The cabin is exactly as described in the listing! There’s a stream behind the cabin which is very serene to listen to too!
Christy was also very helpful with accommodation and check-in process!!
What a fabulous cabin. Very clean and exactly like the pictures. I ja e stayed in several VRBO cabins and this one was by far the most well equipped of them all. What a relaxing stay. The hot tub and the sounds of the river were most soothing. I can't reccomend this cabin enough!
My family and I (9 of us in total) stayed here for a long weekend just before Christmas and it was wonderful. The property was clean, the bedrooms were a good size, and the hosts were super hospitable (even providing a complimentary bottle of wine!). The kids loved playing outside and exploring, and the adults loved making a fire in the fire pit and listening to the river running by - it was so relaxing! Fantastic time and would highly recommend!

We are glad that you all had a great visit, and you enjoyed the wine! We hope you will visit again.
This was a wonderful property, conveniently located, and well-stocked. The amenities are thoughtfully laid and it was a very comfortable base of operations for a ski weekend with teenagers. All the communications was thoughtful and clear. Want to find an excuse to book again.

This home was perfect for our family’s stay. It’s was Very clean and very inviting. All the personal touches that this owner has thought of to make guest comfortable and welcome are apparent as soon as you walk in, to include complementary wine and glasses as a gift. Its in a great location, close to the heart of all attractions. All pictures and details of the listing are accurate. We will be returning to make more memories and intend to stay here again.

We are glad the wedding weekend was a success and we hope to host you all again soon!
We loved our stay at Mill Ridge! We arrived Christmas night to a winter wonderland with several inches of snow! The home is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. We had everything we needed for our group of adults, teens and preteen. The hot tub was enjoyed every night. The location is perfect for all the activities available in the area--we visited Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, went gem mining, snow tubing and snow boarding, all close by. We could not have asked for a better place to stay for our holiday get together and hope to return again in spring or summer soon!

We are glad your family enjoyed your visit and the bonus of snow to go with it! We would love to have you all back again, the spring and summer really make the river a fun hang out for kids and adults.
Wonderful experience renting this property. Owners have made the place very comfortable and relaxing. Overall an excellent setup with plenty amenities in the home to enjoy a mountain vacation.
We could not have asked for a better place to stay with the whole family. Christy was extremely responsive to all my questions. Their home is beautiful, clean, with all the necessities. The location was perfect!!
The Holden property was amazing. Waking up and ending the day on the porch overlooking the creek was the best way to start and end the day. Location was central to all the places we wanted to visit. The cabin was clean, beds were comfy and the Holden’s thought of everything! Amazing cabin.
Of the 3 houses we've rented in this area, this was by far the best. The neighborhood is wonderfully situated, and this house has an ideal spot along the river. Both the interior layout and the exterior covered deck, firepit, and fenced lawn area are great for spending time together. As noted by others, it is modern and well-stocked. You can't go wrong renting this location, and we wished we'd booked two weeks instead of only one.
This place was absolutely perfect. I cannot think of anything negative at all. It was exactly as pictured and described in the listing. The sound of the River in the backyard was awesome! There are steps down into it for the kids to play. The back deck is huge… great for spending time with friends and family. We spent a lot of time out there! We can’t wait to book again for next summer. The only thing I would change is that I wish we had booked more nights!!
Our family of 10 had a wonderful week in Banner Elk while staying at the River House. This was the best "stocked" VRBO we have ever stayed in. Everything we needed to make us feel at home was there: paper towels, garbage bags, condiments in the refrigerator, indoor and outdoor games, etc. We spent most of our time on the deck, eating, looking and listening to the river, enjoying the hot-tub, playing games, etc. Grandfather Mountain, Linville Caverns, trout fishing, etc. are a short drive away. The River House is a very comfortable home in a beautiful setting.
Incredibly gorgeous and relaxing mountain retreat!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Holden Our Own!! Comfortable beds, very well equipped kitchen, cozy couch, and the spacious deck had lots of comfy seating with spectacular views! Our younger two daughters (5 and 8) absolutely loved the bunk beds and toys in the kids room. We had so much fun from playing games to relaxing in the hot tub to making s'mores in the fire pit to walking down the steps to play in the river! I think one of our favorite things was being able to hear the calming sound of the water rushing down the river! Whether you're wanting to spend some quiet time relaxing alone or fun quality time with family or friends, I'd highly recommend this home!!!

The house is perfect for 2 small families or a larger one! The split level bedrooms and plenty of bathrooms is nice. The sound of the creek outback is so soothing while sitting on the amazing patio!

We enjoyed a fabulous week at Holden Our Own! Friends gathered from CT, NY and NC for a relaxing stay.
We so enjoyed the outdoor areas of the home as it was a warm week- the rain didn’t stop us!
The house is immaculate and very spacious! We also had fantastic WiFi which was required for some of us during the week.
Owners were great to deal with and incredibly responsive.
We will definitely be back again soon!
Thank you!
House had everything we needed! The hot tub was awesome! Very nicely updated. Close to ski resorts, blowing rock, Boone, grandfather mountain. Would stay again!

We are glad you enjoyed your visit and the location! There's something to do year-round, we hope to host you all again.
We traveled with three families, looking for a ski adventure. The house was perfect for what we needed. There was room for everyone to have their own space. The location was about 15 minutes to Sugar Mountain for skiing. On off days, the hot tub, fire pit, and cornhole boards provided entertainment. The back deck had a great space heater for even the coldest nights, and the view (and sound) of the creek was breathtaking.
The kitchen had everything we could possibly need to prepare a gourmet meal. Plenty of plates, glasses, utensils, cookware, etc. for a large group.
The owner was quick to respond to any questions we had and was very helpful. I would definitely recommend this location.

Thanks for your thorough review! We are happy to hear you had everything you needed and we are glad you enjoyed the outdoor spaces. We are here for your next get together or vacation!
Our family couldn’t have asked for a better stay in this super clean updated mountain home. We all enjoyed the creek behind the house, using all of the well stocked kitchen items to cook every meal and the super comfortable beds. The location was ideal and perfect to explore the nearby restaurants, hiking, turbing and ski resorts. We loved the hot tub as well and the massive outdoor space with heaters to hang out comfortably every night. The hosts were quickly responsive and answered all of our questions. We can’t wait to return to this amazing property in the years to come and visit one of our favorite places!
The property was as advertised! It easily accommodated 7 guests and centrally located.
Updated mountain retreat, close to everything!

About the host
Hosted by Chris and Christy Holden
We are both graduates of Appalachian State University. We live and work in Charlotte, and spend as much time in the mountains of NC as we can. We have two children, 3 cats, and 1 dog.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with this house and lot along the river the moment we saw it. We knew it had good bones and the potential to be updated to a great vacation getaway! We have rented many homes in the area over the years. Based on our experiences, we created a home where our guests can feel spoiled, relax, and enjoy time with friends and family.
What makes this property unique
Mill Ridge is a wonderful neighborhood with community tennis courts, basketball hoop, and a heated pool. The old ski slopes are now beautiful walking trails, the house sits on the river for hours of wading in the water and rock hopping. There is a lot to do without even getting in the car.
