in the master bedroom the shower is a glass box in the actual bedroom so unless the others in the room are your intimates, you'll want to lock the bedroom door. :) The other one is a big open tiled shower (great for hosing down a couple of kids at a time). There is no tub.
The beds were all pretty "firm" but not terrible. I think they were all platform-type beds so no box springs. The pullout couch was comfy and there is bedding for all of them. Towels are there too, along with many items like dish soap and counter spray...no laundry soap or kitchen basics though. You have to clean up a bit before leaving; strip the beds, toss the towels in the washer, remove any food in the kitchen...nothing crazy. (Btw: a grocery store is walking distance away, a Shop & Save at the base of Cascade Rd.)
The staff there are great; so helpful in moving cars, taking trash for us etc. I really recommend the building and this unit as well. I got a little nervous toward the end of the summer when we didn't hear back from the owner on our various little questions, but all were answered by the building staff. I think I just didn't realize it was a full service building so could have been directing my questions to them instead of the unit owner.
Fun On The Boardwalk
If you want to stay in the middle of all that Old Orchard Beach has to offer - this is the place to be! We adored being able to hear the trains go by - the sound of the ocean and the seagulls and the crowds enjoying the amusement park rides in the evening. But when it was time to go to sleep we closed the doors and windows and enjoyed the central air for a sleepful night. Check in is at 3pm and check out is promptly at 10am. You'll find an open living space with a kitchen/living room/dining room combo - three bedrooms, two bathrooms and two extremely cool showers. TV's are in ever room but we loved the kitchen MOST of all! Very spacious with tons of countertops, an electric stove, micro and an icemaker/water dispenser in the beautiful fridge. If you want to wake up in the AM and sit on the balcony to the sound of the ocean and a great cup of coffee, book this unit right here right now. We were on the top floor of this luxury condo and enjoyed all the extras the Grand Vic had including a gym and a pool and an amazing parking spot. We walked to the beach, the pier and all around town - knowing that a trip "home" was a few minutes away because we were in the center of town.
One last thing - we found plenty of restaurants in Old Orchard Beach - looking for a good spot - visit JJ's right next to the train tracks, surf six with the best view and right next door to the condo - the best oysters were at hurricanes on the pier. Yummo! Down the street is Hoss and Mary's and they are doing a killer business with interesting sandwiches and burgers! Outside of OOB we went to Saco and The Run of the Mill (best ribs ever!) also Luis's Arepas are not to be missed especially if you are gluten free like me. We were told to go to Jumping Jacks for oysters in Old Orchard but never made it there. :( Camp Ellis has the BEST kayak rental ever - have "Weedy" take you up the Saco river and drop your kayaks for an easy paddle with the tide back to Bare Knee Point Rentals. This was a great location - minutes from Portland to the north and Kennebunkport to the south. Also don't miss the Maine Foodie Tour in Kennebunkport or in Portland. A great fun time.
As you can tell we had a great time, this condo was centrally located, and not one single complaint from this family of three. We've rented many homes on vrbo and Marc this was one of the nicest places we have ever been. Thanks Marc for the use of your home!
