About Carpenter Family Trust

We have lived in the Klamath Basin since 1991. We have been actively involved in natural resource issues, construction and guide and outfitting. Most recently we finalized a 7 year project, 'Creating A Sense of Arrival' with the remodel of a Visitor Center for the City of Klamath Falls to showcase our beautiful downtown, trail system and waterfront area. This 'One Stop' location offers visitors and locals a place to get information about our area from the Chamber of Commerce and Discover Klamath. Other tenants include Klamath County Economic Development, the Hombuilders Association, Watershed Partnership and Ducks Unlimited.

We are recipients of the City of Klamath Falls 'Green Pelican Award' and US Fish & Wildlife Wetlands Conservation Award.

Carpenter Family Trust purchased this house in 1996

Why Carpenter Family Trust chose Klamath Falls

We built our home in this very special location because it is on the waterfront and centrally located.

What makes this house unique

This property is unique due to it's up close and personal all season watchable bird and wildlife, which can be viewed from the comfort of your living room or outdoors on the deck. Boating, birding and fishing are a just a few steps away.

Downtown Klamath Falls is only 5 minutes and the airport a mere 15 minutes.

If you like to hike or bike the Link River Trailhead can be seen from the living room. This Trail takes you to historic Main Street where you can enjoy lunch and visit a museum.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The view was beautiful, way better looking than my handwriting. We saw so many birds I think I should list them.

I saw a Great Egret, Double Crested Cormorant, Black Crowned Night Heron, American White Pelican, Stellars Jay, Clarks & Western Grebes, Clarks Nuthatcher, Osprey, Sparrows, Finches, Black Headed Grossbeak, Redwing Blackbird, and Morning Doves. Thanks for the warm kindness, hospitality, and information. I forgot to mention the Tree Swallows, Goldfinches, Gulls, Geese & Robins.

Labor Day Weekend Getaway

  • 4 of 5

The house was conveniently located and spacious for our getaway. The inside of the house was clean, comfortable, and well appointed, though the picture windows and patio were not clean upon our arrival. We hosed down the patio ourselves, and Stephanie had a window cleaner come out the second day. Unfortunately, the jetted tub was not working, but Stephanie offered us a partial refund for the inconvenience. We enjoyed kayaking on the lake using the equipment provided. The house also served as good base for visiting Ashland and Crater Lake during our stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. I am delighted you enjoyed your visit over the Labor Day weekend. We have a very old Willow tree on the lakeside which provides welcome shade & privacy. It tends to be messy but we love it for its beauty & longevity! We have fixed the bathtub. The buttons take a light touch. As the guests said our location affords many sightseeing opportunities for a fun & rewarding day's road trip. Be sure to get the New Klamath Basin Birding Trails Brochure at Discover Klamath at the South Portal Visitor Center in downtown Klamath Falls. This brochure provides an in depth listing of birding locations, descriptions, ease of access, etc. Highly recommended.

Very relaxing!

  • 4 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at Klamath Falls. The House stayed cool and it was so pleasant to sit and watch the birdlife! The kitchen was well stocked. We cook alot so we really appreciate a good kitchen, even a cast iron pan! We hiked nearby and enjoyed the local farmer's market. This is a great place to enjoy wildlife and be close to hiking and all the area has to offer.

Owner's Response: It is really a treat to be able to cook at the stove and watch the birds at the same time. A birdseye view for sure. There are so many wonderful things to do and see in Klamath Falls. We are proud of our Framers Market & Third Thursday events. Hiking, biking, boating & of course birding are all available. Ella Redkey pool downtown offers a great venue for swimming with nice lawn areas for family fun.

Great place!

  • 4 of 5

I loved this house. No AC but the breeze blowing in from the lake kept the house relatively cool and at night I put a fan in the window which worked fine. I keep my house between 68 - 73 degrees so I like it cool. The house was clean and comfortable. I was concerned about the comfort of the futon bed but found it was great because the owners put a feather mattress on it. I slept great. Sitting on the patio watching all the birds and other wildlife was very enjoyable. Even at night, the bats put on quite a show! I would definately stay here again.

Owner's Response: We designed the house to be passive solar and a cooling breeze comes off the lake in the afternoon. With the windows open it circulates the air in addition to the ceiling fans in the livingroom and master bedroom. We are glad you find the futon comfortable with the featherbed. We strive to keep our guests contend. The variety of birds continues to be a benefit of our incredible location at the confluence of Upper Klamath Lake & the Link River. The Link continues on as the Klamath River all the way to Requa, CA where the river meets the ocean.

Owner's Response: The beauty of our location is the ease of access to so many activities. There are many fun things to see & do within a half days distance from Crater Lake to the Lava Beds, Ashland Shakeshere Theater, Wilderness hiking, dining at Harriman Springs Resort & Lake of the Woods, Zipl Lining, boating, biking & swimming. This all as well as the fantastic birding opportunities. We are a great location for families wishing to reunite halfway between Seattle/Portland & the Bay Area as well.

Other than the dock needing some work, loved the property. The neighbor birds were entertaining and the house was perfect for our needs. Love the openness of the house but still private. Great location, close to everything we needed. The bats at night were a special treat.

Owner's Response: We always strive to improve our property & each year brings new projects. The new & expanded deck has been a great addition. Our location in the City of Klamath Falls is both private and accessible to downtown and outdoor recreation, the cinema, Linkville Theatre, dining & shopping.
