About the host

Host profile image
I am an Australian retiree living between Sydney and the south coast. My husband and I love to travel, love adventure, and live an active lifestyle, mostly skiing and kitesurfing.

I am a property renovator and designer, working across drafting, hands on building, fit-out and interior styling.

I am an airbnb host of other properties and airbnb traveller. I am respectful and very tidy when I stay at properties and would appreciate the same kindness from my guests when I host my home.

Why they chose this property

Nestled 1.5 hours south of Sydney, our property feels worlds away. Amid rolling hills, misty valleys, and charming heritage villages, the Southern Highlands is my true sanctuary. Here the pace slows, the air turns crisp and clean, and every vista tells a story of timeless natural beauty.

From our verandah at dawn: lush pastures grazed by livestock, ancient eucalypts draping escarpments, distant ridges fading into haze. At 500–900m elevation on the Great Dividing Range, four distinct seasons paint the landscape in ever-changing hues.

What I enjoy most is the profound reconnection to nature, history, and genuine community. After Sydney’s hustle, I cherish simple rituals: morning coffee watching mist rise like steam, kookaburras, currawong, magpie and cockatoos echoing across landscape, watching horses in the nearby paddock, golden light shifting over Mount Gibraltar. The blend of English countryside charm with raw Australian wilderness creates pure magic. It’s deeply restorative—guests arrive frazzled and leave renewed, often saying they’ve left a piece of their heart here.

Four Seasons of Wonder
Winter: frosty mornings, rugged-up coziness.
Spring: tulips explode, blossoms bloom, markets buzz.
Summer: warm days, long golden evenings, shaded hikes and swimming holes.
Autumn: golden vines, russet leaves.

Nearby Charms
Bowral: stylish boutiques, tulips.
Berrima: sandstone heritage, famous pies.
Mittagong: friendly markets, gateway trails.
Bundanoon: glow worms. Robertson, Sutton Forest, Fitzroy Falls: pies, gardens, dramatic lookouts.
Vineyards, art trails, farm gates turn every drive into discovery.

Our welcoming home is the perfect base to hike, taste wines, relax amongst the trees and birds. Fresh air and slow pace work their magic fast. Guests often say, “We didn’t want to leave.” I never do either.
Come experience what I cherish most. The rolling hills await, mist is rising—book now and let this timeless corner of NSW embrace you. I look forward to hosting you!

What makes this property unique

This is no ordinary holiday rental—it's an original, lovingly restored early-20th-century country cottage set on a peaceful 2-acre block in the heart of the Southern Highlands.

Surrounded by open paddocks and mature trees, the property feels wonderfully private and secluded, yet it's only minutes from charming villages, wineries, and iconic lookouts. The moment you arrive, the quiet envelops you. No traffic noise, few neighbours in sight—just birdsong from rosellas, magpies, kookaburras, and the occasional wallaby or kangaroo grazing at the edge of the lawn. Wildlife is a constant, gentle presence here; mornings and evenings are especially magical with bird calls and soft rustling in the trees.

Inside, the cottage blends timeless character with stylish, comfortable modern touches. Exposed beams, rustic brick and timber floors meet soft neutral tones, quality linens, plush sofas, and thoughtful details that make every room feel warm and inviting. It’s genuinely cozy—perfect for curling up under a rug with a book or glass of local wine.

Accommodation includes 4 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. The generous master suite is conveniently located downstairs, complete with its own private sitting area, luxurious ensuite, and garden views—ideal for couples or those who prefer single-level living. The fully equipped kitchen features quality appliances, a large island, and plenty of bench space, so cooking feels like a pleasure rather than a chore.
Whether you’re escaping for a romantic getaway, a family gathering, or simply craving silence and space to breathe, this rare combination of authentic heritage charm, stylish comfort, total tranquility, and abundant wildlife sets our cottage apart.

Guests consistently tell us it feels like coming home to a place they never knew they needed. Come experience the quiet magic for yourself—we can’t wait to welcome you.
