Easily the most equipped kitchen of anywhere I've ever stayed! The place was amazing! We loved the layout, perfect for our extended family trip and the garage was so convenient! Would definitely stay here again. 12/10!!!
Such a beautiful home, and fully stocked. They truly thought of everything guests may need, and it was so comfortable for our family. Highly recommend and will absolutely stay here again!
Great stay and experience. Location is a short walk from Gondola Square and is extremely clean and well equipped. Would definitely stay again on our next trip to Steamboat!
We had a wonderful stay at the Escape Chalet! It’s far and away the best rental we’ve stayed at in the area-clean, cozy yet spacious and incredibly well-appointed. The location is wonderful and communication with the host was easy and thorough. Would love to stay again!
Everything was great - the home (super clean and well decorated), hosts (super communicative), & location (proximity to bus & resort) were amazing. Every small detail was thought of, we really enjoyed our stay.
We had an excellent stay at this property! The home was well laid out to host 3 adult couples, each with their own bedroom and bathroom. The kitchen was wonderfully equipped, and the home very clean. Communication with the host was excellent before and during our stay. We are already planning a return trip to the property next summer.
This is one of the nicest VRBOs we’ve ever stayed in – and we’ve stayed in a lot! Kudos to the amazing hosts. This chalet is super clean and stocked with every amenity you can possibly think of (including many special touches like slippers, robes, a big welcome basket, trail maps, etc.) that made our stay wonderful. Every item in the kitchen is high end (All-Clad, Wustof, VitaMix, Le Creuset, etc.) and we didn’t take out a single dish, pot, glass, piece of silverware that needed to be cleaned. The third floor with two large beds and a couch was perfect for all the kids. They loved it up there! The green line bus to and from the ski resort was very convenient and the heated garage with a large bench, several coat hooks and boot warmers made getting in and out of our ski gear a breeze. If we ever make our way back to Steamboat, we will stay here for sure!
Everyone in our group just loved this property for our ski trip-adults, teens, kids and our dog! No one wanted to leave. Justin and Dan are premier hosts and put in all the small touches to make our stay remarkable. The kids loved the puzzles, gaming consoles, bath bombs, and upstairs kids room. The adults enjoyed the upgraded kitchen appliances, the accoutrements to make Old Fashioned cocktails (BYO whiskey), deck, grill, and family room gathering area. The garage had room for our SUV as well as ski amd boot storage, racks, and a large boot dryer. The kids want to come back for the summer! Our dog loved the toys and taking daily visits to the wide open Rita Valentine Dogpark.
We thoroughly enjoyed our family vacation at Escape Chalet. Its in a beautiful quiet neighborhood. The property is as described and pictured. It is a lovely home with comfortable beds and luxurious details. The owner, Justin, had a lovely welxome basket with wine, foid, local coffee, bug spray ( didnt need, no bugs) and sunscreen. He supplied all the essentials for cooking ( spices, oil, vinegar, sugar, great knives and pans and extras) , bathing, and toiletries. We have never had such a well sticked VRBO. We only had to purchase the food we ate. Its close to a bus libe in case your group wants to split up. Its close to many attractions and restaurants. He also supplied a book with places to see, eat, and visit. We went kayaking, white water rafting, hiking, biking paddleboarding, and wwnt to Strawberry Hotsprings.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Disliked: Location
Some wonderful amenities, some broken parts.
Two burners on the stove didn’t work, the owner was very up front about one being broken, even listed it in the “welcome” book, which I took that he knew it was broken & hadn’t fixed it yet. No grill for outside cooking, ice maker didn’t work, light switch smoked when I turned it on. But, there were plenty of dishes, pots & pans, silverware, herbs, paper towels, trash bags, laundry detergent, basically all the things we hope these places had, he had tons of!!! The bathroom amenities were wonderful!!! Loads of goodies & treats for dogs & humans! We left a light on over night that a neighbor complained about, the owner kindly asked if we’d make sure to turn it off, which we did. Finding the place was a bit tricky at night, you can’t read any of the house numbers unless you shine headlights or flashlights on the condo’s directly. We were able to park a short bed pickup in the garage & two long beds trucks outside, parking was adequate! We left a blanket at the house, the owner was great at helping us get it back!! Very good stay, the neighbors right on top of you isn’t awesome, but definitely expected in a city.

