About Rob and Marj Rankin
We live on the property about 300 feet from the cabin. We built the cabin from a log kit, started in 2012 and finished in June 2013 for the rental season.
Rob and Marj Rankin purchased this Cabin in 2012
Why Rob and Marj Rankin chose Southwest Harbor
This cabin was finished this year, 2013. It measures 20' x 30 and features a separate bedroom, a sleeping loft, a separate bathroom, a full size kitchen and a screened in deck. It is nestled in a wooded area at the base of Mansel Mountain on the ‘Quiet Side’ of the Island, within 500 feet from the owners residence, cabin #1 and the nearest neighbor and only 3 miles to the center of town. There is private access to hiking and bicycling trails using your own entrance to Acadia National Park, right outside your front door. Within a short driving distance there are swimming, deep sea and fresh water fishing, canoeing, kayaking and boat rentals. There are also other recreations such as golf, tennis, horseback riding, Whale Watching cruises, glider rides, Park guided tours, bird watching, lighthouse tours and galleries within a short driving distance.

Sweet Cabin in Southwest Harbor
Marj & Rob are wonderful hosts. 2nd time we have stayed at their cabins. We love being out in the quiet woods, but also close to SW Harbor town, Acadia and Bar Harbor. Hiked every day, enjoyed town or came back to enjoy a campfire. Great location and cabin.
We absolutely love everything about this cabin. Privacy, distance to some great trails, restaurants and gift shops. We are already thinking about booking for 2020. Highly recommend.
Great cabin in Acadia
This was a great place to spend a week in Acadia, it was as advertised. Clean, spacious for the three of us, and situated near great trails for hiking and biking. We will be back!
Private setting and close to everything!
Great experience from beginning to end. Cabin was perfect for our family and made our stay more private and affordable.
Clean and Comfortable
We loved this cabin on the quiet side of the island. Very clean and well stocked. The screened in porch is wonderful. Close to trails and cute shops in Southwest Harbor.
Great trip to Maine
We spent a fantastic week in Maine. The cabin met all of our families needs, and the owners were very pleasant. Our kids (11 & 9) loved sleeping in the loft. There were plenty of dishes, pots, and pans to make meals in the cabin if you wished to do so. A short ride took you into southwest harbor to their restaurants and shops. The connector trail that ran next to the property gave us access to plenty of hiking and to long pond. We really enjoyed our week here.
