Summary: This garden level space is perfect if you're on a budget and desire privacy, comfort and cleanliness. Renovated using top-end finishes including Imported Spanish Tile flooring as well as many other high-end materials. Enjoy peaceful slumbers on our new Gel Memory Foam mattresses and white linen sheets while enjoying streaming services on SmartTV. Located minutes away from Boston Landing Train, easy access to Fenway Park & Copley Sq.
The Space: This room was constructed to host Airbnb guests and is designed for travelers seeking the comfort, convenience and cleanliness they would find in a hotel, but at a fraction of the price. This basement level room is equipped with a Smart TV, Wifi, Queen bed with Memory Foam mattress, keurig coffee maker, mini fridge and private bath. There is NO KITCHEN or access to cooking equipment, however there are so many takeout options in our immediate area that one can get food delivered from any number of restaurants in under an hour.
Our home is a classic three-decker. We now do Airbnb on the 2nd floor and in these two basement bedrooms. The basement has a private entrance around the back of our home for added privacy. A unique access code is generated for each reservation that provides access to the foyer door and then your unit door. Walk through the comfortable foyer area and you will find a large finished basement with two separate units on opposite sides of the house, each designed like a hotel room with private access and en-suite bathroom.
Guest Access: We offer coin operated laundry for guests to use. The laundry units are in the foyer area of the basement entrance. This foyer area is a shared space. Off-street parking is available for free, however it must be reserved at the time of booking. Unrestricted street parking is available all weekend. Mon-Friday 8am-6pm there is a loosely enforced 2-hour restriction on street parking without a resident sticker.
The Neighborhood: The Allston/Brighton neighborhood has probably the deepest and most diverse selection of restaurants of any neighborhood in Boston. Within a short walk from our home hungry guests can find food from just about any ethnicity, a traditional steak house, seafood or the recently opened Flatbreads that offers Bowling and is only a five minute walk from our property. The property is four miles from Boston Common, which is the center of Boston, and a 20 minutes drive from Logan Airport. Supermarket, Liquor Store, Starbucks, Pharmacy, Restaurants and Retail, Bus Transportation, and Train to Downtown Boston are within 5-10 minute walk. Neighborhood is safe and well lit. Also close to Harvard Business, New Balance, WGBH, Bruins and Celtics Training Facilities, Boston University and Boston College. Target, Home Depot, Best Buy, Marshalls, Home Goods less than a mile away.
Getting Around: We are a five minute walk from the Boston Landing Train Station which makes getting to Fenway Park, Back Bay or South Station quick and easy. At the end of my street there is bus service to Harvard & Central Square. If you have a car getting to Downtown Boston or points north, south or west of Boston are easily accessed by either the Mass Pike or Storrow Drive. Logan Airport is an easy 20 minute ride. Uber and Lyft are also readily available.
Other Things to Note: The room is located in the basement of our home but was recently constructed to the highest standard and meets all required building and safety codes. There are two similar rooms in our basement (each with their own bathroom, and each with their own unique door lock codes) that share a private entrance from the rest of the house and common area foyer.
We are located in the Brighton neighborhood of Boston, 4 miles from Downtown. We are close to several buses and the Boston Landing train stop is right down the road, about a 5-minute walk. The Boston Landing inbound train goes to Fenway, Back Bay (Downtown) and South Station.
You can find a link to the train schedule by going to MBTA (dot com) and selecting the Worcester commuter train.

The stay here was perfect for my wife and me. It is close ( 0.5 miles) to the purple line, even closer (.2 miles) to a bus stop, and close to restaurants and a brewery (Notch).Note: Big Daddy's Pizza is very close.2 miles) and was superb!
The Harvard Room served our purpose. We do not like hotels so this was the perfect option. Plenty of room to unwind at the end of the day walking the streets of Boston. Clean and fresh. The hosts were awesome. They were excellent the whole way from communicating proactively to making sure we had no problem accessing the unit, etc.We highly recommend this VRBO option.

Nice, cozy, clean and safe place. It was a 40 minute walk from Harvard Square and local transportation was available nearby.
This property is in a lovely, quiet residential neighborhood within walking distance to Pavement Coffee, the Brighton Emporium (a must-see shop of art, antiques, and oddities!), Star Market, and the Speedway area with Notch Brewery and a variety of dining options (selections vary by the day of the week but Notch allows you to get food delivered as well). This property has the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, surpassing my own. Basic comforts are provided for, and there is a lot of privacy.
Clean, Newly renovated basement, self-contained secure bedroom unit with an adjoining bathroom. Conveniently located near Boston Landing train stop .Ideal for the Track at New Balance venues.

We had a great stay here in this nicely decorated, clean room. The bed was soft and comfy with lots of pillows. There was everything we needed including toiletries in case we had forgotten something. The 10am checkout time was a little earlier than we would have liked but wouldn’t deter us from staying there again
The Harvard Room was perfect for our two-night stay close to downtown. The room was immaculate, quiet and newly furnished with everything we needed, right down to virtually unlimited coffee capsules. The owners made check-in extremely easy and answered questions quickly. Having a commuter rail station (Boston Landing) only a half-mile away was a big plus. The station for Fenway, Fine Arts Museum and other top Boston attractions was just one stop away. We're hoping to go back soon and continue discovering all Boston offers.

