My family have enjoyed Lure ME for 2 years now. It's a beautiful, comfortable home with all the amenities including a great screened-in porch, a big dock and swimming area as well as a blissful hot tub. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Needs Maintenance and an Exterminator

  • 2 of 5

This is a nice home that has potential, but is in need of some maintenance and an exterminator.

The entire bottom of the gas grill rusted through and fell out while cooking dinner one night. After putting out the grease fire on the patio, we had to finish cooking our steaks in a frying pan on the stove.

The water pressure in the lower level shower was so low, it wasn’t usable.

The boat house needs a good hosing down or brushing with a broom to get the old bug nests off of it. There was a very large, abandoned hornet nest filling the boathouse light fixture and a large, active wasp nest on the back of the boat house. The surrounding homes in the neighborhood appear to be better maintained.

There was an umbrella stand on the dock, but no umbrella. We bought our own.

Regarding the comments from SM and the Owner’s Response in July 2016:

YES, this house has a very big mouse problem. We saw mice running on the kitchen floor, the kitchen counter and the living room floor. The kids could hear mice walking above the lower level ceiling. Two nights in a row, we were woken by the sound of a mouse flopping around the kitchen floor in the glue traps that we bought. The same two nights, we were woken a second time by the sound of a mouse scratching and chewing his way through our bedroom door, trying to get out.

We liked the Lake Lure area, but we will not be back to Lure Me.

Fabulous, fun week with family

  • 4 of 5

A great house! We had 8 adults in the 4 main level bedrooms & 2 teens in the basement 4 bed bunk room. Extra large fridge & small fridge in basement. Have reported a problem with the kitchen fridge freezing some things. Had lots of fun with kayaks & canoe & floats. House was well equipped except needing more eating utensils. The lakeside dock was perfect for watching the 4th of July fireworks at the the Rumbling Bald Resort .Think we could have done better with more bathrooms for that many people. Renters need to be aware of the winding Dangerous uphill Buffalo Shoals Rd.& need to take alternate road.

Lure Me Lured Me

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent five wonderful days and nights at Lure Me on beautiful Lake Lure and we could not have been more pleased with the accommodations. Plenty of parking space. The house is delightfully decorated, very well appointed, and the views from the screened porch and lakeside dock were breathtaking. We had a wonderful time floating around the dock and paddling to the beach at Ball Mtn Resort for ice cream. Lure Me is perfect for family gatherings and we will most certainly look forward to staying there again. Cell reception is sketchy but that turned out to be a good thing.

Mice infestation

  • 1 of 5

During our 5 day stay we had many negative issues to include mice infestation in the kitchen, broken kayaks, broken dock chairs, missing paddles, etc. We left a letter to the rental manager and she accused us of lying about the mice infestation, so we sent photos. We have not heard from her since but were annoyed by her poor attitude and lack of attention to detail in making a very expensive rental an enjoyable vacation. Overall, the house is dated with no internet connection and poor television connection. On a positive note, Lake Lure is beautiful but visitors should choose another property or bring your cat.

Owner's Response: I have to say this was the strangest "request for a refund" we have ever received. After the guests' departure, we found a written list of many complaints about the house, including a "mice infestation". NOT ONCE DURING THEIR 4 DAY STAY DID THE GUESTS CALL THE OFFICE WITH ANY OF THEIR COMPLAINTS, some of which were very trivial & ridiculous (bathroom mirror not hung high enough). This home has been rented all year, it's on a pest control program, and we have had not one complaint about mice - not from guests, nor from housekeeping. These guests did provide a tiny picture of mice droppings on a gray counter top, but the picture was so tiny, there's no way to tell, for sure, if the picture was even taken in this home. After the guests departure, the pest control service was called - they found no evidence of any mice whatsoever. Housekeeping found no evidence of mice whatsoever, and the guests who checked in behind these have seen no evidence of mice whatsoever. PLEASE BE WARE OF REVIEWS POSTED BY GUESTS SUCH AS THESE - IF THE PROBLEMS WERE AS BAD AS THEY SAY, THEY SURELY WOULD HAVE CALLED TO REPORT THEM WHILE THEY WERE HERE.

FABULOUS place for our ladies weekend retreat! We come here every year...sometimes twice a year!!!

  • 5 of 5

This home has everything you will need for a weekend stay, or for an entire week. Lots of room upstairs for our nightly Bible Study, and... the lower level is perfect for the teens with the bunk room, foosball table & hot tub! Every retreat we plan, the girls ask "are we going to that same great house again this time?" Beautiful location on Lake Lure, easy, level access & parking . Just an all around great rental property. Hoping to be back again in November!

Lure Me

  • 1 of 5

Unfortunately, we were disappointed with Lure Me. ALthough the location on the lake is amazing, the house was not. First, there was no internet the entire time we were there. The property manager said she would talk to the owner and call us back, which never happened. There were several of us who had business to attend to so we had to drive to town to find wifi. Secondly there were two huge safety concerns for families with young children. The door to the stairs opened into the stairs, making it very easy for a little one to lose their balance trying to open the door and falling down the stairs. Also, the downstairs porch drops off to a steep decline, but doesn't have a railing! Ultimately, we felt that the house was dated and many details were overlooked (no beach towels, outlets that didn't work, broken appliances, broken umbrella on the dock, hole in one of the kayaks, trash downstairs when we arrived, poorly cleaned, etc.) The house was too expensive to have had these issues so we will not be returning.
