Both the rental and the property are great. The view from the cabin overlooking the river is wonderful, and the cabin itself is spacious and clean. Will definitely return if the opportunity arises.
Remote off-the grid living!
We had the pleasure of staying at this cabin for Thanksgiving. It was warm, cozy and very remote. Solar electricity was new to us as was generator use. We got there in time for it to rain constantly for two days. We lost lights on the second night. Luckily the owner left directions and we figured out how to use the generator. The cabin was right on the river. It was beautiful but because of the rain we couldn’t take the trail down to the beach. We did see a deer right outside our door. My only complaint was the rain, but obviously that can’t be helped. I would recommend this place as a relaxing, remote place to enjoy during the summer. There was so much more we couldn’t do because of the constant rain but the cabin left us warm and dry.
Remote, quiet and beautiful.
Nice place to get away, off the Grid. House is very roomy. Walking down to the River is fun, it feels like being out in the wild.
Breath taking!!! Amazing family fun!
This place was everything we hoped for! A total disconnect from technology... it was a beautiful family vacation full of memories !
Gorgeous cabin in an incredible location. Quite, Gorgeous no internet or phone service
The river is stunning and this is the perfect location to recharge and being in contact with the beauty!
Beautiful, peaceful, restful, blissful.
My family and I had a wonderful time staying in this beautiful cabin on the river. It was so nice to be off-the-grid and out of cell service for five days - we all feel renewed and we've made family memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you Jim!
Here, almost from the moment you arrive, you are immersed in the splendor of nature at her most extravagant. Each path leads to a breathtaking world of contrasts - tiny flowers in the shadow of the world's largest trees, the silent grace of a solitary pelican dippings its wings the pounding surf, morning mists evaporating in the warmth of the sun. Del Norte County is all this and more. Unspoiled and unlike any other place on earth, Del Norte County is an experience in nature, both on her own terms AND in the many ways the natural environment shapes and directs the County's unique lifestyle. The google map is not accurate in showing where the house is.....house is on the Smith river and the 12 acre property actually crosses the river.....river sounds all day and nite....one of my most favorite spots on the planet......you will enjoy if you love nature and clean everything.....and remember we have wild friends around the house. From deer to bears that are very afriad of humans....so if you see one just make some noise and they will run away fast.....may look scary but totally harmless......Jim Matthews...owner
