The WINTER shuttle will also take you to the Mt CB Town Center where you can catch busses every 15 minutes that go into town where you will find great restaurants, shopping, theater and lots more. The free loop shuttle runs from Thanksgiving to last day of skiing in winter(not any other time), but it is a quick 8 minute walk to the bus stop in Pitchfork in summer. I regularly walk to the base area and it is about 10 minutes but maybe longer for some. You just drive up, unload your gear, and you are ready to relax. There is 1 (one) parking space for this unit in front of house. As you may already know, Crested Butte is located in a remote valley high in the Rocky Mountains. We have stunning mountain views from every direction. We are a vacation destination. Also, the incredible mountain biking, fishing, hiking and wonderful festivals makes us a great year round vacation spot for people of all ages. Last minute bookings are less if we have availability. ABSOLUTELY NO PETS on the property due to many guest’s ALLERGIES- (please don't ask for an exception) thanks and NO DIRT BIKES or ATV's or trailers. Alpenglow free music is “on” for every summer as well as Mt CB music. Ask me for links to the music events. We will negotiate for longer rental periods; there is a laundromat in town. / Perfect for a couple or singles. This is a great condo; it is on bus shuttle in winter or easy walk to skiing. Crested Butte is a biking paradise, close to fly fishing and has great views. The unit has art work and skis all related to ski racing with rare posters that you will probably not even see in a museum. If you are a minimalist you should look at photos and decide if this works for you. There is a first floor unit also available to rent that has kitchenette; just ask for my other vrbo #. Lots of famous skiers have been here and signed skis and posters. Truly a one-of-a-kind gallery! . If you need a chef, we have a list. We loved the Ski History Museum - such a cool and unique place to stay! Easy access to the ski slopes. We also appreciated the full kitchen. Highly recommended!
Great unit walking distance to the lifts or with a shuttle that picks up and drops off at the driveway! Hosts were terrific and the unit had everything I needed and more.
Conveniently located, clean and cozy. Walkable to base, but also has the most reliable bus service ever coming buy ever 30 mins. The historical posters and gears are cool.

The host was amazing, the property was perfect and walking distance to a lift. Would come back anytime.
The space was awesome! A true ski museum and so close to the slopes. Our host was kind, welcoming, and had great communication (even sharing bus info and favorite runs on the mountain). My body is grateful for the post-mountain soak in the amazing soaker tub. Would gladly stay here again!
Everything was perfect! Kathy greeted us as we pulled in and was available the whole stay. The loft was comfy and had everything we needed for some basic meals. The bus came right to the driveway to take us to the ski lifts, but it wasn’t a bad walk either! We hope to stay here again very soon :)

About the host
Hosted by P Hooge
My wife and I have lived here for 32 years. We both Alpine and Nordic ski in the winter and do small hikes in the summer. I graduated from The Ohio State University with undergraduate degrees in history and anthropology and a PhD in art education. I also played varsity hockey there. Kathy graduated with a degree from Ohio State in education and business. Ohio was a great place to raise our children but we loved the mountains and chose Crested Butte for its diversity for year round activities and no humidity, no bugs!
Why they chose this property
Since we are skiers, we can walk up to the West Wall Quad Lift in about 8 minutes and the free shuttle stops right at our drive way in the winter every 1/2 hour and it is a 8 minute walk to the bus stop in the summer. It is relaxing in the summer as Castle Road is a dead-end street and quiet. The wildflowers are stunningly beautiful. We are close to many of the bike and hiking trails in the summer. Our decks are 'second to none'. Everyone really enjoys the decks as the views are so incredible from here. We found the lot in 1993 and built the home. We enjoy Castle Road because there are a lot of locals that live here and it is a great community. We wanted to be able to walk to lifts. *****Occasionally there is a renter in the downstairs separate unit and there could be some TV noise.
What makes this property unique
It is less than 10 minute walk to Crested Butte Mountain lifts and close to bike trails. Bus is 5 minute walk in Summer and right at the driveway in winter. The unit is decorated in rare posters about skiing in the 1960's and 70's and the bedroom has a display about climbing and glaciers. This is a one-of-a-kind ski history unit! We chose this lot because we could ski to our door in the 90’s. Now there are more buildings, but we can walk to the lifts. It is Great for .adults and older children. NO pets or smoking allowed due to our allergies and we clean our own unit. We follow CDC guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting .
