Bring your own toys to this spacious 2 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath home set on 10 peaceful and private acres on the Manistee River.

Sleeps 7 comfortably with plenty of space to spare. Huge soaking tub overlooking the pristine Pine Stump Preserve of the Au Sable State Forest. This bathroom also hosts a large walk in shower.
A true outdoor enthusiasts paradise! Back country rustic setting where wildlife abounds. World class fly fishing, kayaking, and canoeing right out the back door. Property borders of state land. Easy access to the Frederick ORV trails right down the road!
Home is located 45 minutes from northern Michigans treasured Traverse City. Wineries, Breweries, golf, shopping, and boating only a short drive away.
A perfect Basecamp for you to truly enjoy and explore Michigan’s beautiful Up North. A note of caution, the two track roads are unimproved, therefore be prepared for various conditions as we are not responsible for inability to access or damage to vehicle. 4WD recommended

We loved this place! The cabin was beautifully decorated and SO clean. We enjoyed the isolated location and proximity to the river. After a day of exploring around northern Michigan, this was a wonderful place to come home to. We enjoyed sitting on the deck in the morning watching the birds and gazing at the beautiful stars at night. We will be back!

Secluded, beautiful location. We loved the layout of the house. The soaking tub was a nice bonus. Kitchen had plenty of dishes, utensils, appliances, etc. DVDs and board games available for rainy weather. Nice deck for listening to birds and enjoying nature. Follow the host's advice and bring a 4WD vehicle!

Stay at Manistee River

Good communication with host. Very quiet place out of the way and nestled far in the woods. Some things were provided and some were not. Coffee filters, but no coffee. No soap to shower with. Luckily, there is a dollar store not too far away in which we purchased these things, so no biggie. The host had mentioned before our arrival that the a/c was out. To our surprise there was a portable unit upstairs that was on when we arrived which cooled the place down perfectly.

Quiet and Secluded

Long 4-wheeling weekend

We stayed here for a long 4 wheeling weekend, you can ride from the cabin to the trails with great restaurants along the trails. The location is remote and we were able to get a truck and long trailer in but it was tight in spots coming down the 1 mile track to the drive-way. We needed 4wheel drive due to the sand and the large trailer in one spot, so depending on time of year, keep that in mind. The cabin was comfortable, has everything you need, does not have WiFi but our phones got service with no issues, so no problem for us with no WiFi. Great communication, great check-in, location is beautiful.

A Very Nice Getaway

My family and I really enjoyed our time here. A great location for everything "Up North", spent time at Hartwick Pines, Gaylord, Grayling, Otsego Lake, and Charlevoix all in a four day weekend as it was conveniently located to all. After spending the day out it was great to come back and relax while kids played about. Very impressed and would recommend.

Another perfect vacation!

This was our second consecutive year staying at this property. We love the seclusion and tranquility it provides our family. The kids played in the woods and we kayaked the river launching directly in front of the house. The fires at night were excellent and the stars were out in abundance. We had a fantastic vacation!

Frederic trip for trail riding

Beautiful place, peaceful, and off the beaten path. The Host (Erinn) communicated well, assisting with good directions for property location. The river is accessible by just walking in without any bank to hurdle. All amenities needed, were on sight. The beautiful oversize tub was out of commission during our stay, due to some maintenance issue that had not been resolved prior to our check-in, which was the only disappointment. Great place, great vacaion, great Host. Thank you Erinn, we loved this place!

fly fishing adventure

We had a great time staying at this cabin in the woods. It was on a great remote spot on the Upper manistee river. The location was ideal for ease of access to world class fly fishing.

Sweet solitude

Great communication with owner through out entire process.. Property is very remote isolated and back a sandy 2 track.. Dont take a low riding car.. This is exactly what we wanted.. Surrounded by thousands of acres of state land. Very peaceful and relaxing..house is beautiful and well decorated. We loved coffee on the deck

Great Cabin!

It is super clean, mostly updated and fully stocked with essential household items. The river is a two minute walk. Wished we had brought our kayaks. It really was perfect just wished it was a little closer to Grayling. For those who might know the area, my parents live right at M72/M93 and it took us 25+ minutes from the cabin because of the slow, dirt roads to get back there. But we will definitely book it again!

Awesome vacation!

This property was awesome for our outdoor family! The kids played deep in the forest all day. The evening/night fires were amazing and we couldn’t have been happier!

Great get away

This was a fantastic place to unplug from normal life. The wife and I really enjoyed it. My boys loved being able to go down to the river in short blasts (it was cold). Looking through all the books made us want to up our physical media game. The 3 things that the boys loved was: River, bunkbeds and bathtub. Thank so much for sharing with us. The Johnson's