The location was lovely, just what we wanted, close to attractions we wanted to see in Boston. Safe. Clean, A/C. My son loved that we could log onto our own Netflix when we were chilling at night. The Keurig was a nice touch.
There were a couple personal items left in the desk from the person before us, I assume, and I think she didn't remember to log out of her Netflix, but that was minor. Overall really enjoyed our stay.
Check in process was very easy. There is a main code for the door leading to the entry of the two rental units and then a different code for the door to the room. Our code to the room didn't work but the owner responded within a few minutes with a different code. The laundry is right in the entryway to the two units and it was very nice to get to do a load of laundry. The room had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable with 4 nice pillows and plenty of towels were provided. Having parking was a huge perk! It is true what I read in some of the other reviews that you can hear people walking on the floor above the basement unit but honestly it wasn't bad. The walking started around 7 am and we were usually up and getting ready to go explore Boston anyway by that time. The neighborhood seemed safe with nice cars parked on the street, people jogging, and families walking with strollers.
We stay in a lot of short-term rentals for travel. This one was a standout. The included parking is a huge benefit. The neighborhood provides walkable restaurants and feels mostly safe. We walked home in the dark, and I wouldn't have wanted to be alone as a woman, but it was fine with a friend. The room was clean and large enough to be comfortable. The bed was SO comfortable. I picky about mattresses and loved it. The house is a bit noisy. You cam hear other guests and people walking above you. A guest came in at about 3 a.m. loudly talking and playing music. But overall people were respectful and there was minimal traffic noise for how bustling an area it is. The little things matter to me. Like there were small toothpaste tubes available. We miscommunicated and neither of us brought toothpaste. What a nice surprise to find some! There was tea and coffee available and the online help guides meant there was zero confusion about anything. There were a couple of inconveniences like the headboard was a little noisy and could be better attached and you get water in the face when you turn the shower on because of how it's set up. I had to say a couple negative things, right? But they were so minimal compared to how great everything else was. The hosts were very communicative and responsive. We didn't have any issues, but I feel like they would be on top if any. Check out was a breeze. There aren't any chores to be done which is lovely. I will definitely see if this place

Clean and affordable.
Location was great, neighborhood was not quite what we expected. But suite was clean , and bed comfortable.
Great location for participating in the HOCR as it is a 20 minute walk to the FALS area. Good coffee shop and grocery store nearby as well. Suited our needs very well!
The room was clean and the bed was comfortable! Communication with the owner was excellent. Great coffee shop close by. A bit of a walk to the train. The bus stop was closer. The only thing I would have desired was some outdoor space to sit in the morning/evening.

Lovely apartment.
This studio is lovely and perfect for 1-2 people, no more. On the other hand, the neighborhood is pretty sketchy. It's not terrible geographically speaking, as it's not far from the airport or BU, but that's where it ends. I was worried about walking around there by myself, even during the day. Brighton looks like it's fine for a couple, but not for a single woman.
We stayed for two evenings and found our room to be very clean. After a long day of travel it was nice to sink into the bed and relax. The bathroom was clean and everything worked well. Toiletries and coffee were a welcome touch. I took off one star because the pillows provided no support and I slept poorly because of it, but otherwise, everything was perfect. There are some nice bars and restaurants within close walking distance as well!

Perfect stay for a short visit
The drive to the property can raise questions about the location - I was a little uneasy as it feels like you’re on the outskirts of town. However, upon arrival, you realize that the property is extremely nice and safe. My boyfriend and I were there for a quick 2-night stay. Keep in mind you’re sharing the basement with another VRBO room (completely separated). The room was very clean and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The bathroom is updated and also super nice. If you’re only there to sleep at night, it’s the perfect location! The hosts are extremely helpful and have great communication via the app. They let us keep our luggage in storage space after check out - very helpful and kind! Definitely recommend for a budget stay.

Experienced property owner with a background in Hospitality and Real Estate. Hosting guests is a passion I get to share with my wife, we love sharing our favorite places to eat and visit in Boston.
Why they chose this property
Extremely convenient to Downtown Boston, Harvard Square and Logan Airport. Loads of shops, restaurants, bars, coffee shops and supermarkets located within walking distance. Additionally, our property has been recently renovated and is extremely well cared for.
What makes this property unique
We are in the Allston/Brighton neighborhood of Boston. This is a traditional 3-decker apartment building. We renovated our basement and host two identical hotel room-like units in this space. There is a shared foyer entrance and then two individual units on this story of the building. Each unit has its own smart locks, bathroom with shampoo/conditioner/travel toiletries, desk, coffee maker, smart TV, and minifridge. There is no kitchen in this unit.
