About this property

Quiet room in historic hotel, with queen bed, attached bath and kitchenette.

We renovated and reopened the historical Simpson Hotel (est. 1914) in Duncan, Arizona, a town of 700 on the Gila River in a quiet region of southeastern Arizona. The room is an old storefront attached to the hotel building, accessed through the hotel lobby. It is cozy but very private and comfortable. The kitchenette has a small fridge, toaster oven, microwave, coffee maker (we’ll provide fresh-ground organic coffee) and bar sink (no stovetop). In addition to the queen bed, there are a small table and two chairs in the room. The back door opens onto a quiet shade garden, through which you can access the many rambling gardens and sitting areas of the hotel property. Guests are also welcome to relax in our hotel parlor and use the dining area. If you like, add a gourmet vegetarian breakfast for $20 plus tax per person (children 12 and under $10), or walk down the highway for local cowboy and Mexican dishes.

The Town of Duncan is central to BLM Wilderness Study Areas, abandoned mining districts, notable rockhound and birding sites, and lovely, relaxing rural drives. Have a stroll on our Gila River birding trail, just five minutes by foot from the hotel, or drive out to try your luck at the fire agate field on the Lazy B Ranch’s public lands — their gate is just ten miles from our door. Local shopping includes Germaine’s Emporium with antiques and collectibles, Country Chic artisans gallery and visitor center, and rock man Tim George’s home shop across the river (Tim can also guide you on your rockhounding adventures).
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.
