About this property

Knee Deep in the Water Somewhere

Welcome to our beach house! This is our vacation home and we stay here often with our friends and family. We keep it as nice and clean as possible, and are always upgrading. We have 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with 3 King beds and two twin beds, all linens provided. We have an office with everything you need to work from The Beach! Monitor, printer, shredder, paper, etc. Our 1700 sf home is thoroughly cleaned after each guest.

Our House has a great layout for multiple families. The master bedroom is on one side of the house and the other bedrooms and bathroom are on the other side of the house. The huge family room is in the middle. The covered front patio is great to sit in the shade with a drink and the fans running to keep you cool. There is also a gate to keep your dog out there with you. The deck in the back is good for getting some sun.

Enjoy amazing the sunrises and sunsets on the unique South facing Oak Island. Let your only worry in the world be, 'is the tide gonna reach my chair' -Zac Brown Band

Bringing your boat? The public water access is just a few blocks over. The driveway is big enough to store your boat trailer, or there’s a public lot by the water access. We have beach chairs, beach towels, boogie boards, and a cooler for you to use. If it rains on your beach vacation don’t worry our family room comfortably seats 8+ to watch a movie! There are plenty of games for the kids and the adults. There’s a covered patio in the front and a large open deck in the back.

The location is fantastic! About a 1/2 mile to the beach, 1/2 block from the Intracoastal Waterway, a 3 blocks from the grocery store, ice cream, restaurants, shopping, miniature golf, and everything Oak Island has to offer. Oak Island has a great small town feel with only a couple 'chain' businesses. The vast majority of shops and restaurants are locally owned small business. Please visit as many as you can, you will not be disappointed.

Historic Southport is a short 20 minute drive to enjoy the southern charm, shopping, and restaurants. Hop on a ferry to beautiful Bald Head Island. Or the vehicle ferry will take you to Fort Fisher, and then a short drive to Wilmington.

I will provide you with a very small amount of necessities in case you check in late and cannot get to the store until the following day (paper towels, toilet paper, laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent, trash bags, etc). This is just a starter pack, not enough for your entire stay.

Well behaved dogs are welcome - if caged at night and when you are gone. Dogs are NOT allowed on the furniture or in the beds! You must bring your own cage. There will be a one time $150.00 pet fee, max 2 dogs. Sorry, no cats or any other animals allowed. The dog rules MUST be followed. If your dog is not well behaved, this might not be the best place to bring your furry friend.

For everyone's safety and security we have video surveillance on the outside of the building - nothing inside.

My family of 6 and I had a wonderful vacation here. The home had plenty of room for all of us to be comfortable. The house has everything you need. The front porch is the best! Home away from home

We were in town with folks from all over the country for a family emergency, and needed a place to use as a “home base” while managing the issue at hand. This house was PERFECT. It was squeaky clean, and so well equipped, it’s like they anticipated our every need. The property manager was an angel, and really helped to make our stay easy. I can’t wait to come back and stay for a beach vacation!

Fabulous Place to Stay for Vacay!

The online photos do not do this home justice. It is just beautiful, with large, spacious rooms and a huge covered porch. The owner supplies tons of games, coffee, dishes, bbq grill, etc. Everything you need to enjoy a vacation stay. If you forget anything, Food Lion is directly down the street. You can walk to the grocery store, several shops and restaurants, and the beach. There is also beach parking on 61st St. Not one complaint!

Great Family time at Knee Deep

House is clean, nicely furnished, had plenty of hooks for towels & swimsuits, & at great location. Beds are were very comfortable. Kitchen is nicely stocked with utensils, dishes, pots & pans, & small appliances. The ice maker in fridge works but is small, so I’d suggest having a cooler for ice. We had 6 adults & 1 child, & had plenty of room to spread out or all hang together in the awesome living room. Would definitely stay again!

Annual Fishing Trip 2024

This was our second straight year of renting this property. We had planned a different week, and the house was booked. We were so impressed last year with Knee Deep in the Water Somewhere and connection with the owner we decided to switch weeks so we were able to stay at Knee Deep in the Water Somewhere. Wonderful fishing trip with friends!

This was a great place for us to stay with friends. The home is so warm and well-appointed - really could not think of anything more that they could have provided. The house had many small things that you always have to run out several times to the store for. The owner was assessable by email and answered all question quickly. The owner's went up and above and refunded a pet deposit. They didn't leave anything to chance - great communication and care that we had a wonderful stay. Thank you for a wonderful stay and we will be back.

ALL the feels of HOME!

First timers to Oak Island and not the last. I felt at HOME the moment we arrived and truly appreciate the owners willingness to allow 2 dogs of any size(hard to find). The 5-star owner left a binder full of helpful tidbits about the home, beach spots, places to go, and the fabulous local restaurants on the island. I simply cannot say enough good things about this owner with communication and understanding. Lastly, the neighborhood is quiet, locals are super friendly, and the Sea Turtle Protection Program/volunteers are awesome. Now just give them your money and enjoy your stay.

Absolutely Perfect

Finding a home with at least 2 King size beds is HARD! This one’s has THREE! Both couples got to enjoy a nice bed to sleep in. And the mattresses were amazing. We all slept so well. Nice bathrooms. Kitchen just right for the five of us. Back deck wonderful. Our favorites were the extra large living room with sooo much room for everyone. The rest of our family stayed in another house but they came to ours to enjoy all being together because there was so much room. Open concept meant we could all be together in one large room. And the front porch with rocking chairs and ceiling fans was the best!!! Oh yeah… the beach… ha ha ha. It wasn’t far or hard to get to. Shopping is all around you. We enjoyed going to Art Time for some fun together. And there’s delicious food everywhere. We LOVED our stay at “Knee Deep in the Water Somewhere.” We hope to go back again. My aging parents enjoyed the house as well. Not too many steps to get in the house. That is a blessing to find at the beach.

Perfect home for our family vacation.

Everything was just as described and perfect for our family. We had plenty of room to come together for meals, movies & board games.
