Here are some updates on the house....
Fall 2016 - Another big update coming, more info and pictures to come!
July 2016 - GOOD NEWS!! The NEW washer and dryer are available to all guests. Also a brand new dishwasher has been installed, yay!
May 2016 - Fresh paint and some new sauce pans. On a sad note, some guests stole 3 metal wall art pieces, not valuable, but sentimental. Put in some ugly seashell pics until i can find more suitable replacements.
April 2015 - Good news (for you. For us, not so much...) The hot water heater fought the good fight, but finally went ka-putz. So, we installed a brand new one! The space could fit 40 gallons, so we put in a standard tank heater. Eventually our goal is to add an instant hot water heater too, which would help keep you toasty during those long vacation showers, but for now the brand new tank should work great. :)
February 2015 - Winter is a good time to get new carpets. Three new big rugs. Funny this is the wimpy throw rugs have lasted forever, but the big rugs get replaced often, would not have expected that. Let me know what you think about the big flowered rug! Got lots of quotes on repainting and/or replacing all the siding. The house doesn't need it other than to make it look better. Boy is this salt water tough on the outside of the house, it would look better, but a big investment. Let me know what you think....
December 2014 -Wine glasses, oh wine glasses! We volunteered for an event for the AMOA and they had a case of wine glasses that needed a home so now there are PLENTY at the house! Look for them under the very cool wood island in the kitchen.
July 2014 - So, some of the taller folks requested a bed without a foot board, no problem! We changed out the twin bed to a simpler design that does not have a foot board, still has a trundle! House still needs more books, lots seemed to find other new homes this summer, which is ok, but we need to replenish. Good news is our oldest is just starting to learn to read, when our kids grow out of those easy readers we will bring them to the house!
March 2014 - We spent this weekend painting inside at the house. Still the same color, but new paint on nearly all the walls. Also scrubbed all the windows, inside and out. Cleaned the solar panels and really trimmed the trees, no more attack palms. :) The pine tree in the backyard has been tough on the grass though, hopefully the spring showers will revive the lawn. Also we put up some crazy cowboy art; 3 large paintings, definitely adds character! We added 10 new cereal bowls and I should have brought more forks (again, where do the forks go...?), but I will bring more the next time were are there. Added some new games, but removed the small pieces, sorry teenagers, I'm looking out for the little guys. Most exciting addition this spring are the 2 new hammocks, one is a big investment, but we are hoping it lasts a long time. Busy spring ahead, I look forward to the feedback!
November 2013 - Our rental manager just confirmed the 'deep clean' will be complete before the end of the month. We hope to get to the house soon and bring more books. What do you want on a beach vacation? Let me know when you send me your inquiry!
June/July 2013 - We will be at the house in early July, with a truckload of new sheets, towels, 3 new sets of silverware and more wine glasses. (Wine glasses and forks, seem to be what needs to be added most, eating and drinking vacationers, we love it!) New lightbulbs and air filters too. We are also going to try to replenish the toys & books a bit too.
September 2012 - Changed all the light bulbs added some new artwork to the walls and looking forward to fall!
June 2012 - We are excited for summer! We just made a big investment in all new 400+ thread count cotton sheets, additional towels, new cooking pans and some new 'summer appropriate' wine glasses! Thank you for considering our house!

VRBO Bear stayed here:
This week I traveled with a young family to Port Aransas. I enjoyed a long weekend in this home close to the beach but with an updated and modern feel. The couches in the living room are so comfortable! We found them perfect for relaxing with our morning coffee, evening drinks, and just an afternoon rest with our favorite books. But don’t sit down, or you won’t want to get up!
Stainless steel appliances, great wine glasses, bar seats that face the kitchen, next to elegant table and chairs provide a great setting for good meals with friends and family. The kitchen looks out to a fabulous second story deck with a grill, table and chairs, and plenty of space for family and friends. Kids and dogs will be safe on the deck with a sturdy wrap around railing that’s approximately 4 feet high.
For a great night’s sleep, we found two very comfortable queen beds with lots of pillows and blankets and even LCDs with Dish Satellite TVs to watch movies in bed. The master suite has privacy and its own bathroom, slightly separated from the other two bedrooms but still close enough to hear a child milling about in the night. The kids fit comfortably in the third bedroom with two twin beds, right across from a bathroom.
Labeled “The Tree House”, the living, sleeping, and dining areas are on the second floor. On the ground level, we found a hammock for relaxing outside surrounded by a grassy fenced in area for kids or pets to run around. This vacation rental is fantastic. More friends visited for a day and kept commenting that it is absolutely gorgeous! They were surprised to see such a nicely decorated house that was perfect for entertaining but also kid-friendly so close to the beach and downtown.
We enjoyed dinner and great beer at the Port Aransas Brewery. Try their famous Burgers and sweet potato fries! There are plenty of activities to try as well: Free Tour at the UT Marine Science Center, dolphin tour at Woody’s Sports Center or tour the most famous aircraft carrier, the USS Lexington.
For a perfect relaxing getaway or family vacation, I highly recommend this Port Aransas vacation rental home!

About: (VRBO says Manager Info, but we are the owners, we work with a local manager) My husband grew up in Texas, and Port Aransas has been a favorite destination of his family for generations. I grew up in Colorado and have always loved the beach. We were very lucky when my husband had the opportunity to spend 2008 consulting on the development of the Wetlands Education Center at the University of Texas Marine Science facility on the island. We purchased the house to live in while he was on assignment. When the project was complete we loved the house so much we decided to keep it in the family so our new baby would have the same opportunity to visit the island that my husband did growing up. We invite you to enjoy your home on the island!
Why Port Aransas, TX, USA:
We chose this house because of the very friendly neighborhood and because of the layout of the house. With one bedroom and bathroom on the other side of the house of the other two bedrooms and bathroom kids get their 'own space' and their own bathroom with a tub! We also really enjoy the big open living / dining / kitchen setup. I insisted on a large deck with a shaded and fenced in yard for our big dog.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
In 2010 we are proud that we made the investment in renewable energy and installed a solar array on the house! The city inspector told us this is the only vacation property on the island powered by solar energy. More information about the house; we are within a few blocks of the beach, the closest beach access is off of Sandcastle Drive, which is less known by most vacationers so it is like having local access! It makes it only a few blocks to the beach, very easy. Also, we are in close proximity to so many things on the island; golf, fantastic restaurants, birding habitats, etc, but we are able to keep the rental price low compared to other properties because we do not live in a restricted development that requires high homeowners fees.
