Home From Home On The Ocean With Sauna Near Twillingate
Welcome to our beautiful traditional saltbox home in Herring Neck, a place once you visit you will always want to return to. Lovingly restored and decorated, this cosy place will make you feel at home from the moment you step through the door. It's located right on the ocean with gorgeous views, birds singing and nature and all the local trails and swimming spots right at your doorstep and just 10 min from nearby Twillingate. You will also get to enjoy a wood fired sauna with views over the bay.
The house offers a large eat-in kitchen with all the cook, oven and kitchenware as well as dinnerware, glasses and cutlery, coffee and tea making equipment (Nespresso and stovetop), a double oven, dishwasher and a fridge-freezer.
Downstairs is a cosy living and dining room with a fireplace. There is also a nice deck around the front and the side of the house to enjoy your morning cuppa or drinks from with most stunning views.
Upstairs there are two bedrooms - one with a queen bed and another with a double bed available and a bathroom and a landing reading nook with an armchair.
There are two other closed rooms which are not available for guests. As this is our full time home you'll see many personal photos and things around, we kindly ask that you leave those untouched. You're welcome to read any of the books we have on the bookshelf and there are several boardgames there as well.
Herring Neck is a small peaceful and picturesque outport community with ocean views pretty much everywhere you go. There are ocean views from both bedrooms and from almost every window of the house. There are several trails in the community as well as access to a swimming lake and with nearby Twillingate offering iceberg and historic tours, 18 different trails, art, pottery and restaurants and foodie experiences to enjoy.
At our house in Herring Neck you will also have access to a shared wharf just across the road if you wish to bring your own kayaks or canoes.
There is also a fire pit by the sauna that you can use but please make sure to check the most recent local fire ban status as this can change depending on the conditions. Also if it's windy, do not light a fire outside even if the fire regulations allow since embers can fly off to the nearby trees all too easily.
If you wish to bring a baby/toddler in a separate travel crib or bed you don't need to count them in the main number of people, just let us know.
Please also note that we have a vegetable garden in the front and two small greenhouses at the back. During the summer season you may see me watering the garden outside, I will let the guests know if I will need to do that.
