About this property
Sunset Breezes - quiet waterfront retreat
Enjoy our waterfront home styled after historic bay lighthouses. Relax by the water in a hammock under the tall pines. Gather with family and friends around the fire pit. Take in the beautiful water sights while paddling in a kayak, canoe, or paddleboard. Laugh with family and friends while playing corn hole, croquet, or bocce ball waterside. Photograph abundant wildlife - bald eagles, blue herons, osprey, deer, turkey and numerous waterfowl. Dine on the deck while enjoying beautiful sunsets. The house is octagon shaped with the large central family area having a high ceiling and stone fireplace. The house has a relaxed, casual atmosphere with games, books and movies for rainy days or quiet evenings. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a gas barbeque grill on the deck. Enjoy the covered deck rain or shine, including the dining table, grill, and hammock. The space is the entire second floor and includes the 13 acre property with dock, fire pit, yard and woods. The house is on a dead end road with almost no traffic and is great for walking, jogging or bike rides. The original house living area was entirely on the second floor with garage and storage on the ground level. We added a small apartment with separate entrances and HVAC system on the ground level. We (Scott & Melinda) live in the ground level apartment. We like to say Hi to our guests and are available for questions or help, but we let our guests take the lead. We are here if you need us, but have our own space with a separate entrance. Guests have complete private use of the property. Casson Neck is on Brooks Creek and is considered the Neck District of Cambridge, MD. The Neck District is quiet, rural, woodsy, and includes several tidal creeks. Paddle across the water, pass the next point and you're in the Little Choptank, just a short paddle to the Bay. The flat terrain makes it great for cycling or jogging. This picturesque setting is home to several bald eagle nests a quick paddle away. Osprey, blue heron, and a variety of song birds abound. Wild turkey and whitetail deer can be seen often in the early morning hours. Sunsets over the water looking west are ever changing and beautiful. Our personal favorite things to do: relax in the breeze, paddle on the water, watch the sunset, sit around the fire and enjoy the local seasonal seafood options. The Ragged Point public boat ramp is a short distance across Brooks Creek. See our guidebook (https://www.airbnb.com/s/guide...)for things to do, places to eat, etc. Public transportation is by taxi or uber. By car, we are approximately 20 min to Cambridge restaurants and shopping, 45 minutes to Easton, 60 minutes to St Michaels, 90 minutes to Ocean City MD or Assateague State Park, 30 min to Black Water Wildlife Refuge and the Harriet Tubman Museum. See our guidebook (https://www.airbnb.com/s/guide... ) for more suggestions on places to go. Fresh eggs are available from our on-site chickens. We have no roosters, so no noisy morning reveille.

This place was everything and more. The house is absolutely beautiful and the views are stunning. We stayed here the weekend of our wedding and it had everything we could possibly want. Hosts even left us a bottle of champagne for our special day with a card. I will absolutely be back.
Our family had an amazing time at this waterfront property! The house was beautiful, immaculately clean and comfortable, with a stunning view. We especially enjoyed the kayaks, canoe, and paddle boards which made for a fun time for all on the water.

So glad you folks had the break you were looking for. There is definitely something special about relaxing by and on the water. Come see us again!
We all had the most wonderful time. The views and sunsets were magic. There were cute chickens in the yard who provided fresh eggs. The house was beautiful and clean. Wish we could have stayed longer but hope to come back again.
Lovely property. Right on the water. Pretty detached (20 minute drive to Cambridge, the nearest town). Very comfortable. Appreciated the opportunity to use the fire pit for s'mores and the fresh eggs from the chickens who have their own coop a few feet away from the house!
Everything about the comforts of home, with an additional waterfront view! We loved the property, the space was perfect. We loved cooking big dinners in the beautiful kitchen, and gathering around the table for games and puzzles, took the kayak for a spin, even caught a couple blue crabs off the dock! Would definitely visit again!
The place is awesome. Very clean, and it had all of the amenities. The views are amazing, and we enjoyed kayaking and lounging around in the yard, enjoying the views of the water. The hosts were quick to respond to emails. We want to come back and stay longer.
Scott and Melinda were a delight! The house was clean and well maintained. Almost everything we needed was already provided, including fresh delicious eggs each morning! The grounds were beautiful, especially when watching the sunset on the dock. Everyone had a wonderful time!
A wonderful place to relax. We walked in and were stunned at the beauty of the house and yard. You won’t want to leave but if you do then St. Michels, Cambridge and Easton are fun to explore. The nature drive and Harriet Tubman museum are amazing. The host was great and extremely helpful. We give it our highest stamp of approval and will be back!