Thank you again for being great guests and choosing to stay in our home for your ski holiday. We are so glad that your family, friends, and the puppy had fun and enjoyed the amenities/treats! Our goal is to make sure your experience is as nice as possible so that once you check-in, you can escape and unwind.
Your feedback is very important to us. We are always looking to improve the stay for our guests and we appreciate the review. Based on your helpful notes, we have fixed the following.
Light Switch – I am so sorry that the switched smoked! Right when we got back, we replaced and updated the light switches. You can now enjoy smart switches with dimmers.
Stove – We have ordered a new stove and replacement parts for the existing one. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, parts and new appliances are significantly delayed. We are upfront about this challenge. That said, all of the burners function well, although one of the five burners still makes a clicking sounds while on.
Ice Machine – The ice machine was working, but we had it serviced and cleaned just in case. There is also a drawer of special cocktail ice cubes (Squares and Balls) for your Après delight. Also, if you love ice (like me) or have a large group coming, just let us know, and we can grab a bag of ice and put it in the freezer before you arrive.
Grill – We store the grill away in the winter unless it is requested. For future reference, we have a Weber Genesis II S-335 Gas Grill that we can set up before you arrive.
Neighbors – Alpine Vista is a community of 10 townhomes close to the ski mountain. The Escape Chalet is an end unit townhome comprising of three floors and only sharing one wall with our awesome neighbor. We ask that our guests to be respectful of our neighbors and observe the quiet hours.
We look forward to hosting you and your family again.
Justin + Dan
They've thought of all the extras at this beautifully decorated home-sunscreen, bug spray, welcome treats, where to eat out, etc. They were so attentive to any questions we had and we would definitely go back!
Loved our stay over the 4th of July weekend! We have nothing but wonderful things to say. The home was clean and stocked with everything we needed for our stay. Justin is an amazing host. We spoke a prior to our arrival and he was friendly and attentive. There was a welcome bag when we arrived with a few snacks , bubbles for the kids and a tennis ball for our lab. He was very responsive and truly had thought of everything. He is gracious and even offered to order groceries for us as he was restocking a few items from the previous guests. The house is organized and the room configurations were perfect for our family. The kids LOVED the upstairs "kids" room complete with a TV and sofa...they had so much fun and felt like they were so grown up in their own space :) Very comfortable and beautifully appointed spaces throughout the house as advertised in photos. Truly exceeded all expectations. We will be back as soon as possible.
Property is all first class with much detail. Property management team is best ever encountered.

Thanks Steve! I would highly recommend Steve to anyone renting their homes! He was the perfect guest: polite, considerate, sociable and helpful. He followed all the house rules and left the home very clean and very tidy. Steve, you and your family are always welcome here! I wish you all the best.
Beautiful home, great for large groups as each bedroom is an en suite and spread out through different levels. The hosts are very personable and helpful. Close to the busy stop and a 20 min walk to base area
We split our time between city life and the mountains, and this home is our favorite place to slow down, reset, and spend time with the people (and pups) we love.
Dan grew up coming to Steamboat and knows it like a local, from the best ski runs to favorite spots around town. Justin, originally from San Francisco, came for the mountains and stayed for everything else: the views, the year-round events, and the friendly community.
We both love great food, good design, and spaces that feel comfortable the moment you walk in. When we put this home together, we focused on the details that matter: a well-equipped chef’s kitchen, cozy places to gather, and a layout that works well for families and groups.
Our Goldendoodle, Niku, is a big part of our world, so making this a truly dog-friendly home was important to us. If you’re traveling with a pup, they’re very welcome here too.
Hosting, for us, is about creating the kind of stay we’d want ourselves, easy, comfortable, and thoughtfully put together.
We hope you feel right at home here and get to experience Steamboat the way we love it.
Why they chose this property
This neighborhood offers a rare balance in Steamboat, close to everything, yet calm, quiet, and easy to live in.
An 8–10 minute flat walk leads to the gondola, while the free shuttle stops just 50 ft from the door and runs every 15 minutes, one of the first stops, so seating is rarely an issue.
Nearby Whistler Park adds a great off-leash space for dogs and families, with easy access to surrounding trails and the Yampa River Core Trail for walking, running, or biking.
Downtown, restaurants, and essentials are just minutes away, while the home stays far enough from the base to avoid crowds, traffic, and noise.
It's a setting that feels connected, but never hectic, ideal for skiing, exploring, or simply relaxing.
