About the property

large living room with futon , 2 Bedrooms qn sz bds , 2 Lg Bathrooms, Sleeps 4-5

The cabin is only a 15 minute walk to downtown Estes Park shopping and restaurants. It is 1255 square feet and is bordered on the north by a forest that was recently part of Rocky Mountain National Park, and was deeded to the Historic MacGregor Ranch conservation easement in a land exchange that enabled the Park to add hiking trails. These trails are from 1 to 3 miles north of the cabin. The MacGregor herd of elk live near the Ranch which is 1/2 mile from the cabin.

Since Rocky Mountain National Park built the cabin as a one room cabin, the cabin has quite a large living room with a fireplace. From the backyard sandstone patio, you have a magnificent view of Lumpy Ridge; Said to have the best granite rock climbing in the state (Rocky Mountain News, Jan 20, 2009). You can see elk, deer, abert squirrels, hummingbirds, wild turkey, numerous varieties of birds, chip monks, foxes, coyotes,a bobcat, and other wildlife very close by, sometimes 2 feet from the kitchen table when the lights are off in the kitchen during the day.

Enjoy a morning cup of coffee on the front deck beneath the pines while looking at the views. At night sit on the front deck while looking at the stars.

Although close to downtown, the cabin is in a secluded, quiet setting at the end of a street. Since you can walk or drive less than a mile into town, you will have both easy access to Estes Park's shopping and restaurants and the enjoyment of nature's tranquility and beauty. You also have quick and easy access to Safeway, the town's large grocery store (5 minutes away).

PLEASE NO PETS OR SMOKING -- my daughter and I have severe allergies.

* If you make a reservation, please tell us a bit about you and your family. We are careful about who we rent to and like to know a bit about our guests. Thanks!

Why Sherry and Steve chose Front Range

Rocky Mountain National Park is one of the Crown Jewels of the National Park System! Estes Park is such a charming town. We fell in love with the serenity of the location being next to the forest, the large cabin with the large windows with the ability to watch wildlife from the windows, and being so close to all entrances to RMNP.

What makes this cabin unique

Being within close walking/driving distance of downtown Estes (less than a mile) and close to Rocky Mountain National Park Trails. Living in a peaceful neighborhood at the end of a dead end street that is bordered on the north by a forest, MacGregor Ranch conservation easement and seeing lots of wildlife. But still being 5 minutes from Safeway.

It feels away from it all since cabin backs to the forest and you hear no traffic sounds but Safeway and downtown are only 5 minutes away. RMNP is only 10-15 minutes, depending on which of 3 directions you take.

Enjoying this historic cabin in Colorado's Rocky Mountain National Park

My arrival to Estes Park was nothing less than breath taking. I and my friends arrived at our Rocky Mountain Cabin, pleased to find that that it was close enough to walk to town, but still nicely tucked away and peaceful. The cabin was built by the Rocky Mountain National Park and is kept immaculate. It was well appointed, spacious with very comfortable furnishings, beautiful photography and a fully stocked kitchen. After the cubs got settled we found that the owners had set us up with coffee for the morning so we did not need to rush to the store. The cabin has a flat screen TV with dish network, many books to read, DVD’s and a nice stereo system for the all to listen to music if we wished. We also discovered that the owner is a photographer, and left us a wonderful 8 x 10 photograph that she had taken of the snow capped mountains. What a nice gift! I was able to bring a piece of Estes Park home with me. The night skies were brightened with stars like we had never seen! Every evening we sat out on one of the three patio areas to star gaze and soak up the cool crisp mountain air. The back patio is equipped with a very nice grill to cook your meals. The mornings were just as glorious as the nights. After making some coffee we walked from the cabin to do some downtown shopping and over to the Historical Stanley Hotel for a tour. Estes Park has several trails to hike or bike, as well as a number of lakes where you can feed the ducks or rent paddle boats to get out on the water. Keep an eye out for the Elk, they are everywhere. The VRBO Bear

Beautiful cabin and stay

  • 5 of 5

The cabin has the feel of being out in the country, but is literally 3 minutes from downtown Estes and Safeway. Lumpy Ridge trailhead is 4 minutes away with a beautiful strenuous hike to Gem Lake. RMNP is 10 minutes away from either Estes area entrances. The cabin is stocked with all essentials, coffee, condiments, exceptionally clean and spacious. Would stay again.

Complete comfort and convenience - a great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

The owners have thought of everything! They clearly love this place. The kitchen was so well-stocked we even returned some items we had bought to the grocery store. And there was every pot, pan or appliance we could want. The living room is huge, furniture comfortable. Satellite TV, wifi and a dishwasher were great to have. Then, there is the location. The cabin is right in town, but it feels private and secluded. It was a great choice for us.

Cosy and Idyllic

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in the Timm's Cabin earlier this week with my fiance, and we were very happy there - beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well-equipped, the living space was large and beautiful, and the windows were well placed to watch all the wildlife. I think my happiest memory of my time in the cabin will be sitting at the table watching chipmunks scamper around, deer wonder into the neighborhood then make graceful leaps back over the fence into the RMNP. We watched an elk one evening, and a large black squirrel we discovered was an Abert's Squirrel, put in a regular appearance. We felt secluded, but were actually close to shopping and amenities. My one regret about this place was that we could not stay longer!

Peace and quiet!!!

  • 5 of 5

Was far better than even described in the ad...we came to hike the Rockies, and it felt great to go back to a quiet home without getting stuck in tourism central.. The place was EXTREMELY well stocked ( far more than we needed) and all of our evenings we relaxing and quiet even with being just a mile from town ( perfect walking distance )... I just can't say enough... We had gone with my son and his girlfriend, and once at the cabin, 4 of us never got in each other's way.. Plenty of room but if you rent, bear in mind it is a VERY quiet neighborhood and I am sure they like it that way. I would pay twice what was asked had I known I would find peace on the mountains AND peace at such a beautiful cabin.. Thank you Sherry !

We will stay there again

  • 4 of 5

This property was very clean. We enjoyed how roomy it was. Many cabins do not have two bathrooms, but this one did. The owner had sent us clear instructions on location, provided notes inside the home regarding fireplace usage, trash service, and other amenities . We enjoyed watching the wildlife parade by this cabin.

It was an easy walk into Estes Park so we did not have to spend a lot of time looking for parking. The cabin was an quick drive to the grocery store, gas station, and pharmacy.

Estes Park Rated #1 by Smithsonian for the Best Small Town to Visit. I'll tell your where to find my favorite places, also the locals favorites, to shop/eat and places to find wild life. Rocky Mountain National Park is visited by more tourist than Yellowstone or Yosemite National Park. They are in the know!!!
