Idiot's Hill Guest House

Our guest house is in the heart of Denton, a block east of the Bell Avenue Historic District, with all the amenities to make your time in Denton relaxing and meaningful. This private, smoke and pet free retreat offers natural light and your own designated parking spot. Stay within two miles of UNT, TWU and the unique Denton Square. You will enjoy unique features that will make you feel at home including a stocked kitchen and a record player with music from local Denton bands.

The Idiot's Hill Guest House is surrounded by established trees and lots of natural light. The kitchen is well supplied for your time in Denton with an oven/stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, coffee pot, washer/drier and kitchen utensils. We have fast wifi and a Roku for netflix, hulu or any subscriptions you have.

When its time for bed you will enjoy our queen size bed with 400 thread count sheets, as well as a brand new pull out sleeper sofa with upgraded foam mattress.

Denton is famous for many gifted musicians who have come through their nationally acclaimed Jazz program, and you can listen to some selected albums on our record player.

We look forward to providing you with a list of some of our favorite local restaurants and establishments.

You will have full access to the private and detached guest house. You have your own driveway which leads down a lighted path on the side of the house leading to the guest house. You will be sent the code for the lock prior to your arrival. You will have private access to all aspects of the guest house including the Living Room, Bedroom, Full Bathroom, Dining Area, Kitchen, as well as a laundry area complete with a washer and dryer. As we live in the main house in front with our children, you will not have access to the backyard.

Just right

This property was just right for me & my husband who visit Denton each July to see friends. Great location. Cute house. And as Goldie Locks would say, "Just right." We'll be back!

Will stay again

Overall my stay was excellent. There were a couple of things I’d suggest for future - the ice maker didn’t work and the shower was a little mildewed (I know how it is in the south!). These weren’t anything to complain about and I plan to use if available for future trips. Just thought I’d mention it in case they can be taken care of. I will be recommending to my sister and my brother-in-law for when they visit their son in Denton. Was a very restful place to stay and the owners were great!

Second visit to this peaceful place

I needed a place to stay between two events and this was a perfect retreat! It was quiet and I got to work on a project in peace. I could have walked to several places for groceries or food. It also worked great for when my son joined me the second night- be aware that the bathroom is in the bedroom if that is an issue for you. Thanks again for my quiet getaway!

University-area Haven

Perfect for 1 or 2 couples needing to stay close to the University or access some of the Denton area attractions and events. The neighborhood is nice and quiet and the Hosts are polite and friendly. Highly recommend!

The property was perfect for our 2-night stay. The bathroom connected to the bedroom worked just fine for our group. The pull-out couch could sleep two people, but we also brought an air mattress for additional sleeping space, which worked great! The place was beautifully decorated and thoughtfully stocked with games, complimentary snacks, and a record player—a unique and fun touch.We gave cleanliness 4 stars due to the sink draining slowly during extended use, such as face washing, and the shower grout needing a deeper scrubbing. However, the rest of the space was spotless, with no dust in sight. The hosts were welcoming and accommodating. We would happily stay here again if in the area!

Great stay!

We had a wonderful stay! The area was nice and super convenient, making it easy to explore and get around. The rental comfortably slept three of us, thanks to the pull-out couch bed, which was a great feature. The only reason I didn’t give cleanliness a full five stars is due to some dust on the ceiling fan and blinds, but otherwise, everything was in great shape. One standout was the thoughtful welcome packet with food recommendations—we tried a few spots, and they were fantastic! Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!

Read and ask questions before booking

I read a review from other guests and I agree with them about how comfortable the little house is. It did not work for us. Unfortunately, the location of the bathroom inside the only bedroom doesn’t work for more than a couple. People sleeping in the bedroom were disturbed by the other using the bathroom. The queen bed did not work for us, noisy cracking frame. The other sleeping areas were the sleep sofa and that one had better days. Our backs, my daughter and me, suffered the consequences. Other than watching tv there is nothing else to do in the house. Guests are not allow to enjoy the backyard and the information of the house showing up hot tub misled my booking. I asked questions too late. Overall, this place is good for a couple that uses a queen bed and has a busy itinerary to spend the day out of the house and only go to sleep. Bring your own pillow and consider bringing your own air mattress if this place is your choice.

Perfect location

Wonderful place to stay with family. Quiet neighborhood, near lots of restaurants. The house was just like advertised. It was stocked with everything you need. Seeing the.chockens was a plus for the kids.

We found our thrill on Idiot's Hill

We were in Denton to attend a family graduation and to be with family who live in Denton and Grapevine. This house was perfectly located for us in all respects. It was close to family, recreation areas, beautiful downtown Denton and Grapevine and all of the venues we needed to access for the graduation. The house itself was perfection. First off, it was clean with all of the amenities necessary for our stay. The floor plan gave us the room we needed in between family visits to relax and unwind. The kitchen was well-stocked and all of the linens were fresh and plentiful. Our hosts made it so easy to access the home and all of the details for our stay were clearly spelled out. For being in an established neighborhood, it was quiet and very relaxing. I would definitely stay at Idiot's Hill (aptly named:) again for the events in the years to come. Thank you, Ron and Jenny, for being the perfect hosts.

Great place close to the heart of Denton

It was a short test to take a test at UNT. This place is walking distance to all the great places in the historical part of Denton. The place is cute and cozy. I highly recommend it.
