About sherri mansell

My husband and I have 4 children ages 12 to 25 and live in South Florida. We have vacationed in western NC for over 25 years where my parents have a home.

sherri mansell purchased this cabin in 2008

Why sherri mansell chose Blue Ridge Mountains

We chose this location in Black Mtn because it's a very quaint town with great restaurants and so close to the city of Asheville with an airport, university and culture events.

What makes this cabin unique

What we love best about our property is that we are located in the mountains and surrounded by nature, but only 10 minutes to the grocerty store and other amenities.

Excellent, relaxing, beautiful, clean, spacious, retreat-feel, want to come back!!!!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from staying at your beautiful Highrock Meadow cabin. It was absolutely beautiful, and we fell in love with Black Mountain and North Carolina! We would recommend your home to anyone we knew coming to this area. You all did an incredible job having it built, and it was so difficult to leave! it looks brand new.

Our weather was perfect and we were able to enjoy the property and the cabin in addition to going white water rafting on a 9 mile level 4 trip on the French Broad River; zip line in the canopies of the mountains; spend a day at the Biltmore estate and ride horses at their stables; spend a portion of the next day at Chimney Rock followed by the joy of shopping and dining in Black Mountain. We absolutely loved the Red Rocker Inn (family favorite!) and My Father's Pizza per your suggestion. We also enjoyed Que Sera in Black Mountain and Tupelo Honey Café for dinner in downtown Asheville. The book of information you provided in the cabin was so incredibly helpful.

We would come back in a heartbeat. Playing horseshoes, roasting s'mores in the firepit by the pond and hiking on the neaby trail on our final night was a highlight as well. Our children, ages 16 (female) and 11 (male), equally loved it too.

Thank you again for allowing us to be guests in your beautiful home. Great vacation!

Prichard Family Reunion

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful family reunion. What a perfect place to have it. We went to the Biltmore, White water rafting, hiking trails and enjoyed downtown Black Mountain's shops. There was so much to do at the cabin that we just stayed and enjoyed ourselves there too. Plenty to do for the kids too( they loved the campfires) The hot tub was a bonus. The cabin is beautiful and cozy at the same time. Everything you would need is there. It was awesome to just sit on the porch rockers and enjoy the view. Thanks again for sharing your home away from home. Paul and Debbie

Beautiful property!

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is gorgeous, well-cared for, and every detail has been thoughtfully addressed, from firewood for the fireplace to hairdryers and a bottle of Biltmore wine to welcome us! Mom and I went to celebrate her birthday and were in the hot tub every night. The grounds were spotless and include a beautiful little secluded pond with a firepit and hammock, as well as trails onsite. Once you get there, you don't need to leave, although there were lots of interesting regional attractions. This is a good quiet spot to take a book or your latest writing project if you need to get away from it all. Only downside for us was that it's a ways from town and we had some trouble on the access roads in a Prius, recommend 4 wheel drive.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your vacation and the beauty of the property! This home is a great mountain getaway with all the comforts of home. The roads to the home are very safe with trees on either side of the road. There is a 1.5 mile gravel road to the property that is graded on a regular basis as it does develop some bumps over time, but very safe...The drive may be a bit bumpy, but cabin/meadow paradise at the end is worth the trip! We, the owners, utilize 2 wheel drive vehicles when driving to the property and have never had any issues. Four-wheel drive is only required late December to February in case of snow/ice.

Beautiful, well-maintained cabin with thoughtful details. Perfect secluded getaway. We had some difficulty with the access roads in a Prius, recommend bringing four wheel drive.

Beautiful place, beautiful location and outstanding scenery

  • 4 of 5

We loved our stay at Highrock Meadow and the beautiful mountains of North Carolina. Our cabin was very nice and fully stocked with all the essentials. The owners have put so much thought and effort into accommodating the needs of their guests it was truly appreciated, and the bottle of wine was very nice touch. I feel so bad for the four star rating because everything was perfect and it's such a cosmetic thing, but it was a setback. Everything in Highrock Meadow exceeded our expectations except for the couch and recliner in the tv room. They were not at all comfortable and had seen better days, replacement is necessary and long overdue. All in all we did love our stay and definitely would not hesitate on returning to the beautiful Highrock Cabins and this great area of North Carolina.

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and had a great vacation! We appreciate your feedback regarding the couch. We take all feedback under consideration, and annually review for furniture. Kitchen items, linen, towels, etc... that may need to be replacement from general wear and tear. Our goal is maintain cabins like 'new' condition. Thanks again.
