Great master bedroom balcony view of Breckenridge Blue River Area

VRBO Bear stayed here

Jul 28, 2010

Breckenridge has always been one of my favorite places to visit in Colorado and this trip did not disappoint!! Driving through town and up the dirt road, my eyes caught the magnificent house just to the right of me. I walked up to the door and right in front are gorgeous flowers including a red Columbine! I knew then, that this was a place unlike anything else. The house was very open, beautifully decorated, well taken care of and the view right out the living room was amazing!! I sat in the leather recliners a lot of my weekend just gazing out the window. In the master bedroom there is a balcony and the view from there was always inviting when I would wake up in the morning! The sun spilled through the windows and the doors as I stepped out and saw a magnificent view! You can not beat the views from this house! This place feels like a home - warm and welcoming. Every room was comfortable and the kitchen was my favorite! The hot tub was the perfect setting to stargaze and the back deck was great to sit on in the morning while enjoying a cup of coffee. From the moment I walked in to the time I left I was wonderfully surprised at how great of a place this was. If you plan to visit Breckenridge - bring the whole family. You'll have plenty of room for a large group and enjoy staying in this great mountain home. The VRBO Bear

Clean, well kept, and perfect size for a large family

  • 3 of 5

Overall the property was exactly what we were looking for. The radiant heat, and having heated floors, was amazing. Sitting in the hot tub with a picturesque view of the mountains was so relaxing. There are, however, areas in which the property could use improvement. The dishwasher left the dishes disgusting, not cleaning them at all, even after running for almost 3 hours. The shower heads in the master shower need to be replaced. Both heads are full of hard water residue and lime build up and, regarding one of them, the water only comes out 1/2 of the shower head. We attempted to use the jacuzzi tub in the master bath and when we turned on the jets a ton of black stuff came out. Pretty gross. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay but fixing these few things would have made it that much better.

Owner's Response: Hi Natalie, Thank you for leaving a review for Alpine Vista! We are sad to just now be hearing there were some issues with the home. We want everything to be perfect for our guests and would have addressed these issues right away had we known. We take tremendous effort to ensure everything works correctly right down to the light bulbs and batteries before every single check in. An appliance repairman has already been scheduled to look at the dishwasher and we have discussed the shower heads and jetted tub with the homeowner to proceed with replacement and repair. As the property managers we do not actually stay in the homes ourselves so there are certain things we do not know about until we are told, and our cleaners have never mentioned any of these to us either as they typically do. Regardless, we are very glad to hear that you otherwise found this home to be clean and well kept, something that is not always easy to find in a pet-friendly home. We are also glad that you enjoyed the main features of the home including the gorgeous views, the heated floors, and the well-maintained hot tub. We do hope you return to Breckenridge with your family and stay with us again so that you can see we are consistent with the things that are most important to our guests including our excellent customer service. Sincerely, Book Breck Staff

Rural Home

  • 4 of 5

The house was really great for our family of eight (three adult couples, an eighteen year old and a nine year old). We each had our own rooms and plenty of space to spread out. We could all be in the kitchen area without stepping all over each other. Would have loved to have a couple of lawn chairs for deck use in the summer months. The dog run/pen was completely enclosed so you can have your dog outside on the deck with you without a leash. FYI items - The road in is a little steep and on loose gravel. We had a motorcycle rider in our group who dumped his bike at the top of the hill coming in - no injury or damage. You are about a 20+ minute car ride to town in the summer. I imagine in winter the ride would be longer and a bit of a nail biter, remember road in is steep and the road to town is winding.

We biked on Vail Pass, kayaked in Frisco, whitewater rafted with Browns Canyon Rafting, hiked and shopped. Was really a great trip and we'd definitely return.

Owner's Response: Hi Pam! Thank you for taking time to review your stay at Alpine Vista. We will pass along your suggestion for lawn chairs in addition to the current table and chairs to the homeowner. We do make all of our winter guests aware that they need a 4WD, chains, or snow tires in the winter, not only to access this home, but to navigate the High Country and our mountainous high alpine environment in general and be in compliance with the chain law when it goes into effect during winter storms. Because homes in Blue River are a 7-20 minute drive into town, the prices are more affordable allowing many families to stay in a larger and more comfortable home like Alpine Vista. Above all else, we are so glad your family had a great time in Breckenridge and were able to enjoy some of the numerous activities our area has to offer, that your pet enjoyed his freedom outdoors, and everyone in your group had room to spread out and have their own space. We are thrilled you want to come back and we hope you will stay with us again! Thank you, Book Breck staff

Great Time

  • 5 of 5

This is a great home! We had 9 adults and 2 kids. Plenty of space. GREAT KITCHEN!!!! We had a blast! As a first time Breckenridge visitor, we were slightly thrown off by the distance between town and the house. Not a big deal, just something to notice if you want to be close to Downtown Breck. Overall, excellent stay and we had a blast! Would recommend to all!

Owner's Response: Hi Michael G! How good to hear you all enjoyed Alpine Vista!! While it's true that the home is about a 15 +/- minute drive into Breckenridge, many of our guests enjoy the "cabin in the woods" feel, the privacy, and being away from the hustle and bustle of town. Also, since Alpine Vista is a pet-friendly home, it has a large outdoor area for the dogs that is almost impossible to find in town. It's wonderful to hear the kitchen and size of the home were otherwise great for your group and we are so glad you all had a blast! Thank you for being such great guests and we hope that you will stay with us again on a future trip to Breckenridge! The Book Breck Staff

Wonderful Home

  • 5 of 5

This is a great home for a large family or a couple of families. The house is beautiful, well stocked, and clean! It's large enough that 12 people doesn't cause claustrophobia.

The fenced in area is also great for pet lovers as we could leave our dog while we went on non-pet adventures.

The home is south of Breckenridge just off Hwy 9 before the assent up to Hoosier Pass...this may be a problem if you're wanting to be closer to town, but it's great if you want to be closer to some of the good hiking trails.

We had one problem with the hot tub...made a phone call and the problem was fixed within a few hours!

Perfect home!

  • 5 of 5

This house was great for our group of friends. We had our black lab dog with us, who absolutely loved the big deck and fenced in yard. The house was very spacious, and gave us a lot of space to do different things. It was clean when we arrived, and the lights/fireplace/hot tub were all on for us when we arrived. I couldn't have asked for a better house and stay.
