About Tom Watkins

I am working for an NGO that requires I spend time in Geneva, so am often out of New York.

Tom Watkins purchased this apartment in 1982

Why Tom Watkins chose Midtown South

Because it is in a great location from which the city's attractions are easily accessible -- steps off FifthAvenue between Flatiron, just to the south; Murray Hill, a block to the east; and Midtown, whose southern tip begins four blocks to the north. It's in the center of the Persian rug district, two blocks south of Korea Town and four blocks north of Madison Square Park.

What makes this apartment unique

A clean, quiet, calm, orderly and safe place of refuge that is within walking distance of many of New York's attractions.

Map

Walk to the lights of Times Square, the clubs of Greenwich Village, the restaurants of the Flatiron District, the galleries of Chelsea. Doubtless the best location you could find to have access to all that New York has to offer.

Clean and good location

The apartment was clean and in a very convenient location. I also appreciated the quick response of the owner when I asked to check out late. Very kind owner and a great space. I would definitely recommend this place to friends.

This apartment is a great little secret. It is in an awesome area near everything and reasonably priced. We had one little snafu and the owner, Tom, took care of it immediately. The apartment is clean and well equipped. I will stay here again!!!!!

Great cozy apartment in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

Great place to stay at a great location. Upon booking, we received detailed instructions that included tips about the apartment as well as identifying local restaurants and shops. The apartment was exactly as described. Very clean & cozy. Plenty of clean towels, sheets, The bed was comfortable. Even the air mattress was comfortable and very easy to use. Reminder, with no elevator and 4 flights of stairs I recommend that you pack lightly.

Location was perfect for walking to many sites & for longer trips the subway stops were just a few blocks away. We were out sight seeing most of the day and felt safe coming “home” at night. Yes - just a 3 day stay but it felt like home.

We recommend Tom’s place and will stay (if available) the net time I come to NYC.

Thanks Tom for make you place available.

Living like a New Yorker

  • 4 of 5

Nice studio in older building, conveniently located. Clean and well-stocked, although I would not attempt major cooking in the tiny kitchen. Owner helpful and friendly. Steep 4th floor walkup with narrow staircase not suitable for mobility impaired and a struggle with heavy luggage. Street noise can be problematic, particularly at the moment with major construction right next door.

Owner's Response: All true, though worth noting that the construction workers call it quits during the afternoon.

Lovely home in the big city

  • 4 of 5

Tom was very helpful before our arrival with a good detailed email that made our arrival very smooth and he responded to our questions very quickly. The apartment is clean and spacious. The bed is extremely comfortable. I really appreciated having a kitchen for morning tea and fruit. One negative thing was it was quite noisy in the morning with construction workers and traffic but its also NYC and that comes with the territory and Sunday morning was quiet. Couldn't beat the location. We barely needed to use the subway because we were so central and it was so easy to walk to everything we wanted to see and do. Will definitely look Tom up again for future trips to the big apple.
