Hukapapa Lodge Tuakana

Planning a holiday in the snow or just wanting to experience the magical Central Plateau. Then you can't go past Hukapapa Lodge. From the huge deck you can enjoy a hot coffee in the morning sun, view the mist rising over tranquil Raurimu, and watch the train going over the world renowned Raurimu Spiral. Visit the Raurimu Rex, cleverly sculptured out of driftwood, so popular with the kids. Get your ski gear on and hit the slopes. Only 20 mins to Whakapapa ski field. After a hard day of fun and adventure, kick back and relax in front of a blazing hot fire, or head off to the hot pools in Tokaanu. The friendly neighbors at Wades Landing have a licensed bar, and a restaurant that serves good value, hearty meals. A five min drive to National Park, and you'll find several bars and restaurants and a service station/grocery shop, where you can buy petrol and all your supplies.

This comfortable family home is fully equipped to give you the R and R you deserve. Easy to find on SH4, Raurimu. The handy location allows you to enjoy all the activities in Tongariro’s National Park – skiing, snowboarding, cycling, golfing, walking the Tongariro crossing or tramping the various walks in National Park. The Tokaanu hot pools, which are only 40 mins away, are just what you need after a hard day on the slopes.

Hukapapa Tuakana is one of two homes on the same property. Hukapapa Teina is a 2 bdrm unit (See listing for Hukapapa Teina). If you wish to book both properties for a large group or whanau, discounts may apply, POA.

Refurbished kitchen, with full sized amenities to cater for big groups. Very spacious open plan with high ceilings in lounge, large bedrooms and deck and a blazing hot woodfire that heats the whole house.
Special conditions:
Linen can be supplied for $10 per person per stay, otherwise please bring your own sheets, pillow cases and towels.
Blankets, duvets, pillows and tea towels are provided.
Cleaning service is available for a fee of $60. If you want this service please advise us before your stay.
For extra adults or children, please email any enquiries.
Smoking allowed outside only.
A max. 6 people only on top deck at any one time.

NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave.

Although the property is a little older then other properties we stayed at, it was cosy and welcoming staying there. Close enough to National Park but far enough away so that we wouldnt get bothered.

Property location is great. Ample space for 10 people. Property is in need of some cosmetic tlc. With 10 guests an additional bathroom would have been a bonus, but apart from that we enjoyed our stay extremely much. Thank you!

The house was old but nice. What I didn’t like to much is how clean it was you can clearly see was a rush job from the cleaners is definitely needed more attention on cleaning like the window was dirty and the carpet wasn’t vacuumed well. All rest was good and nice. Thank you

Our stay at Hukapapa Lodge

We had a lovely stay at the lodge, the fire was great, plenty of beds and nice open plan living area. Could do with a bit of maintenance with one broken window taped up and signs for the upstairs deck saying it was not accessible due to it be unsafe, also we were in need of another heater for one room. But apart from that we had a wonderful time and our children loved the house so much! It was a great spot to stay close to the mountain for our children’s first snow experience. Ngā mihi nui :)

It was quite an experience. Can get very cold overnight once the fire goes out. Also takes a while for the house to warm up, Suggest instant heating like Heatpump. Trucks passing by woke me up a few times overnight as it's close to the highway. But overall we enjoyed our stay and the peaceful environment not forgetting it's very close to the ski field so didn't take us long to travel. Host were spot on with communication and helpfull too. Don't mind going back for the price. Thanks

Good location for switching off

Property is a little rundown and needing maintenance , but reflected in price . Nice location for switching off and refreshing the mind. Loved to history in the rail across the road.

Fambam Holiday

This lovely home accommodated our big whanau of 10. We slept comfortably and the fire kept us all warm. We had good quality time spent together. The house had everything we needed. The only thing we would have liked was to have another wharepaku and for the shower pressure to be more stronger. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would be happy to stay again.
