This is a great place to take the family. Nice size, clean, well stocked with things you need, communication with the host was awesome, they always got back to me quickly. We would definitely stay there again.
This property was absolutely fantastic. Had everything we needed. Linens, towels, kitchen supplies, A game room that had plenty of activities for all ages. The honors were very responsive to a couple of questions I had. The beds were extremely comfortable. Showers had excellent water pressure and temperatures. Convection stove top oven and microwave made home-cooked meals very easy. We would absolutely stay there again and recommend it to our friends and family.
Had a great and convenient stay. House was clean and as advertised. The game room was a fun place to hang out. would definitely recommend staying at Big Dipper.
This house was amazing for our quick getaway. The game room was a huge hit for the whole family. The owners were super sweet and the communication was great. Definitely recommend.
This was a perfect spot for us and our adult kids. It was close to Big Cove where we have friends and it was a nice quiet neighborhood. We could see the lake through the trees. Perfect layout & size of the house plus a nice little game room, which came in handy because the water was too choppy on Saturday to take the boat out!
We stayed at the Big Dipper in September to attend a wedding in Almanor. The unit was very well appointed, very clean and comfortable for our party of four. The cabin has everything you need for a weekend or week and the property owners were very easy to communicate with. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable place to stay on your next visit to Lake Almanor.
We took son and grandkids for a little get away to Lake Almanor and this was the perfect place! Lots of room for everyone, well stocked kitchen- even a bag of ice in the freezer! Kids loved the game room and we all cozied up and watched movies at night in the living room with reclining sofa seats and snuggly blankets. Perfect after a day of fun at the lake!
Loved our stay! Perfecr for our family and pets. As pet owners we are always glad to bring our fur children but some places that allow animals are dirty from pet use. Not this place! Having respectful boundries and rules makes it so i felt clean in this home the whole time!
This property was great. We came up for a relaxing weekend and it did not disappoint. Everything was accurately listed in the description. Owners were very responsive. The house was super clean. It except pets but you would never know it. Everything was well stocked. They even had cookies, popcorn and hot chocolate available. It was close to the lake, restaurants and a short drive into Chester. We’ll definitely be back in the summer with the wife and kids.
Two retired folks enjoying the mountains. Just loved the kitchen because we both love to cook and eat and it was perfect. The pots and pans and cutlery made us feel at home. The bedrooms are at the separate ends and can’t wait to bring my grandkids with me next time. The bathrooms were lovely and so accessible and I am even handicapped. They have a game room that would thrill all ages with ping-pong and pinball and more. Easy parking right by your back door, which for old folks like us made it perfect. Icing on the cake was a wonderful Mexican restaurant down the street that has fantastic food that we enjoyed very much. We travel up there often and I will definitely be going there again.

I dont know where to start. So here it goes, all was good up to check inn time.We go inside and realize the place had not been cleaned and the bedding all piled up on the floor. While driving 3 hrs thru rock slides and monsoon rain and light snow to get there. The tried to text me but didnt come thru till i was there. So I try calling the owner no reception so we decide to leave for some reception and the cleaning lady shows up saying she needs 2 hrs to clean. Check inn was 4 so we agree to go to dinner and comeback. Now there are 2 vehicles in the way no place to park but behind them. Go inside and find the plumber explaining to me that the water heater is leaking. Talk to the owner and says he is can eling my res and an not stay therecall VRBO they can help.Spend 1.5 hrs on the trying to email them info they needed to give points and no help at all to find a place to stay. They tell me they cant reach the owner. So we ended up drivinb thru a snow storm 20 miles till we found a Hotel. Owner was NO HELP at emailed me the next day to say sorry and would like to make it up to me on another stay sometime. NO THANKS....WORST EXPERIENCE....I have used VRBO alot in the past dont know if I want to go thru that again...

Response from VrboOwner on 12 Apr, 2025
I tried throughout the day to contact the guest. Left multiple messages but he came up in a snowstorm. My housekeeper arrived to find my hot water heater had flooded three rooms. I explained to him that I could not honor the reservation because I needed over 1000 sqft of flooring and walls torn up to see the extent of the damage. The unit was shut down for 2 months to restore and repair the damages. The comment " Owner was no help", is a stretch. I offered to set him up in another one of my units which he declined and stated he would find a place to stay. I explained how difficult it would be in a snowstorm but was upset at circumstances outside my control. I felt horrible and offered another stay after I was back online but a retaliatory review was what he thought was best. He was correct in that VRBO was no help.
