About this property
Rustic Cabin Condo With Soaring Views of Mt. Crested Butte
Nestled between two 12,000 foot peaks, this rustic cabin condo in the Skyland Lodge will be your cozy, mountain paradise home. Imagine waking up to the peaceful solitude of snowy Mt. Crested Butte starring at you through vaulted windows, as the sun slowly transcends down the 3,000 foot mountainside to the feet of glistening snow below. Then hit the slopes at the ski resort for the best family friendly, extreme terrain, and epic mountain views that Colorado has to offer. Or cross-country ski, snowshoe, or fat tire bike ride the 3-mile Nordic trail from the lodge to historic downtown Crested Butte, America’s Last Great Ski Town, known for its quirkiness, artsy flair, and boutique shops and restaurants. After a stop at Camp 4 Coffee, the Sherpa Cafe, Montanya Distillery, or The Secret Stash, head on to the kilometers of Nordic trail beyond, or to a yurt dinner. Or try dog sledding or snowmobiling through the alpine, winter wonderland of Crested Butte’s pristine backcountry. Whatever your adventure, return to your mountain retreat and cozy up to the fireplace, or soak it all in from the steaming outdoor hot tub with spectacular and soaring views of 12,500 foot Whetstone Mountain, as the alpenglow slowly gives way to a mountain range silhouetted by the starry and moonlit night.
Historic downtown Crested Butte is only 3 miles away, reachable by a quick 5-minute drive or by bike, snowshoe, cross-country ski, or foot along the New Deli trail. The ski resort is only 6 miles away and can be reached by car in 13 minutes or by the free shuttle that runs every 15 minutes from the free parking lot at town's visitor's center. The unit is directly across the street from The Club at Crested Butte and the Robert Trent Jones Jr. 18-hole Championship Course. The Club is open to the public during the summer for snacks, drinks, and lunch. During the winter, the golf course becomes a winter wonderland and the location of cross-country ski, snowshoe, and fat tire bike trails once there is enough snow. So you can cross-country ski-in, and ski-out!
You will also have access to Lake Grant for private fishing and non-motorized boating and paddling. The lake has a pavilion, horseshoe pits, and charcoal grills. Be sure to take the one-mile idyllic stroll around the water's edge, immersing yourself among the quaking aspen and taking in the mountain reflections off the water.
Amazing hiking and mountain bike trails begin just down the street from condo, including the Upper Loop trail that gives you panoramic views of Crested Butte and takes you to the ski resort.
The kitchenette is stocked with a full cookware set; two 7" electric stoves; outdoor-themed place settings for 4; wine glasses etched with typographical maps of surrounding areas; Crested Butte-themed pint glasses to enjoy local brews from Irwin Brewery; a mini refrigerator and freezer; microwave; a hot air popcorn popper; pasta pot; a family-sized George Forman for grilling meats, cooking waffles on a cold winter morning, and baking warm brownies and other deserts; and an electric coffee percolator with complimentary Camp4Coffe and a milk frother to make your morning latte.
The hot tub is communal, but oftentimes unoccupied. The hours are from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. So you can enjoy the morning sun or starry nights, with direct views of 12,527' foot Whetstone mountain in front of you and aspen, pines, and Mt. Crested Butte behind you. The hot tub is conveniently located on the same side as the condo and just down the nearby stairway. Two Turkish towel sheets are available for use so you can wrap up immediately after getting out of the hot tub on those cold winter days or nights.
At night, enjoy cabin games: checkers, chess, backgammon, cards, and cribbage are all available.
From the aspen wood furniture, to the barnwood mirror, to the blacksmith-forged hooks and towel bar, to the antler chandelier, the condo features locally sourced decor to give it local charm and a rustic, mountain cabin feel.
