Located in prime elevated position alongside the Reserve that links Kaiteriteri Beach with Little Kaiteriteri

Direct access (3 to 5 minutes walk) to both Kaiteriteri and Little Kaiteriteri. You will enjoy being able to leave your car at the house and avoid parking congestion at the beach, walking to each beach off-road through the native bush if you choose.

Stunning views from French doors and windows on all sides of the house

Gold sand stretches out in each direction

Fall asleep listening to the waves on each side of the headland

Downhill in a few minutes on your bike to the mountain bike park

Ample parking at the end of a private driveway

Due to a calendar error, my guests had to wait 2 hours while the house was prepared, and check in at 6 pm instead of 4 pm. I’m pleased that they enjoyed their stay after that initial hiccup. By way of apology and compensation, I refunded to them the entire payment for their first night’s stay.

We spent a delightful 3 nights in Kaiteriteri, perfectly positioned on the point between Little Kaitereri and Big Kaitereri. The location is ideal for easy walks to either beach along the scenic track.Ellie, our host, was incredibly attentive and genuinely sweet. She went above and beyond, leaving thoughtful touches like chocolates, wine, and fresh milk in the fridge.The cabin itself was beautiful and well stocked with everything you could possibly need. Our kids enjoyed the games and had a blast playing outside in the sunshine.We highly recommend Ellie and are immensely grateful for sharing her incredible home with us. We’ll definitely be back for a longer stay next time.

Beautiful views, character building

The character of the building is interesting, the setting is amazing, great privacy while still being close, access to the beaches is well formed steep track so great if you are able. Access to the house requires use of steps and there are some accessibility challenges. There is everything you could want to enjoy your stay.

This was the home of New Zealand fiction writer Michael Henderson, first New Zealand Master of Fine Arts graduate of the University of Iowa Writers’ Workshop, whose books can be enjoyed in the house.

Why they chose this property

Five generations of the family have lived in the area and visited Kaiteriteri Beach from earliest days when the road was just a track.

What makes this property unique

The house was built in 1997 on the bare section bought in 1970 and has not changed hands in that time. It gives a comfortable and authentic holiday experience and does not simply transport the visiting guests to another suburban setting.
