About this property
Gear up for spring: fish, kayak and relax!
Single story cottage located directly on Jimmerson Lake with pier and small sandy beach area. Originally built in the 1950's by owner's grandparents, the home has been charmingly re-decorated and has a large deck with excellent sunset views. Jimmerson Lake is a 203 acre lake that is popular for fishing and is also open to skiers. The cottage is located on a large cove of the lake with less ski boat traffic making it easier to float or swim. Take your boat and access all the lakes on the Lake James chain including Jimmerson Lake, Lake James (1,039 acres), Snow Lake (421 acres), Big Otter Lake and Little Otter Lake. The cottage is the perfect relaxing retreat for a family or avid fishermen who plan to spend most of their time outdoors and on the lake. Peace and quiet during the Fall and Spring is a fantastic time to visit and get away from the hustle and bustle! Take time to unwind! The cottage has a small but functional kitchen with stove, sink and refrigerator with a large round table that seats 8. Standard kitchen items included. Three bedrooms (2 with closet space) are charming with plenty of windows to let the breeze blow through. Two of the bedrooms offer lake views. Additional sleeping is available with a sofa sleeper bed. The single bathroom offers a remodeled feel with a shower only - no tub. Spend your days on the lake: boating, swimming, and fishing then spend your evenings playing yard games in the adjacent shaded lot or relaxing with the sunset views from the deck. Plenty of private lakefront footage includes a seawall with sandy walk in access area. Water stays around knee high for 15 feet from seawall perfect for children and allows easy access for kayaks/canoe. Adjacent lot offers ample parking space as well as room to set up badminton, croquet, corn hole or toss a ball. In addition bring some firewood for the fire pit located on adjacent lots. This excellent location on the lake is located within a 1/2 mile of a well maintained free conservation public boat access. In addition, the cottage is near Pokagon State Park, and Trine conservation area for hiking and biking, Tom's Donuts and several excellent local restaurants. If you prefer to fish, you can access through channels Big Otter Lake and Little Otter Lake which are non-ski lakes. Fishermen may find largemouth bass, brook trout, brown trout, bluegill, and flathead catfish as well as Northern Pike, Walleye, and Crappie throughout the chain of lakes. Home Owners are sharing their 2 kayaks, canoe and rowboat. The cottage also comes with beach style chairs, lawn chairs and plenty of seating on the deck. The cottage does have wifi. There is room on the pier so if guests choose, boats may be rented from The Corner Landing or guests may bring their own boat. Free lake boat access less than a mile away. ******** NO SMOKING NO PETS OUTDOOR Camera by front door only with motion activated light for arrivals after dark. Camera does record video and sound, however it is not actively monitored.

Great location in quiet area of the lake. Property listing was accurate. Good size living area. Only potential negative is adjacent property that advertises twelve bedrooms and sleeping capacity of eighteen.

Glad you had a great stay. We keep making updates every year to add to the fun. We love the large open shady lots with the fire pit on the one side of the cottage which offer lots of space for parking or outdoor games. Thanks again for choosing our cottage!
Very comfortable and perfect for spending time together as a family. We brought our boat and were able to dock right at the cottage (bring bumpers the other boats make wakes) and the launch was just down the street. We were very comfortable there and had everything we needed and more!!
This house is perfect for my family, we have young kids that are in and out all the time .
Owner is awesome to work with.

Happy to hear how much you enjoyed our cottage. Many wonderful memories have been made there over the years for us as well. Our grandson loves the fishing and going kayaking! Thank you for choosing our cottage. Kathy
If you want a more rustic lake experience, this is it! There are a lot of properties that have been upgraded/updated but we were looking for - and appreciated - a more retro experience. Kathy was super responsive as well!We really appreciated the use of the kayaks and sitting around the campfire (and firewood was even supplied!)
We came with two families and this cottage had everything we needed. Location, function and nice owners. We enjoyed the stay and it allowed our family time to catch up and have a little fun. Beds were very comfortable! Movies, kayaks, canoes and more make it a great stay

Great property on lake front with beach and boat/fishing dock. We all loved the fishing, camp fire at night and picnics on the deck that overlooked the lake. The house was super clean. Great stay overall. Would definitely come again!

About the host
Hosted by Kathy S Bates
Originally built by our family in the 1950's, this has been the family retreat for many years. It's been kept in the family for 3 generations and the current owners, my husband and I (granddaughter of original owner), live on a farm and raise Angus Cattle which limits our time at the Lake. We want to share the enjoyment that this cottage brings us and hope that your family can build lasting memories as well.
Why they chose this property
This cottage has been remodeled yet still offers that "cabin by the lake" feel. It's relaxing and located in a prime location in a wide basin directly off the main lake. We want you to make memories and enjoy your stay so kayaks and cornhole as well as various other games are available for use during your stay. *Just down the road to free Department of Conservation boat ramp *Guests can kayak in the channel all the way to the Nevada Mills Dam (over a mile) without having to be in the main lake. *Additional lots beside the cabin may be used for parking (if you bring a boat or several cars) as well as for outdoor fun such as badminton or cornhole or tents. *Enjoy the fire pit on the hill that offers excellent views of the lake while located away from the cottage. Bring your chocolate, marshmallows and graham crackers to make smores over a fire in the evening. (Firewood is not supplied) *A new seawall offers an open sandy area for kids to play or easy access to lake for kayaks, canoe and rowboat. (owner offers use of their kayaks, canoe, rowboat) *Water is stays knee high for around 15 feet + from shore offering more water fun for kids. *Unlike most lake lots the neighbors are close on 1 side only and the grass open lot on side of the cottage is included in the rental for parking, games and use of new fire pit. *New sidewalk, concrete patio and gravel parking area for level walk to cottage. *Great deck looking out to the lake that stays shaded most of the day!
What makes this property unique
*TONS of room to park your trucks and boat trailers! *Lots of wildlife to see and peaceful setting with 2 open lots on one side of the cabin leaving tons of room for kids to safely play. *Furthermore the cottage is located almost at the end of the road with only 2 homes past it so there is no street noise and very little traffic. *Located past a channel that cuts down on some boat traffic, the no wake zone starts slightly past the cottage so kayaking can be done on quiet water.
