About this property

Remote off grid island with log cabin and great fishing, water access only.

*This property is approximately 35km north of river valley. The address and pin shown are for the nearest convenience store.*

Are you ready to shift from our modern busy world to a quiet off grid paradise? Look no further. Silver lake is an extremely private getaway deep in Northern Ontario forest with great fishing, abundant wildlife, and bathtub-warm water in June through August. The cabin is located on an acre sized island in the middle of the lake with newly updated amenities to keep your mind at ease when you unplug from the world including solar power and starlink. Starlink is only activated when you choose to do so, and can remain unactivated for your entire stay. An activation fee of $35 will apply if you choose to use the high speed internet.

The kitchen appliances are run on a combination of propane and solar, and the interior of the cottage is open concept with a double bed attached to the dining area, a spacious loft with 3 twin cots, and 2 extra wide couches in the living room. The toilet is still a rustic outhouse, and it should be noted that there is no running water at this location at this time, we typically bathe off the side of the dock where there is an easy gradual slant into the water.

On the island you will find the main cottage, an outhouse, a fishing shack, a sea-can where the solar is tied back to, a spacious dock, and a secondary cottage and sauna house that are both still undergoing renovation in the off season. The lake is known for its abundant fish and species include Smallmouth Bass, Pickerel, Pike, and the occasional catfish. Loons favourite the lake and provide a haunting wake-up call on time every morning and throughout the day. At night the stars are fully on display with zero light pollution and an easy view of the little and big dipper, and during select months the northern lights can be seen.

2. This is water access only once you've reached the shore. You will need to bring your own boat. Alternative options for travel can be provided for a separate fee, including a boat and motor or a third party fly-in option.

3. Linens are not provided, it is recommended to bring sleeping bags and sleeping pads for the cots upstairs, and your preferred linens for the double bed on the main floor.

4. The cabin is expected to be left in the same condition it was found in, an additional cleaning fee will be charged if the property is not left in proper condition. A cleaner does come after every booking.

My name is Maggie Grant and this is my family cabin! I’ve enjoyed it my entire life but it has recently required some pricey renovations, so I’ve decided to open it up to renters to help cover the cost and breathe some new life into it!

Why they chose this property

This island was chosen by my father and uncle as a getaway during their mid 20’s to completely unplug from the world and they couldn’t have chosen a better place. The scenic views, haunting loon and coyote calls, big bass, and nightly frog serenades are the best reset you could ever ask for.

What makes this property unique

Having an island completely to yourself is quite an interesting feeling, and feeling like you’re taking a step back in time is unbelievable.