Absolutely loved our recent stay at Scott and Melinda's delightful waterfront home. Away from the hustle and bustle, the home made for an incredibly relaxing stay. The highlight was crabbing in the creek...a bushel of really nice crabs in a couple of hours. Close to Cambridge, Oxford, and St. Michaels made for some nice dinners. Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge made for awesome paddling and snakehead fishing. Thank you Scott and Melinda for sharing your home.
This home is absolutely beautiful! It was clean, the kitchen was well stocked and we truly enjoyed our stay. The sunsets were spectacular, we thoroughly enjoyed the fire pit as well. Having the kayaks, canoe and paddle board was such a great bonus. The beds were comfortable and the property was just beautiful. The hosts were so pleasant and kind and we hardly even realized they were there! I could not recommend this home more-we had a much-needed relaxing vacation and thank you Melinda and Scott for providing that for us. This home is peaceful and soulful. Thank you and we will be back!
We had two families get away for my wife’s birthday. Four adults and three kids. The rooms were perfect sizes for our group. The kitchen was very well stocked for the various meals we prepared. The grounds were just perfect especially if you want a peaceful water setting to look at each day. The only possible complaint we had was the fact that the listing claimed there was a hot tub present, which was not the case. Otherwise, we’d definitely come back again!

Jason,
I apologize for the hot tub listing. I am not sure how that happened, we never had a hot tub. I made sure the listing was corrected.
Thanks,
Scott
We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. This place is so comfortable but this time of year I will tell you you need bug spray if you are going to be outside. That being said. I slept so well. Being a light sleeper I did get up in the early morning hours to watch the fishing boats going out. And of course we took the baby monitor so our son could have some uninterrupted sleep. Definitely would go back. If your looking for a restaurant, I would recommend the suicide bridge restaurant for dinner. Food was good, service was good and atmosphere was good.
Everything about Scott and Melinda's house was perfect and the photos of their home and surroundings do not lie! The house was super clean and super stocked to make it feel like our home away from home. All we needed to do was stock the refrigerator with our essentials; everything else we needed was already waiting for us. The views of the river from the floor to ceiling windows were incredible and calming. The porch was like another room in the house and the hammock and porch swing were in use throughout our stay. But the best part was the hammock on their land in front of the river - the best place to read or take a nap. We spent the evenings watching the beautiful sunsets from their cozy dock. Their main room was very comfortable for TV watching and we all got good nights' sleeps in their comfortable bedrooms. The bathrooms were also stocked with all our needs. We visited several of the small historic towns in the area - Cambridge, Easton, Oxford, and St. Michael's - but mostly we loved the remote location of the home and just relaxing together. Scott and Melinda were helpful in recommending a local place for crabs and some other restaurant suggestions. We hope to come back next summer!
We wanted to surprise my parents and for the first time since we were children just the siblings and my parents went away. My Dad is battling cancer. We had the best weekend. The place was perfect and we loved the view! Highly recommend this place. Beautiful place!

About the host
Hosted by Scott & Melinda
Scott & Melinda love living on Brooks Creek - just a short paddle to the Chesapeake Bay. Laying in a hammock, relaxing with the bay breeze a few years ago, watching a beautiful sunset, convinced us this was where we are meant to be. We hope you fall in love with those bay breezes and incredible sunsets as well. We last lived in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York where the winters are long and cold but beautiful. We decided we needed to defrost so we moved to the also beautiful Eastern Shore.
Why they chose this property
We first experienced the Eastern Shore when we attended the Waterfowl Festival in Easton many years ago. This is a fantastic event and enjoy going every year (except 2020 COVID year). The festival is typically held the second weekend in November and is the area's signature event. We enjoy everything about the festival, especially the quality artists and of course the she-crab soup. We now love to visit the restaurants and shops in the area's small eclectic towns of St Michaels, Easton, Oxford and Trappe. We enjoy the Chesapeake's seasonal bounties of crabs, oysters, and rockfish. Every now and then we get the urge to go to the beach and enter the hectic hustle and bustle of Ocean City and quickly remember why we love it here.
What makes this property unique
On a warm summer evening, with a cool bay breeze, swing on the deck swing with your loved one and feel your stresses and worries melt away.
