Interesting non conforming apartment in Brentwood
Tucked away off the street in Brentwood, even in daylight, we had a hard time finding the alley where the garage entrance is. Don’t arrive in the dark. But we did find it! Still, our SUV with a ski rack could not fit in the garage. Might have been nice to have a little heads up about that. Still, there was on street parking in front of the main house. Walking in that way we interrupted a family enjoying an outside cocktail in the shared garden. A little awkward. There was no doubt that the place was clean as the chlorine smell immediately confronts you when you enter, sort of like what I imagine being in a Clorox bottle would feel like. But we got used to it. A little disappointed that although there was a small kitchen with appliances, there were no coffee, or filters, or even salt and pepper. Not required or promised, so maybe we are too picky. And we were only there for one night, so no problem soldiering on. Just know, if you plan to have your own meals in this apartment, plan to bring everything! Building codes have become onerous for some who want to throw up a little pied a tere (sorry for the awful spelling!) in their backyard and rent them out, but one does begin to notice uneven floors, tiny showers with 12 inch drops to enter the space, and so on. Although we had little sleep because the air conditioner continuously cycled on and off every 3-4 minutes, we did find the bed exquisitely comfortable!
I am so sorry this guest had issues. I have addressed the cleaning products with housekeeping, to use only natural products. As for salt, pepper, and coffee filters, these should be a staple and will be double checking that they are restocked, although noted on instructions that condiments are not always restocked.
Guests should not be parking in front of main house and walking through other property, and instructions are clearly given to park on side street which provides direct access to the cottage from the alley, not through other property.
I do have bright security lights for after dark.
As for the AC, I’ve never had a complaint before but will be checking with future guests to see if it’s an issue.
I feel this guest, being there only one night, did not access complete hospitality instructions which is unfortunate. My normal requirement of 5 nights gives my guests a much better value and realistic expectations. I made an exception in accepting one night to fill a gap.
Cozy and well-located
Cozy one-room cottage with mini-kitchen, brick patio, and garage off alley. W/D in garage, small fridge, oven, and microwave. Everything worked, clean, and owner is super friendly. Lovely residential location. 1-1/2 blocks from bus #18.
Great location and clean space. Loved that there was a small outdoor area. Parking definitely a plus. Would definitely stay again!
Happy returning guests!
We've just spent 3 weeks for our second time in 6 months to this charming studio and we have rented other properties from this owner many times over many years. It is ideal for our needs and located in a quiet and wonderful neighbourhood. We'll be back!
Nice area. Loved having breakfast on the patio. Not for anyone with mobility issues -due to a 12 + inch step down into and out of the shower.
Great location. Great owner. Great experience.
Great location central to Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Century City and Westwood. Biking, hiking, walking, running, shopping, ocean sports, movies, sightseeing, to name a few of the activities you can enjoy. The weather is near perfect all year round.
