About Kay and Tom Holmes
We first visited St Stimons Island in 1971. There were three hotel/motels and lots of small beach cottages available for visitors. The beach was wide and uncrowded. The Coast Guard station was occupied by 'coasties' and there were no condos in sight. Our children enjoyed the safe surf and an occasional restaurant meal 'out'. As our children got older, they wanted a little more excitement so we visited other beaches in neighboring states. We returned to St Simons in 1996, and boy had things changed - Many more restaurants and condos up and down the beach. We visited the island during every season to see how the weather was and what it would be like during 'off' seasons. We liked what we saw and finally found our little condo during a spring break visit in 1999. We saw many different properties but this place felt more like home - not a rental property. I spent the summers here and my husband came down when he could. We finally decided to leave the Atlanta area and move to the island full time. We lived in our little place for 8 months before we found a house that felt right. We still loved our little place though, and decided to keep it as our 'guest house'. We made it available to others in 2008. We hope you will consider it 'home' while you are on our island.

Why Kay and Tom Holmes chose East Beach
St Simons is a resort area but it is also a 'real' place with a large number of full time residents. This condo felt like 'home' as soon as we walked in the door. The tree filled property and a small 'front yard' were a bonus.
What makes this Condo unique
Our proximity to the 'best beach' makes our unit ideal for morning walks or jogging on beach, through neighborhoods or to the village. The hard packed sand is ideal for bike rides and bocce ball. A favorite time is late afternoon for 'cocktails on the beach'.

Great Location on St Simons Island
We enjoyed our month-long stay in this very comfortable Oceanwood Condo. The condo has a cozy living room, comfortable bedrooms and a sunny kitchen overlooking the marsh. The location is close to the beach, village center, library, grocery stores and restaurants. We enjoyed walks on the beach, through surrounding neighborhoods, and along the marsh. Daily sightings of egrets and herons were a highlight.
Lovely Stay - Close to Beach
The Holmes' home is a very comfortable stay within a 5 minute walk to the beach. In close proximity to several restaurants on Ocean Blvd but low traffic outside the duplex. The owners are very accommodating to any needs. I would recommend staying here to anyone, and will likely stay again!
Great location. Everything was there. Close to the beach.
Beach trip Saint Simons Island
The place was great. Fully stocked of linens, towels, blankets, kitchen utensils. Spacious. Only issue was the AC was great downstairs but was warm upstairs even with fans on. Otherwise a great place. Owner Kay was great with communication. Owner gave us great info for the area (stores, food, places to see)
The perfect rental for our family!
My husband and I, with our two kids, just returned from our 4th stay at this property, and it's always the perfect home base for our family vacation.
There are lots of PROS to this rental. There are 2 reserved parking spaces at the front door. The village is just a mile away, so it's a quick drive or bike ride to the pier. There's a public park/playground and several restaurants and shops in walking distance of the condo. The marsh view from the front yard/kitchen window is so pretty, especially at sunset. The living room is stocked with board games, cable tv, and a wall of books. And having a washer and dryer in the condo means we can pack fewer clothes and beach towels, since we can wash as we go. As others have mentioned, the owners are very responsive and provide a list of helpful tips about restaurants and activities.
Best of all, the beach is a quick 5-minute walk out the back of the condo complex. This part of the beach (East Beach) is wide and doesn't disappear with the tide, like it does closer to the village. A cart and beach chairs are provided (again, I love having fewer things to pack!) and there's an outdoor shower for cleaning off when you come back from the beach. It couldn't be easier! We always feel at home here, and wish we could visit every year.
Thank you for your kind words. We LOVE it when folks are happy and want to come again ... and again.
Perfect Cottage - bike to Pier Village!
Wonderful Spring Break trip to SSI! This cottage has everything you need supply wise and is a short walk to the beach and short bike ride to Pier Village. There are some shops and restaurants walking distance from the cottage as well. Bonus is the beautiful view to the Marsh across the street. The owners provided activity brochures and restaurant tips and nothing was a disappointment. Highly recommend!
Our unit is located one mile from the village and one mile from the nearest grocery store.
